@2:32 "Lower barrier to entry for people to join the hobby"... "barrier" now being a near universally recognized euphemism for knowledge, skill and intelligence. Well, that's on point with the rest of reality. Have at it. NASQUAD!

@mistercohaagen8 жыл бұрын
Depends on what sort of knowledge is conducive to having good peers in a scene. Is that purely piloting technique or competitiveness? Is that the extent of the conversations you want to be able to have at a race? Or does the insight into physics and technology gained from experimentation, and patience derived from having developed the technical abilities to design, build and pilot yield a wiser and more enjoyable peer? Nerfing and AOL-ifying entire scenes that previously required serious volition and discipline for entry has never made things better for the people that started a scene. At the end of the day, you're cultivating the people who'll be sitting next to you if you're still around after the dilution and jockification of yet another haven for people that are demonstrably passionate about intelligence, even if misled in terms of application. I think to some degree, drone racing is already a lost cause in these respects... though I do see the obvious merit in mainstream acceptance of the technology. This channel features you as an optimal role model as you focused in on racing to win... and all the value you add to the scene by being able to talk about the lowest to highest level aspects of technology and technique in a cohesive and insightful manner here and in person. Will a channel like this or a person like you result from someone pissing away disposable income on a trendy toy? I don't see how these products relate to what drone racing is as a scene today, and they stand some chance of corrupting it.

the sonar only works on smooth and legs! surfaces tho, it doesn't work very well above grass. but I guess you can learn to fly above concrete or so before turning it off. also, the frame reminds me a lot of the TBS vendetta. did connex work together with TBS on this product?

I didn't get a chance to try it on grass, so that's an interesting thought. I don't believe there was a collab with TBS.

how is $800 a low barrier to entry?
@raider12848 жыл бұрын
you could not make that quad, with its same functionality, for anywhere near 800.
@CJDavies8 жыл бұрын
The sonar/shield tech seems like a really neat approach for new pilots, but bundling a ProSight system into what is supposed to be a 'beginner' quad makes the price unrealistic for most curious potential pilots IMO. If I hadn't flown before & was interested in giving it a go, I would be a lot more tempted by a $200 Eachine Wizard setup that I could wreck/lose/give-up-after-a-few-days without crying too much, than dropping $800 on this Connex that would be mortifying if I lost it - which let's face it, is a serious risk for new pilots flying miniquads with no GPS.

Yes. Totally. But there's a difference between reality and theory, right? This is here and it works. Your naze and sonar is there and doesn't. :-/ Also, considering your average "go to best buy and buy it" user doesn't know how to wire a naze or hook up a sonar..

I was just looking at this on getfpv and thought it was interestingly priced. it is a nice design as far as keeping things condensed in a new users hands. it is a shame that Connex hasnt figured out a way to get a DVR into the mix. i was out at a MultiGP Points Race in orlando fl and a few pilots had Connex but way bulkier setups than what you just reviewed. not bad at all for a beginner, not bad at all. i think the goggles requirement might be a little more steeper than $100 tho, i havent seen the HDMI input on many of the cheaper models of goggles, maybe some eachines as they are releasing a new version of their HDMI capable goggles. but over all great job on the review, i'd like to get my hands on this to review for my audience!

hmm might be the right thing for me, I've flown a few times with quads before but never at high speeds or FPV. But I wonder if it's better just to build my own quad that can be changed to my ability, otherwise I have to spend twice the money

@Ucceah8 жыл бұрын
i cant say, i feel torn about this. as soon as something like "full acro shield mode" is implemented in non-prorietary firmware, i can see it becoming very popular with casual FPV flyers. it would prevent a lot of crashes, but it would be highly motivating, to fly safe enough, that the automation doesnt have to intervene and save your ass (or at least your props). this tank isn't gonna win any race anyways. but i doubt, the DRL would allow aids like this in the future, let alone for drone racing to turn into a software arms race.

Hi Bulbufet FPV, great video, thank you. I'm not sure why all the hate, but when computer GUIs came out, I understand some of the DOS folks being upset. Anyways, I love your videos. I'm new to the hobby (had my first few flights last week) and love it! However, I'm disappointed in the video quality and am upgrading to the best analogue I can find, and then to the Connex Prosight too. I was looking at getting another Vendetta and fitting it out with the Prosight, however, like you said, for that price, getting another drone with HD FPV is pretty good. And I don't have to spend time on things other than flying. (Right now, I don't have much time or ability to tinker with the electronics, but this will change in 8 months. Hence, right now, I just want to fly as much as possible.) So my question to you is... how would you compare the flying capabilities of the Falcore to the TBS Vendetta or something similar? You said it was a good entry level quad. I'm looking for an intermediate capability quad (definitely not expert nor pro at this point). My main desire is to fly around trees, obstacles, and abandoned buildings, and explore 3-D space. I may do some racing, but this is my second priority to smooth acro-type flying. Can the Falcore be upgraded with more powerful motors?
@blackmennewstyle8 жыл бұрын
Interesting approach! But they should not forget that price is always the THING which matters at the end! You should not be surprised that people buy stuff from Banggood especially at beginning when every crash costs a lot sometimes (and after though) lol Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend P.S.: Who cares about dislikes in 2017, on youtube only views matter!

@jonbbaca55807 жыл бұрын
huh, looks like an HD beginner Vendetta. I just don't know who this is for. If someone was really serious about getting into fpv racing, I'd recommend spending the $800 on all the basics: good radio, batteries and charger, tiny whoop, some decent goggles and a cheaper rtf or better yet a kit. I appreciate that it makes it easy to learn the basics, but just get a syma x5 for $30 or learn on a sim. This seems to be designed for people who are curious and wouldn't even bat an eye at spending $800 on a new toy. Interesting for sure, but not for me

Very interesting Bulbufet, LMAO at all the haters, lets see you fly without gyros then? I can envisage the video tech from autos hitting the quads scene in a while. 'Seeing' the gate and correcting the course to intercept? So you'll have to make artificial rules about what technology you can use and what you cant.
@t395delta7 жыл бұрын
You had me untill you mentioned the price. Nice access to the guts, I like that.
@triggermovies8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I agree with you. We've all been beginners at some point, and we didn't need such a quad to learn. Also, I'm pretty sure you don't "graduate" from one mode to the other. I think it's the opposite : you learn bad habits from shield and auto-level modes. Once you can navigate a course decently fast in shield mode, I think it'll be even harder to step to the next mode, because it means you'll be slower, have to "un-learn" the habits you took relying on the autopilot, and have to re-learn a bunch of things. If someone isn't interested enough in FPV to start in acro from the get-go, I think they'll get stuck in assisted modes. Maybe it's not a bad things though, some people might enjoy spec-racing in shield mode... For beginners, I think simulators are a much better option. You can start in acro without worrying about breaking your quad, learn throttle management, and train your muscle memory for the correct inputs right away. Anyway, still an interesting video :) Thanks for sharing !

Bulbufet FPV oh you're talking about rich people with tons of extra money I thought you meant for the average person who wants to get into fpv I would imagine the average person makes around 12 2 $14 an hour this is not even a possibility for anyone like you said in the beginning of the video this is for rich people who have tons of money two ways I've never heard of anyone buying a phantom no problem heard about people making huge investments and saving tons of money to buy their Phantom that they treat like a child and would never fly it into things I'm not trying to argue I'm just giving my honest opinion about this they might as well just go buy a catalyst machineworks racing drone if they're going to really try it out
@heroicuser85207 жыл бұрын
The phantom is for cinematography and this is for racing which are completely different. However if you're new to drone racing I'd recommend this. Sure it's expensive but in the drone world it's relatively cheap.

I think this is the stupidest thing Connex could do. Their a company that designs HD down links, Not Quads... that extra moneys that I pay for a Connex system, is for future development... this is not future development. they should be innovating, with continued design of there down link system, not quad design. just like the Karma? don't buy a quad from a camera maker. just like you don't buy a camera from a Quad maker. I though with the extra $150 I pay for a Connex,? it goes into future innovation, in there field. This isn't future innovation in there field. what a waste they could have had a Smaller and Better prototype HD V2 down link by now.

The pro-sight is far to ahead of a beginner in my (Opinion) an for -800! Hell for under 500 DOLLARS! you can get a Flysky transmitter/Receiver Combo for 50$ A Frame 40$-80$ depending on your pick A set of quality high end esc's another 60-80$ an E-max Redbottom's 70$ 20$ On Props 2-batteries say 60$ BAM! Flying For: 330$ THEN for FPV Quanum V2 goggles 50$ lumenier diversity receiver 60$ An bosch 600mw transmitter on ebay 20$ A cheap wide angle cam ebay under 20$ WALLAH For: 460$ NO NEED TO PISS 800$ on HD Fpv Quad I KNOW I KNOW its so you wont have to build it, BUT! what GOOD PEOPLE should be telling you is this hobby involes allot of fixing no matter what you do, if building is a deterrent for you then don't even step near the hobby. An no quads gonna stop something from snapping bending or braking its part of the hobby. Your gonna crash A LOT! PROMISE, SO GET A 4mm SOLID! frame no bigger then a 250mm an go thrash an thrash some more. HD isn't of interest in the beginning getting better an enjoying flight is an that's it ! The market just wants to take advantage of new comers with B.S. easy up an go kits 80% of the people won't be able to afford this an be swayed from flying it's a nice try but way to high in price cause of what they did. Building is how you learn your Miniquads in's an out's its everything if you avoid that then you'll be down over stupid shit all the time cause you wont know what to look at to get back up an flying. FLY WITH RESPECT TO OTHERS AROUND YOU AN BEWARE THE B.S. people will try an sell you if your new ( DO YOUR RESEARCH IS ALL IT TAKE'S ) Rant Over Btw love your Race Video's Epic S#$T MAN! ;) btw sorry for the massive typo's :)

I don't disagree with any of this, but I DO believe that there's a market for no-nonse plug in and fly and not search through hobby king and banggood sorts of things. Nowhere did I say that this was THE solution, but what I'm hoping is that it takes it out of niche hobby and into mainstream a little bit, so that people start to appreciate the awesome things that we do. Does that make any sense?
