This is, without a doubt, the quintessential EDC gun. Isn't it the most popular 9mm pistol in the entire world? Glad I have mine. I've gone away from it twice, once for a Steyr S9A1, and most recently the HK VP9. Both times, I came back to the Glock 19 Gen 4. For me, it is the perfect gun for EDC.

The G19 is my very first pistol. Completely spoiled with it's reliability. After watching TNP for a while and studying them, TNP totally helped me with my purchase of my first CC pistol. As a smaller dude, it's rather hard to conceal, but I make it work. Will probably go to the G43 for summer carry. With it's 5 years of service and tons of rounds down range, no failures of any kind what so ever. Can't thank TNP enough for helping me with my choice, and education on CC. HEY NUT'N....Can you say SOG FLASH TANTO BLADE? My fave EDC blade, I'm lovin it. I appreciate all you and your channel does. Thank you for your service. God bless.

Re: extended base plates. I purchased a Gen4 Glock and was sure to also order three mag extensions along with it. This all happened rather recently so what I ordered was the most recent edition of the Glock factory mag extension. The most obvious difference between the new and old is the old says "+2" on the bottom whereas the new only has "+" on the bottom. It seems to me that the newer version of the extension has fixed the problem the old ones had. The new extensions have two buttresses that come up into the mag and intersect with the internal plate that resides between the follower spring and the external base plate.

Perfect carry gun in my opinion. You can't beat the capacity, the weight, the ease of use, or the price. I prefer to carry the 19 over the 26. I don't like small guns and the 19 is in the perfect "Goldy Locks" zone: not to big, not too small.

Coming up on 1911's and S&W wheel guns it took awhile for me to even try that "plastic" gun, lol, I still remember the newscasters going on about how it could defeat a airport metal detector, rotf, that caused a mild panic for awhile. I got my first G-17 in a trade many years ago and within a half hour shooting it I fell in love, I currently own a 17, 19 (x2), 30 & 36 most days one of the 19's is ccw, I do use the brass stacker rods in most of them, needed or not I sleep better using them. Great vid, most ppl don't think much about the 19 anymore, glad you brought attention back, if you do revisit it again, I'd like to hear about which barrel/caliber swaps can safely be made on which frames.

I really like my G19; it has eaten everything I fed it, even steel case ammo with no problems. Only FTFs I saw out of it was when I let others shoot it...likely due to limp wrist or weak grip. Thank you for the vid Nutn'!

Anyone having problems with weak injection with 9 mm Glocks by the trigger housing and ejector part number 28927. It's a 40 caliber ejector but works wonders for 9 millimeter. Even if you have a gen 3 you can put that ejector into the gen 3 housing and it will work. This is also the best 4 40 caliber handguns with 9 mm conversion barrels. My G 23 ejects 40 and 9mm very well. I'm convinced this will help with the dedicated 9mm pistols as well.

Excellent vid. I had no choice. I walked into "GUNS for the good guys" in CT. I was looking for a new one, but they were wiped out. Over in the USED case a guy was standing over a used G19 gen 3. He got tired of waiting for a rep (as usual, that's normal there) anyway I waited almost 40 on top of the already 30 min waited. I bought it used with meprolite nights & 1 mag for $369 out the door. it also has the extended slide lock. It functions perfectly. I bought 3 more mags and a new steel guide rod (just because I like it). I'm a 1911 guy but this is my edc now. Warm weather I carry a G42. You just can not beat a Glock.

I bought a gen4 17 a few years ago right after they came out and fell in love right away. The only two things I don't like is the slick finish on the slide and the plastic sights but, those can be easily fixed. I like how on the Glock the gun can be completely taken apart and cleaned. My only wish is that Glock would offer more custom upgrades straight from the factory; like sights, ceracoat, trigger upgrades, slide release upgrade. Please do a review on the Glock 42.

After I left the Army I was a process server for a few months and at that time the G19 was my only pistol. I thankfully never had to use it, and it carried very well. I know this is an old review, but might as well comment anyway. I just picked up this pistol in the Gen 4 version (new) for $425 out the door in Indiana. Great price and its a great weapon to have. I first started shooting with the G22 Gen 4 and used that as my duty weapon for a few years. Over time I have shot Springfield, Taurus, S&W and other pistols, but the Glock seems to be the one that I keep running back too. The price is one of the main reasons why I seem to collect them, but its the pistol that I'm most comfortable with. The G19 fully loaded is a lot lighter than my G22 fully loaded which is why I bought it as a CCW. I use a Crossbreed holster with the G19 with no complaints. I would have gone with a G26 but my hands are too big and I didn't like the grip. I wonder how this world would be like with out Glock? I believe its one of the most popular pistols out there today and the availability on holsters and accessories are so easy to obtain and plentiful. I know that there are other great pistols out there and some maybe better than the Glock, but Glock beat everyone to the punch, and everyone else wants to be like them now. Thanks for all you do, and for doing it for free for us subscribers, and for those who need unbiased real life info on a variety of products. The G19 is also my bed side pistol with my KA-BAR 7" Strait Edge. TNP for life.

@entoptics10 жыл бұрын
@ about 21:00 min you mention modding a "bigger slide release" You use a right thumb UNDER left thumb grip. Currently, the most "popular" grip is right thumb OVER left thumb. Right handed people trained this way should almost NEVER get a bigger slide release. Their strong thumb (right) will ride on the top of the slide release and cause the gun to occasionally not slide lock on the last round. The OEM Glock slide release minimizes this by being as close to the frame as possible. This is a good thing. It's easier to train to aggressively sweep the slide lock on reloads (or slingshot) than it is to train someone to hold their thumb way up in the air to avoid bumping an aftermarket, protruding slide stop lever.

I Love my Glock 19 Gen 4! I'm still testing which aftermarket sights are going to stay on my G19 (Heinie ledge 3D sights vs Trijicon HD sights orange) and everything else on the gun is stock. Once I finish my tests between the two by the end of the week I can go on to holster draws, reload drills and get ready to dive into the world of IDPA SSP.
@92JoseR10 жыл бұрын
I suggest you also look at Ameriglo. I love the pro operator sights they make. Put some on my G19 gen 4. They're basically made and branded by trijicon. But a whole lot cheaper.
@philthiac10 жыл бұрын
I'm also testing the Spartan Ameriglos too, but I'm not too crazy about the rear not being serrated like my main two. The rear tritium is yellow diminished which is something the other two don't have, so you can say this is going to be a diverse battle. By the end of the week I'll comment which ones performed the best for me.
@BlackWolf18C10 жыл бұрын
Phillip Wellendorf The sights on my EDC G19 are stock as yet but I've shot competitions with XS Big Dots on other guns and it's impressive the difference in times simply switching to those sights makes. They're not good for making very precise shots but for fast combat accuracy, I have yet to find anything that beats them.
@philthiac10 жыл бұрын
I've tried vertical style of sights, but I've never done good with them, plus at night judging the right amount of space between the two dots is annoying. I'm just more precise with the 3 dot setup and also I want to be able to use the rear sight to rack the slide in case of an emergency. A may try the XS big dots or the smaller standard version in the future, but for right now I've got three sights competing for my approval at the moment.
@philthiac10 жыл бұрын
I'm redoing this comment as I cancelled one sight in favor for another one due to my personal knit picky requirements. Testing will be put on hold as I've ordered the Ameriglo CAP orange front/Pro operator yellow rear sight combo to compete along side my Spartans. The front sight is a square orange surrounding a tritium vile and the rear ordered is slightly higher so I can use a tradition sight picture #2 on the target where as the Spartans are made to be used with the #3 "Using the middle dot" sight picture. I will not be testing fiber optics because I'm not going to turn this into a race only gun. My sights must reflect what the Glock 19 is supposed to be: The jack of all trades, but master of none.

It really goes deep into my love hate relationship with the g19. Nutin exposes something that has been deep in my mind about the g19. Its a great introduction gun but the g26 is better for carry and the g17 is better for multipurpose or designated tactical ability. Not going to go into the 34/35. I had a revelation tonight about how I shoot the large size sf frames better and it dawned on me that the finger spacing is literally molded to my hand on a g17, the sight radius is commanding, and the magazine capacity is confidence inspiring. “just a sweet memoire of my 14+ year relationship with glock....”

Hey Nutn, think polly pistols will last as long as steel pistols or even 50 years from purchasing date?

I had most of the popular quality stuff from Kahr to Kimber, Springfield to S&W M&P. The Gen3 Glock 19 is my favorite for carry, shooting, reliability and comfort. I had Mepro sights put on when the original Trijicons aged.

NUTN : When you say do not modify the frame, does this include stippling? Thinking seriously about doing my gen 3 19. Thx in advance

The only Glock model I've owned has been the G23. I traded in my TaurusPT92 (a fine pistol but just too big and heavy for most of my uses) for a gen3 G23C with night sights. Fantastic! The compensated barrel seemed to dirty up the front sight quickly however. On the day of the centennial of the M1911's adoption into military use I traded my G23C in for my first 1911. I missed the Glock's simplicity and size almost immediately and saved up for another G23 (I'm never parting with my 1911). I got another gen3 G23 (not C model) and took home a Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion barrel the same day. The G23 usually wears the 9mm barrel. I will not make the mistake of being without it again.

Not sure if I agree that its not a competition gun. I carry my Glock 19 Gen 4 all the time. I use it for USPSA production class as well. Do that about twice a month. Only allowed 10 rounds per mag in that class anyway. I find it very concealable when I carry it and it works extremely well for production pistol. I show up with it in a IWB holster, transition to a OWB for the shoot and it goes back to the IWB holster right after. I do not find that I am at a disadvantage to a glock 17 or any other full sized pistol. it draws fast and puts the rounds right where I need them. Even purchased this new with glock night sights. I can still hit and knock down steel plates at 20-25 yards consistently under stress....but, that is just my 2 cents.

Do you shoot right handed but left eye dominate?

Can you provide the site that sells the Blade tech G19 IWB holster for under $20? I can't seem to find one under $40.

I have a question for TNP'ers, My Gen1 G17, leave as original or upgrade to gen3 ? was thinking of taking it in to Glock. I do have a Gen3 G22 with both a 40 and 9 barrel. But would my Gen1 be a better GTWG if it was updated ?

Sup TNP? Say I just bought me a new G19 G4. I been carrying a Springfield 3.8 XDM .45cal for the past 3years. Should I switch to the G19 for carry? What would you carry? Thanks!

I was doing a pistol class last year and we shot about 500 rounds. Towards the end of the day I changed mags and slapped the bottom in to seat it correctly, then the factory glock base plate on a factory glock magazine flew off and all my rounds hit the ground. Needles to say I changed mags but I haven't used those plates again.

Never liked Glock, but I have never owned one. With all of Nutnfancy's glowing reviews, I am interested. 25 years in the making - that is a hell of a testing phase :-)

Have a G19 Gen 4 and think it's the all around best gun. Great size, good capacity and very capable caliber. 9mm isn't too snappy but still a good size.
