You are right Todd . This is a must do tour. The challenge is to be able to travel and explore the area navigating the infrastructure. Are tour guides available to help with the transport. The drone shots were spectacular. Thank you for taking us along . Sending you well wishes from Jim and Harriet🙏🙏

Hi Neenee & Todd. I don't know where to start. Phongsali is a/would be a great destination to travel to. As a photographer, I could spend weeks there. The people are beautiful (not in a sus way) but generally speaking as they are very photogenic, especially the elderly. Even the architectural elements are catching my eye (eg: at 4.52 the dwelling with the rock stepping and the material for that house). Such a beautiful country overall. I have to give you a huge thanks Todd, THANKS. I haven't picked up my (or any) camera up in years now. I have been inspired to take it up again thanks to you and Neenee. As you may remember I am a big fan of B&W photography and have really appreciated yours at the end of your vids. My brother (also a photographer) says I've just lost my 'Fojo"..lol...I think I've got it back.

I've watched lots of videos from other KZbin channel. I have to say none of them have more videos than you Todd. Not only that yours goes far and deep, your videos opened up every aspect of life in Laos for the world to see. Especially those that have subscribed to your channel thus they can make an informed decision whether they should visit Laos or not. As I have mentioned/ commented on other videos of yours, Laos is now on my bucket list thanks to your in depth videos about Laos and its people.

Well, thank you for such positive feedback, I really appreciate it. I understand my vids may not appeal to everybody.. they may be too long for some or not as fast paced as others, but at the end of the day, I'm not making them for everybody. I make videos that I enjoy watching. I want to capture this country and it's people before it changes too much. That is inevitable. It just so happens I've found an audience that enjoys that also, and for that I am grateful. Thanks for taking the time to not only watch my videos but to comment also. It really does help. Cheers 😉

Mate I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated your videos, it's not too long nor it's too much editing. Whoever watch your videos get to see whatever you're seeing. I loved the fact that you tells your audience as it is and not tried to paint a perfect picture or twisted the truth to make it look great. Also you obtained the information from the locals that's what makes your videos much more enjoyable to watch. In the West we says "straight from the horse's mouth " mate.😅😅😅😅😅.

Todd I’ve been watching your channel for a couple of years now and have been mesmerised by the places you take us to. But this trip to Phongsali is extraordinary - who would have guessed that such a magical place existed. Being so relatively inaccessible must have helped preserve its uniqueness... surely it deserves UNESCO heritage status! Keep up the great travelogue.

Eleven years ago when I was there it was a ten or twelve hour drive from Odum Xai to Phongsali on probably the oldest, most dilapidated bus I'd ever been on, driven by a young man who thought he was Mario Andretti. The road was narrow, unpaved and for long stretches ran along the edges of steep drop-offs, mostly with out guardrails. We passed one spot were people had stopped and were peering off the side of the mountain were someone had gone through a section of guardrail and disappeared in the trees below. Easily the scariest bus ride I'd ever been on, but Phongsali and the remote villages in the area were worth it. I'm loving these videos!

Hello Todd , master of sceneric drone views. When I worked in Saigna , we went to Phongsaly for planting an NGO runned...from Paris by the wife of Cheysson, the exforeign French minister. It took us one and a half day to take upthere ! So you can see there has been big improvement since that time in Laos. By the way Phongsaly is not a "village"(Ban) but a little old town (Meuang) as so well described by Madame NiNi (NeeNee in aussie language). Sokdi deu.

Hey Todd,,well,,,you know my love for big chunks of wood. Even better are OLD big chunks of wood. That table the guy was working on obviously came from another old building . Wish I could feel it and smell it. Same with that gorgeous 400 plus year old building. Those upper story facades were amazing. Was it brick,,or plaster? I'd like to have hugged that 400 yr old beauty! I'm glad that guy is there doing a feasibility study on preserving the place. It would be criminal not to,,on par with the taliban blowing up the ancient Buddha statues in Afghanistan . Thanks for showing this! Ttyl,,,Marlon

The history of this village is what I find fascinating. All mom-and-pop stores, fresh air and beautiful scenery. And like you said, Todd, take away the vehicles and you wouldn't know what century it was. Aerials are fantastic, and as always, sweet, sweet black and white stills. Thanks again to you and Nene!

Todd your Lao has come long way. very impressive. one phrase I think will be helpful in your travels is. "Vow Lao bo Geng" = speak lao not great = my lao is not great. OR " PhaSa Lao bo geng" = my lao language is not great. from those 4 words I'm sure you know the translations yourself but I think this phrase will be super helpful. Again you are doing GREAT. Safe travels.
