Hi Jonathan, to add further to your description of the nuance one could argue that it is not so much about the actual length but the bow stroke (with the length of the notes being a result of it). The dot above the note would be more commonly called 'staccato' where you can either stay on the string or lift the bow. Spiccato would be more of a bouncy bow articulation. They both share a 'biting' character to how the string is initially articulated. Tenuto (without the dot) would be as you said going the full duration of the note, but also keeping the dynamic consistent, thus avoiding the natural decay. Tenuto+staccato I would interpret as a shortened note with consistent dynamic throughout. This is not a criticism, as I really enjoy your videos, but find it easier to conceptualise than subdividing too much. Disclaimer. Composer here and only amateur cellist. Anyways, keep up the great content and glad to see you enjoying your NS Design cello, I sure do love mine!

The notations you explain are not really tempo markings. So where would I find a reference yo these bowing instructions?? Thanks. BTW, did you get a nee case to fit your very fine 7/8 cello?

the tempo is "grazioso" which can be interpreted many ways. as for the case, I am 'retrofitting" my NewTech for the 7/8
