They come with a prescription frame template in the box, which you can take down to your local glasses specialist (or order from AliExpress!) to make an insert which will be compatible with the glasses.

I use them over my glasses the same way I do when at a theater with 3D glasses. You will likely need the extra long nosepads and it won't work well with overly large frames. Mine are by no means small frames, and they work very well together.

I love the colour and the vibrance. Would be nice to have a larger fov. But still cool. The only issue I had using it with a steam deck is that you can't pin the image to a walk etc. When playing halo...I had to focus to keep my head still. Sometimes if you're moving sideways while you accidentally turn your head, it gives motion sickness. They need to fix this.

In my household that applies to a really cheap convertible Laptop with a Celeron N3350 chipset and my HP ZBook from work. If you need privacy, e.g. on a train ride, while doing some work, you can just switch the main Laptop screen off and view all your content in the NReal Air. Pretty awesome actually.

Depends on your vision, I'm not 20/20 anymore but I don't need glasses and I find 125% scaling in Windows to be the way to go, while my gf prefers 150%. Thankfully more apps and websites scale properly nowadays. You can do no scaling but it's just tiresome in the long run, at least for me. Also bright objects on dark background are harder to read due to a bit of halo/bloom effect inherent to this style of projection (if you have pitch black background and white letters you can make out faint shadow of it displaced. Not noticeable in other scenarios) so for best experience you should probably avoid dark mode as far as work with text is concerned and settle for normal light scheme with night mode turned on (warmer colours)

@DavidAddis

That might be an option on Android, but on other devices it doesn't use the 3DoF tracking at all, it just renders to the full display, locked to the head, all the time. On Mac, you can either use Nebula to keep it in the same position (like I demonstrated), or close Nebula and use it in the same way as other devices.

Oh yes, you can easily read text. Think of it just like a massive 1080p monitor. When you use it in AR mode, though (with a compatible Android phone or on Mac), the resolution will be effectively decreased as you're just using a portion of the screen, so small text will become difficult to read.

Concern to the firmware updating (I have the glasses, and in addition to that, the USB-C to HDMI adapter) - is this easy to to, and safe? I have the glasses now for two months (ordered from Japan), and I am a little afraid of bricking. SD works totally fine, and Switch, Iphone, Ipad and my Laptop, but consoles and other devices don´t work with the adapter. What kind of dongle device are you using for the switch in the vid? Does this show 1080p or just the 720p from the display? Thanks for sharing!
@DavidAddis
@DavidAddis 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alf. I’ve updated the firmware several times now, it seems quite safe, but I suppose it does carry some inherent risk. I haven’t heard of anyone bricking their device by doing it, but it may be possible. It might look like it’s working fine with the Steam Deck but still limited to 30Hz. You can enable the performance display on SD if you want to check. I’m using a 3rd party dongle from Amazon for my Switch, it outputs 1080p video just like the official dock, I think there are a few manufacturers that make these now. 🙂

Thanks, Tim! The Steam Deck looks a little oversaturated (and the shadows appear slightly crushed) either direct, through the GoFanco or the official adaptor. Yeah, I bought these on Amazon, but cancelled a few min later. Just too much headache trying to connect to a iPhone/Apple product, plus didn’t want to risk the quality not being so great on the Steam Deck. I think I’m gonna try to hold off on a version 2. Thanks

Yes if they aren't massive frames but getting lenses for the incuded prescription frame works better.

Lasik surgery, if you ever can get this, would be my recommendation. I was always limited with my VR until I bucked up and fixed my eyes entirely.

I don't understand, my avegant glyph is almost 7 years old, can give me the 720p that the steam deck outputs by default and has BY FAR better sound. How are these a good option when you can get the glyph for ~$40?

I often use 900p upscaled to 1080p or 1440p on the steamdeck. Makes a big difference compared to 720p. But for 40$ a 720p device is indeed a great deal.

I'd argue that Glyph's technology can be perceived as higher image quality than these glasses. Allowing that much light through the lenses and their small LCDs would only reduce the amount of perceived pixels in your eyes. If you want to look less dorky then yeah these are a better choice for you but if you want a true immersive experience then $40 is all you have to pay to get it.

Have you installed windows to your steam deck? The nreal air work great with my steam deck in steam os but with windows the steam deck screen is mirrored to the nreal air glasses (but does not turn off the screen on the steam deck, thus wasting battery) and the sound doesn't come through the nreal air glasses either.. is there a solution to this like a windows driver or something like that to fix this? Thanks

So can you modify the distance (degress) to make you feel Closer to screen (preceive the screen bigger than real 77") I have an LG CX 77" , but if I buy these glasses I want to enjoy a bigger display gaming in bigger experience ... Xreal says 130" but how Manu degrees should I need to set Up to make me closer to virtual screen ? (30°? 43°? ) Any opinión please ??

IM thinking of using the NReal air with my work laptop to give me better external monitors and working with them. First is this possible . second do I have to install anything on the laptop , as its a corp laptop or will the glasses just work as an additional screen . Struggling to find a video on you tube that cleary explains this use case . and am UK based. Really enjoyed the video by the way - thankyou

Yes, the glasses can be configured by your computer to act as a second monitor. If your computer doesn't have a USB C port with Alt DP mode support then you'll need to get something like the gofanco adapter shown in the video or Nreal official adapter to convert the USB C video of the glasses to HDMI. You shouldn't have to install anything on the laptop.

I would honestly but them, but damn it. Amazon's imprort fee to Sweden is 110$, so I'd have to pay more than I did for my steamdeck to get it

They are available for 350€ new on Ebay in Germany, maybe that coule be worth checking out, either to see if someone in sweden sells them or you can get ones shipped from germany.
