Yes, I think so. If you are looking for electronic components that are overheating.

I'm sure it can't be used for locating shorted SMD capacitors by injecting low voltage because the resolution is only 32x32 pixels. For locating shorted SMD MOSFETs or capacitors IR camera resoluton should be 256x192.

I have an application for this infra-red camera. Any idea how accurate the temperature readings are? For my immediate application it does not have to be super accurate, just an indicator of temperature, but down the road something quite accurate say +/- 2 Deg. F. Thanks for bringing this product to my attention.

I honestly believe it is accurate withing the ranges you indicate. It's biggest drawback is the offest between the infrared and video cameras, and the overall resolution.

The hottest spot is off on the wall. It would have been nice to see clear hot spots (e.g. a pair of candles) to gauge the offset.

I agree. I am planning on getting a new model with higher resolution and offset adjustments.

I assume you mean the Dot on the screen. I have not looked, but I believe it is a menu choice.

Looks like the optical image doesn't line up anywhere close with the thermal image.

will it help to detect water leak?

I never tried using it for that, however if it is cold water coming out in a heated environment, or visa verse, I believe it should function to some degree.
