I’ve only recently discovered felting, and was quite sure that I only wanted to needle felt. However, I became curious about wet felting and started watching your videos. This is an amazing process, and your results are gorgeous! I can’t wait to try this now:) Thank you for sharing your knowledge in these excellent videos.

This is, by far, the best Nuno Felting tutorial I have seen. About a year ago, I went to a Nuno felting workshop here in Maine at the Haystack Mountain School of Fine Craft and I learned so much. I remember that before I went, I ordered all of my materials from you at Living Felt. Your video gave me some new ideas about how to create more texture in my felting. Thank you, Marie. I'll be coming back to watch it again!

I'm grateful for this series. I recently bought my first nuno felting "kit" from someone else at a fiber festival. When I got it home, I found there were no instructions and no silk in it. I looked at her website to find that I'd have to pay a lot more for instructions and silk. It was going to cost more than the $80 I would've paid for her finished scarf that I couldn't afford. So of course I began looking for other directions which is how I found your videos. I truly appreciate your generously sharing your knowledge. If I want to make more after my first project, I'll be glad to buy some supplies from your shop to show my appreciation.

Love your video! I will try this out soon! How would you go about adding anglina fiber for sparkle?
@LivingFelt
@LivingFelt 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much @sammmiej brinkman. To add Angelina... I find it most helpful to first hand blend it with a bit of merino top...you can apply it directly, but it needs to be well anchored with crossing fibers such as merino - otherwise it tends to stand up and look hairy. We have a free INTRO TO WET FELTING video in our facebook group LIVING FELT FRIENDS, it was a FELT-A-LONG held earlier this year. We used a variety of fibers in the sample we felted, including a bit of Angelina. We demonstrate the anchoring in it. Apply to the group, and you will find that video here: goo.gl/rxCnCf

Can we add fiber after it has been felted? Thanks for the sharing of your original work.
@LivingFelt
@LivingFelt 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Danielle, the only way to add fiber once a piece is "felted", is toneedke felt or stitch it in place.

Hi, when you start rolling did you remove the mesh underneath? And the mesh you are using is like the one you use for baby´s crip? Thank you
@LivingFelt
@LivingFelt 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Silvia, Sometimes I start rolling with the mesh in place, until a good surface skin is formed. Just make sure to peel it back to check that the wool is not sticking to it. I am not familiar with the mesh you are referring to. The mes I use is this: tinyurl.com/wetfeltmesh

I just watched this entire process, all your videos! Its amazing and so informative! Can you cut and sew the felt once its together? I'm really interested in making a halter top, with some silk dyed fabric coming out of the felt at the bottom to give it a super flowy effect. I recently saw a 'fairy' top like this and loved it, but would like to try making on myself. I love to craft! Any pointers you could give me would be super helpful, already been to your site and hoping to order soon! :)

How do you felt and attach straps? Same process?
@LivingFelt
@LivingFelt 7 жыл бұрын
You can cut and sew a well made felt. If you "nuno felt" with other fabrics, you might want to plan their placement so that you have 100% wool on any cut/sew lines. Straps can be felted in or sewn in.

Hello! I love your channel. Yesterday I made a scarf in nuno felt based on your videos. The result is a bit hard. I would like to know which fabric is the most recommended so that the result is not so stiff. I would like it to be softer and lighter without seeing the fabric. It is possible that since my English is not very good, I have not understood that fact. I think that i used Viscose. And I felt in both sides of the fabric trying not to let the fabric see, but i promise i put a thin layers of felt. thank you

Hello Paloma, Thank you for your feedback and great question. For a lighter weight and drape, try Silk GAUZE, or CHIFFON and also try MARGILAN SILK. You can also make a scarf not so densely textured like mine, and more drape will come from a diagonal cross hatch layout...it is a very light layout. I am not sure if we have demonstrated this, but it is becoming more common in wearables.

Hello. I am in Brazil and i liked a lot of his technique. Unfortunately this video (part 3) is no legend available.(If possible, label the video is very important, ok?) So, I would like to clarify some doubts: 1)The video (part 1) you distribute on colored wires (that look like yarns). What stuff is this? They need to be 100% cotton or may contain synthetic material? I believe that Brazil will not find these colored yarn or wires and materials with forms so different. Where can i buy these materials? 2) In the video (part 3) the water that you use is the ambient temperature, cold or hot? 3) The tool with relief (Silks Palm Washboard) that you use on the plastic (video part 3 and part 4) is made of wood? What is the function of it? It can be replaced by another tool? 4)Fabrics: It is only possible to use silk or it is possible to use other types of fabrics?

Hello Edna and thank you for your note. Regarding supplies -- we go over these in the first video, we are using Merino wool top, silk fibers and mohair It might help to browse them on our website where they are also for sale. We ship all over the world every day. www.livingfelt.com Look under FELTING WOOL AND FIBER - the palm washboard is wood. You can also use your hands, bubble wrap, roll the project only, try a rolling pin, there are many methods of agitating the wool to cause it to felt. Some of our other videos show different methods, as do other videos and books. - for the fabric, you can also use other fabrics that have an open weave. It can be helpful to test them first. Some poeple use synthetics and even cotton, but the fibers must be able to migrate through. Regarding labeling the video for the legend, I apologize but I do not understand this comment. I hope this is helpful!

Hello, friend. Thanks for the quick response. First of all, sorry for my english. I didn't know very well your language. I visited the site Http://www.livingfelt.com/, as referred me and I saw that there are some products that interest me. I want to run projects of Wet Felting - Nuno Felting. On this occasion, I would like to know if this site has the SILK PONGÊ 5 - with 1 meter and 40 of width - 100% pure. My supplier, in Brazil, several months ago, is not selling this silk! I am without the product to make my projects of silk painting. The site which pointed me, I tried to make my sign up, but I could not. I am in Brazil and the sending of products from other countries to Brazil is very expensive, because the import taxes. Then, I tried to make my account on the site, putting my name, but by placing the address and phone number of a friend who resides in Pennsylvania, USA. Then, the products I eventually buy would be sent to the residence of my friend. This my friend is flight attendant and always comes to Brazil, then she would bring the products to me. In the registration screen of the site, in comments, i tried to put this observation. Well, I'll check with my friend if the address of her is correct, as well as checking if the way I presented the data from the registration screen was correct too. About to the question of your video - part 3 - on KZbin, he is without the control button to be engaged the legend for any language. Even for the English. I asked you that, if possible, be available this feature, which already exists on your others videos: part 1, part 2 and part 4. Sorry to ask you check it, but i don't understand very well the conversation in English. I understand better if your text is written. Then, it will be easier for me to understand their explanations about the technique. Thank you for the explanations you have given me over the other matters. Finally, I will talk with my friend and trying to do my registration on the site again. Sincerely Edna.

An otherwise great tutorial, ruined by the voice. I had to watch in silence after a while. The voice intonations rise at the end of almost every sentence, which I found to be most disconcerting. Felt like I was being asked questions rather than taught something.
