Thank you, for this video. It's very informative. I have 3 of the 1 cup size. I have used them mainly to freeze soup. I buy delicious Hot and Sour Soup by the quart from our local Chinese restaurant. I love this soup and defrost one cube in the microwave for lunch. As a note, I wrap my frozen blocks in plastic wrap before putting them in the Ziploc bags. The reason is that it keeps the blocks from developing freezer burn and keeps the blocks from fusing together in the freezer.

I bought the Souper Cubes a few months ago after seeing them on one of your videos, and I love them. I live alone, so recipes (especially casseroles) often make too many serving for me to use up in one or two meals. I use the 2-cup cubes the most often for dinner-sized portions, but the 1-cup trays are really helpful for Gustavo Tolosa's Savory Oat Groats (because that recipe make a LOT!) Thank you for sharing your experience and helpful tips - there's always a gold nugget of information to use to make my life healthier. Cheers!

It works! My Souper Cubes are in constant use, and had developed a funky freezer smell. I tried every soaking/cleaning method with little success. Tried the baking method (30 minutes @ 350 degrees) this morning, and it worked beautifully - odor is gone!! Thanks Tami 😊

i had no idea that they designed them to fit so many in gallon bags! thank you! recently just purchased some for freezing cauliflower mash for keto. (i was originally freezing portions in large icecream scoops. incredibly inefficient for space saving and stacking

I love mine! I freeze all my cooked food and store the portions in two chest freezers. I take the frozen portions and Food Saver bag them, leaving enough bag at the seal to cut open, get out what I want, then re-seal :)

SOOO convenient.. can't help but wonder if silicone is being leached into food though... glass is safer option but a complete pain to defrost and get the soup out...

I absolutely love my Souper Cubes! I saw the video right after you first spoke of them. Not only is it handy that the frozen food stacks but when I previously flattened quart size ziplocs full of food to freeze and stack the frozen food was not a useful size for reheating in the microwave in my bowls. I always had to reheat in one larger bowl that held the entire flattened square (size of a quart size ziploc bag) and then pour the few armed food into a different bowl for eating. Even though the food had been flattened before freezing the bags did not stack well. They used to slide and the stacks would fall over. And it was difficult to get food that was frozen in the baggies out of the baggies while still frozen! The baggies would often rip While taking the food out which meant I could not reuse them! Everything is so much easier now with the Souper Cubes! Thanks so much for introducing the rest of us to them!

Thank you! I didn't know you can freeze lemon extracts 🤯. But how do you unfreeze them? Just sit at room temp or you microwave them? Also, am I correct in my understanding you just use baking soda or vinegar for cleaning instead of dishwashing liquip/soap?

@@arvi8843 thaw out at room temperature or remove from the Souper cubes and transfer to a microwave safe dish and thaw out. To clean wash in the dishwasher or hand wash with dish soap and hot water.

Souper Cubes are great. I have been using them about 6 months or a year before I saw Tammy & Tom talk about them. Two more points....I am wondering if they can be put in microwave, they feel like they have metal in the rim? Also, you could mention the rim is what makes the items so much easier to remove. and the last point to point out, when popped out and kept in plastic bags, the food inside takes the minimum amount of freezer space! Also...add to above, they are very stable when you add a lot of heavy food, they do not tip and when placed in freezer to freeze, they do not tip. Yet the bottoms are pliable to remove the food. Genius design.

Hello cjsews Thank you for your comments and question. Yes the rim makes the trays more stable during handling and frozen product removal. To answer your question....The Souper Cubes do not go in the microwave due to the reinforcing metal inside the rim. You can bake in a conventional oven to 415 degrees f. but no microwave. I bought the 4-pack of souper cubes in order to see which sizes might be most useful for my needs. I thought they were amazing before I used them. They are like no silicone molds I’ve ever bought, they are sturdy, they are heavy weight, and they seem to solve a lot of my food portioning/storage issues. However, after one use, each of the forms still smells like the food that I put in them. When I took the food out I washed the forms in hot soapy water and let them air dry. And I could still smell the food I had frozen in them previously. So I remembered reading on the website that they recommend putting them in the dishwasher. So I ran a special cycle of my dishwasher simply so I could wash these molds and reuse them. Coming out of the dishwasher and after air drying they still smelled like the food I had frozen in them (marinara, coconut milk, and chipotle sauce). The mold that had marinara sauce was also still discolored, which I would not have minded if it didn’t also still smell like marinara sauce. I saw somewhere on KZbin about doing a baking soda treatment for a couple of hours. But frankly if I have to go through all of that work to use these every time, they are useless to me. They’re supposed to be a convenience, not add work to my food processing.

HI CH. I am sorry that you have had that experience with Souper Cubes I have not had that happen even when I use them for freezing things made with curry seasonings. Thank you so much for your response. I have reached out to the company and hopefully I will hear back from them. I was actually very surprised because in their faqs they say this: “We have never had any residual smells or odors even though we’ve been using the same tray for over two years to freeze foods with garlic, onions, tomatoes, ginger, cumin, and other spices/ingredients.” But, even now, hours after I’ve gotten my forms out of the dishwasher, there is still residual smell. But anyway thank you for your good wishes.

Hi, well I am baffled. I did get a response. They told me the same things I had already read on the website. And reiterated that they have never had a residual odor. So, like I said I am baffled, because so far MYTHING I FREEZE IN THEM

Sorry I hit the wrong button on my iPad. anything I froze in them has left a residual odor. If I had expected a residual odor from silicone, which I have experienced with other products, I wouldn’t be upset. But they say they’ve never had a residual odor and everything I put in mine has left an odor. Even when I put it in the dishwasher the dishwasher soap leaves an odor. So I’m doing the baking them for 30 minutes in a 350 oven to see if that helps. But I certainly don’t want to have to put them in the oven and bake them after every use, especially since the whole point of them is to remove your frozen items store it in baggies in the freezer and then move onto the next food you want to freeze, every time I use them. So I’m feeling a bit confused and lost. Thank-you so much for taking the time to respond.

Thanks for this, Tami! I was never a huge fan of freezing things, but that has all changed with Souper Cubes! I just popped out 1 C. servings of Pinto Beans for Mexican chopped salad, have several 2 C. servings of your Curry Butternut Squash soup, and was so pleased with how my individual 2 C. lasagnas turned out (although the tomato sauce did stain the cube). Can't wait to try lentil loaf!

I am in Canada. What are the dimensions of your gallon size ziploc bag? When you hold up your bag it looks longer than the large ziploc bags that I can buy here. I am worried that I would only be able to fit 2 of the 2cup soupers.

I see no point in getting the 2 cup version when each tray holds the same as the 1 cup but the 1 cup is more versatile. Right? Am I missing something?

Lisa we like the 2 cup cubes for our stews, soups and chili as that is a serving for us and it makes it convenient. But we all have different habits so get what seems to work the best for you. They are fantastic!

I love my Souper Cubes! I bought two “gift sets” on your Black Friday special. I use the little two TB ones to make ice cubes because I don’t use the ice maker in my fridge. In the one cup size I have frozen Ethiopian Lentils, Black Bean Chili

...Ooops - it posted before I was finished. I've also frozen potato soup and marinara. Next I'm going to make Nutmeg Notebook's Hearty Vegetable Lentil Stew and freeze that. Then I want to freeze single grains and beans. And next time I only need one Tablespoon of tomato paste from a can, I can use the small one to freeze 1 TB squares of the rest of it. No waste. I am just cooking for me. This allows me to have variety in my meals by having many different dishes and components, ready at my disposal. Because they are uniform and rectangular/square they fit together closely and allow very efficient use of your freezer space - very little wasted space! Tami you mention they are dishwasher safe and you only hand wash them. I'm wondering if they are dishwasher "top rack only" safe or if they can go on the bottom rack? I'm guessing yes as they are oven proof to 415 but still would love confirmation before I potentially ruin my brand new sets. We recommend using the dishwasher (on a normal cycle) to clean your Souper Cubes® trays and lids after each use. This is the best way to make sure your Souper Cubes® are as clean as possible." It does not indicate top or bottom.

Stupid question, but how would you dethaw something like rice? I'd like to start using them more for things other than soup, but I'm not sure what the dethaw process would be for other things. Just the microwave?

We just use the microwave 1 to 1.5 minutes, or when one container in the fridge is getting low. we bring in another to thaw over night.

Great question. I have not had any staining on mine. They do sell some dark colors if you’re worried about staining. Some tomato products, curry or turmeric powder can stain silicone. They do address this in their Q & A on their website with solutions for what to do if you get staining.
