In 2018 top national security officials handling pandemics left abruptly and were not replaced by Trump's administration. He also eliminated The NSC directorate for global health and security and bio-defense left behind by Obama's tenure, as well as the "Playbook for Early Response to High-Consequence Emerging Infectious Disease Threats and Biological Incidents" which the previous administration had created specifically in anticipation of an outbreak. Trump followed none of the guidance left by his predecessor's team, and ignored multiple red flags in the lead up to the pandemic, even going so far as to downplay its existence as a hoax or something that would just "go away". And this doesn't even include his bungled response once COVID really got going. Look, there's a whole book of material to go over. It was just a botched job top to bottom.

I love your avatar😍. I'm a JRT owner too. Unfortunately, our Jack Russell got sick and died suddenly on June 2nd😭. We believe it might have been cancer as she had an autoimmune disorder. We've had six JRTs and she was our third rescue. We won't be getting another dog until the end of summer. It's hard because for 29 years of my life, we've always had pets. Now, the house is empty.
