Boyd's name popped up on countless records in the 1960s and '70s: Pink Floyd, Fairport Convention, Nick Drake. Joined by singer-songwriter Robyn Hitchcock, Boyd reads from his book, White Bicycles: Making Music in the 1960s, while Hitchcock performs songs from or inspired by the era.

Joe Boyd is the alan Lomax of London and england. He brought us - with zest Anne Briggs, Fairport convention , Nick Drake. Floyd I didn't even know about lol. What a beautiful humble open soul. Robyn owes so much to syd. His whole style is in terrapin.

Tension between artistic production as zone of liberty with artistic reception as commercialized transaction, reminds me of the big party at Bunny's in season 1 of "Mozart and the Jungle" which is a psychedelic panorama snapshot of classical music intersecting with old money putting art in its place. "Do we make music to raise money or raise money to make music?" The absence of money isn't even registered as a possibility in the formulation of the question. Humans can live without it and to reach deep, art must touch the part of our souls that is so capable.

I have long ago given up trying to learn how to play songs the way Robyn does; he's a special breed. I just end up figure out the bass note and playing a much-less-interesting chordal approach.

I haven't had a foot massage since college. She was beautiful. A little pixie who came and went like a breeze. We never had sex but that massage was better than any fucking sex I ever had.
