Just one thing about moderators that I did not explain very well: Unlike the quadratic increase of heat generation with increased efficiency for cells, the additional heat generated by a moderator adjacent to a cell increases *linearly* with the cell's efficiency, just like the additional power. That's why, at 11:40, the heat multiplier is 366% - each cell has a base efficiency of 200%, so have a base heat multiplier of 300%, and the additional heat multiplier is then just *2 × 1/3* = 66%.

I came here looking to find out what this mod was, since I'd never heard of it until I started playing FTB Revelation. This looks fantastic. It really appeals to me in the (mathematic) customizability, and the fact that it isn't only a late game mod like the other nuclear-themed mods. It seems like you can start building lower power reactors relatively early. I had been planning - in my current play through - to expand my current resin power system until I was ready for biodiesel, but I think I'm going to jump into this as soon as I have the resources. This looks like a lot of fun.

At the beginning you mentioned to build a reactor with a fuel in mind. How should i build one that is going to deplete mox nuclear fuel for plutonium?
@NuclearCraftMod5 жыл бұрын
The way to build to a particular fuel is to estimate how many cells and moderators you can get away with in the reactor you've built - you want to work out how much space you need to leave for cooling, keeping in mind that, coolers work at a rate of about 90-100 H/t on average. So say you've built a 5x4x3 reactor, which has a volume of 60 blocks. That means that you start with an approximate cooling capacity of 6000 H/t, and every block you use up with a cell/moderator removes roughly 100 H/t from that. When the heat from the cell structure nearly matches the approximation of the amount of cooling space available, that's when you know to start trying to place the coolers. Sometimes it doesn't work, but sometimes it will and you'll have a reactor built to the choice of fuel :)

What is the equation for the heat generation
@apathy52186 жыл бұрын
I finally got to explore this mod in much more detail. I love most aspects of the mod but the gathering/creating fuels is the least fun thing about this mod. If the fuels were better handled, it would be my favorite mod by far, just way too much upkeep, convoluted with the amount of fuels.
@NuclearCraftMod6 жыл бұрын
Would an optional, simpler fuel system be something you're interested in? If so, which fuels should be available and what should they reprocess to?
@apathy52186 жыл бұрын
I am playing all the mods 3, so the extreme reactors materials are vastly different, more expensive to make in other packs I've played in. This makes extreme reactors sorta late game compared to Nuclearcraft fission reactors. I just found myself fighting with maintaining the fuel before you're progressed enough to start running quarry's to auto farm thorium and uranium then progressing to the other fuels by running depleted fuels through the reprocessor or imbuing mats with oxygen for oxide fuels. Running 9 thorium ingots through an isotope separator for 1 fuel seems sorta excessive for the base fuel. The need to cool the reactor is what drew me the most to nuclearcraft fission reactor, I think that is on point. My suggestion is to maybe make it a little easier to maintain base fuels while keeping the more endgame fuels the same. The ore gen for nuclearcraft is fine, its just the quantity needed for base entry level TBU fuel is where I found the biggest issue with. Maybe increasing the burn time on the beginning fuels would be the easiest. I know the player can modify a lot of that in the configs but I typically don't like doing that kinda stuff.
@NuclearCraftMod6 жыл бұрын
The problem is that I decreased the yield from thorium and uranium for their respective isotopes because other players said it was too easy to make a lot of fuel. If it really is just something like the base time of the fuels that you want to increase, it's very easy to do so in the config - you can even do it in-game, by just heading into the mod options.

@NuclearCraftMod4 жыл бұрын
That's also what's happening in the video, just at a slower rate. If you want to smooth the updating out a bit, increasing the delay with a redstone repeater should do :)

I used a fuel that said it had a 60m processing time and it only burned for 30. Do you maybe know why that is? Could it be because I used 2 reactor cells?

How am I supposed to make all of these "easy to craft" items when they all require boron and lithium? I play on skyfactory 4 and boron is a fairly rare ore to come across when the only place it is found is in the twilight forest dimension. It takes me about an hour of searching the small islands to find just a couple boron and I can make maybe 4-8 advanced plates with that. I tried using the laser drill to get boron but that requires an insane amount of power for it to even work. I am not sure what else to do other then spending hours and hours searching for boron and lithium just for a couple items to make 1 block when I need about 50.

I've been having an issue with active cooling. No matter which coolant I use, whether its water, Resonant Ender or Gelid Cryotheum, the cooling will never rise above -20. I've tried placing the Active Fluid Cooler adjacent to the Buffer. I've tried using different Fluid Conduits, Fluiducts, and even Laser Fluid Relays, yet nothing works any better. And yes, I am placing the Active Fluid Cooler in the correct position for the coolant.

All of my configs are default. Except for the power output of the Californium Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator, which I set to 1,000 RF/t. I use it for testing purposes. I took a bunch of screenshots of my test reactor setup. I tried with Resonant Ender, and Water. With both Ender IO Fluid Conduits, and with Thermal Expansions Fluiducts (with and without servo.) Nothing worked. Here's a link to my Postimage gallery with all the screenshots. postimg.cc/gallery/1rtchduzi/

I never promised that you wouldn't have to keep up :P And, well, first of all, not everyone might be using EIO or XNet, so they're still useful then, and even the best EIO conduits can only transfer 20 kRF/t at max, so you still may need ports if your reactor's output is higher than that.

really like the mod so far but a question off topic, don't have ender io in the pack i'm using and have just built my first fusion reactor. the issue I have is that when i put 2 portable fuel tanks down and activate them to put their liquids into the reactor one of them will fill both internal tanks unless i shift right click one of the internal tanks to empty it. is there a way to do this without losing the fuel in the reactor? ie having two import areas for different fuels?
@NuclearCraftMod6 жыл бұрын
Hey there - in the GUI of the fusion reactor there is a 'share tanks' button - toggling this should stop fluid spilling over into the next tank, so should solve your problem.

Hey, I'm playing FTB Revelation 1.12.2 with Nuclearcraft 2.12e installed, and when i look in NEI it tells me the only way to get basic plating is via dungeon chests. Any idea why?

You need to remove a line in one of the CT scripts which removes plate recipes - "mods.unidict.removalByKind.get("Crafting").remove("plate");"

Does this heat interface with Mekanism heat at all?
@NuclearCraftMod6 жыл бұрын
No, it does not - heat is just a number used internally by the reactor.

The emerald cooler seems a bit cheap for me, considering that I can just go to a village and trade my crops for loads and loads of emeralds. I think the efficiency should be based off of actual material effectiveness, not just how expensive a material is supposed to be, which can be very different depending on one's situation. Edit: Cooling with molten metal is even more silly and immersion-breakiing, because molten metal is usually extremely hot!
@ElectricGun1005 жыл бұрын
cough cough mercury cough cough
@tupoiu5 жыл бұрын
Liquid Sodium is actually used in real nuclear reactors as a coolant. If the inside of the reactor is hotter than the melting point of the material, you can use it as a coolant.

I can confirm that automating power via temperature levels does NOT work if the redstone feeds to a reactor port as in this image: gamepedia.cursecdn.com/ftb_gamepedia/7/7d/Nuclearcraft-solid-fuel-fission-heat-comparator.png?version=672054fa5462475ac9d5b2a4b7d84e41 I have recreated this image exactly and the redstone signal feeding into the reactor port does not turn on the reactor itself.
@NuclearCraftMod4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that image is misleading - you are right to say that ports can not handle redstone control.
