I’m about to get my Halo75. Definitely going to use this video as my reference for modding. I think I’ll be doing the same mods you did! Thanks for showing the whole process instead of cutting parts out, it’s super helpful for a beginner like me!

Great video. I realized the white spacebar they provide with the 65 was not one of their Ghost Space Bars. The yellow one provided is one. I do much prefer it over the white with o-rings. Much less rattle and sounds better.
@nerdgrafx Жыл бұрын
Thank you! The Ghost Bar is definitely the better option here. I got this board when it was a preorder and unfortunately I did not receive the Ghost Bar with mine

I just got my Halo75 and this video really helped me do my own tape mod without getting scared lol. Thank you for this! I love my keyboard even more now.

That's great to hear! Enjoy your new keyboard!

Heyo, big tip here. I picked up some Red Dragon Bullet QL (quiet linear) switches and absolutely adore the sound and feel of them on this board. Instead of all the work you put in for the spacebar, try replacing just the spacebar switch with this. It works wonders.

Sick, thanks for the heads up man!

do i need to remove all the switches? can i just remove the switches and keycaps near the screws? also, do you think that its worth taking th board apart just to tape mod? ive heard that it doesnt make a different for certain boards and im wondring if this is one of those
@nerdgrafx2 жыл бұрын
You don't need to remove all the switches or keycaps if you don't really want to, just make sure you are careful to not damage them when splitting the two parts of the keyboard. Also, to my ears it did make a difference to the sound of this keyboard, you can always test it and if you don't like it, take it back out.
@bananu16156 ай бұрын
I was trying to tape mod and followed your tutorial exactly, but when taking apart the board there seems to be different parts than yours. Like a dampening silicon and and extra cord connected to the battery. Do you know if I can still mod it?
@nerdgrafx5 ай бұрын
I would reach out to Nuphy if it's still possible to mod. Most keyboards are the same, but I can't advise since I don't know what the internals of the newer ones look like.

Would you recommend any key caps for this keyboard or are the normal ones good

Thanks for the video , can’t wait to get my 75. Do you think the steps will be the same to do t he tape mod?
@nerdgrafx2 жыл бұрын
Yes, from the looks of the 75, everything will be the same in the build of the keyboard so the steps should be the same on adding the tape mod to the keyboard.

How'd u remove the thicker part of the keyboard (1 - backspace)? For my 75, I can't pull them apart
@nerdgrafx2 жыл бұрын
The two parts do need to be pulled apart in the 65 since they have a hook like system to keep them in place. I’m not sure if it’s the same for the 75, but you might need to use a little more force to pull the keyboard apart. As always though, do it at your own risk and take your time so you don’t break anything in the process.

Do i need to poke holes in the tape? I dont plan on taking the switches out
@nerdgrafx2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t heard of anyone not poking holes, but usually the switches are off. You can always try it and see how it sounds, if it’s too hollow, you can always mod it again

What stabilizers would you recommend as an upgrade to this board?
@nerdgrafx Жыл бұрын
Hey there, I unfortunately don't have any good stabilizer recommendations since the ones they use are plate mounted from what I remember. I haven't really found any plate mounted stabilizers that are better or worse
@esoteric74882 жыл бұрын
Is there any concern of adding the tape with the battery there (in terms of it being a fire hazard)?
@nerdgrafx2 жыл бұрын
No there should be no issue as long as you don't puncture the battery while taking the keyboard apart.
@irrnebel38082 жыл бұрын
Wonderful fix. Which o-rings did you buy? 40A or 70A?
@nerdgrafx2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I used the G40-Thin is what Amazon calls them
@irrnebel38082 жыл бұрын
@@nerdgrafx Thank you so much. That's A40 in Europe. Okay. I managed to fix that issue with using a low profile switch for the space bar. That works. Also, the space bar issue has been addressed in the nuphy Ghost Bar collab shipping in December. (it's the yellow space bar)
@nerdgrafx2 жыл бұрын
@@irrnebel3808 I saw that too. Hopefully their new keyboards come with the updated spacebar.

Do you think lubing the stabilisers will help reduce the rattling as well? Literally just removed my enter few times and there’s already rattling after putting it back in
@nerdgrafx2 жыл бұрын
My stabilizers were already pretty well lubed when I got the keyboard. The only thing that might help, is getting some better plate mounted stabilizers and lubing those.
@Rexune Жыл бұрын
not sure if you fixed this, but generally after removing it a couple of times the lube kind of gets smudged off, so reapplying lube would help yeah. (atleast this was the case for me and reapplying lube fixed it, as there was no rattle before and there was one after i removed it several times)

Great guide, did same and it worked :D must say, took me 3 hours of sweating as its very well made keyboard but it was worth it :D shame i wasnt able to mount also foam as i wasnt able to close keyboard together after hah :D srsly, no matter how strong i was pressing it wasnt letting screw in screws :P anyway, great guide :P
@nerdgrafx4 ай бұрын
Hahaha thank you! I'm glad it was helpful. I have been there with the foam, but it's always best to leave it out instead of forcing it

I noticed you didnt mod the stabs in this video. Are they ok stock?
@nerdgrafx2 жыл бұрын
They were not bad enough to change. The difference would be too small to notice for me. The spacebar is pretty bad on this model though. I think they have since upgraded their new ones to have the new spacebar design

Ok my Keyboard Therme is a nother Kabel idk for what kalt is ( Its Not for for battery) also my pcb is white
@nerdgrafx2 жыл бұрын
That is weird. Is it also a Halo65? and was it purchased new or used?
@hueynguyen85 Жыл бұрын
you dont need to make holes for the switches, only for the standoffs.
@nerdgrafx Жыл бұрын
Ahhh I didn’t know that. This could’ve saved me time and some scratches on the pcb 😅 thank you!
@MrTurbored21 Жыл бұрын
your spacebar is warped... thats why its not connecting correctly with the stabilizers .... you really need to lube those stabs as well once done all that rattle will dissapear... the stabs factory arent horrible but they most definitely need lubed the factory lube is very uneven stock
@nerdgrafx Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have also realized that the spacebar on this one had a faulty mold so I ended up using tape on the stabs for a while to tighten the spacebar and then sold the keyboard overall
@randybaguinon Жыл бұрын
Foam + ORing in spacebar wont work - it wont actuate. Just get a ghostbar. Also, all that mod but didnt bother relubing and taping your stabs??? Nuphy did a bad job on lubing - both on stabs and their switches.
@nerdgrafx Жыл бұрын
I unfortunately had received one of the earlier units before the ghost spacebar was released, but I did hear it solved a lot of the problems so I would recommend going with that one if you can. Relubing the stabilizers and switches is also a great idea if you have the tools already, but a little more advanced since it requires extra tools to get it done and I decided to keep this video a little more beginner friendly😊

Not true. I have only ever done 2 layers and it always sounds thick.
