I've had this mixer for over a year and I truly love it. As with all equipment, it takes a little getting used to & a learning curve. It's a powerful machine & very sturdy. I've made all sorts of doughs & cookies; single & multiple batches & it works beautifully. For me, I love the top load feature & it's kneading strength. It just takes some patience. I keep the lid on when kneading & the little bit of heat & condensation it generates helps the dough loosen & knead. I highly recommend. Oh and by the way, this is the first stand mixer I've ever owned ♡♡. Be well.

I made probably 50+ loaves of bread in December using my beautiful red KitchenAid. The bigger one. I love it, but this certainly is enticing! To buy or not to buy. That is the question. Also, Amy, I'm going to check out your cooking videos, because I decided that I was going to learn to cook this year. YAY!!! I'm 75, and when my twin sister and I were getting married, we asked our mom to teach us to cook. Her response was, "You'll learn when the time comes!" GULP! I had learned to bake in 8th grade home ec, but in cooking I never learned to do much more than make casseroles. So I went to the library and stocked up on books, and yesterday I made a Pork Roast with Rosemary and Garlic and Creamed Onions. I never knew I could do that! My husband is over the moon! Maybe if I keep up the great meals my husband will buy the mixer for me? Guess I'll keep my fingers crossed. : )

I have been watching your videos for quite sometime now and I want to thank you for all the time you give to each product so we don't go blind to spend all our money which could end up in the garbage. I'm on the verge to buy this machine so I came to see your point of view and I was able to see how you came to the conclusion that the dough kneading is poor. I saw the machine just going around doing nothing as you did, so I went to check other videos I saw before and I think that the problem might be in the hydration of the dough because the test that they put this machine into, is to add color to the dough and check how well it got incorporated, and the machine mixes the dough and color perfectly fine, which is a plus for me because I like to do colored pasta dough and with the planetary I was never able to have a uniform color. So you might be right and needs to be used several times to find the perfect point for the dough. Again, thank you for your time! I enjoy your videos very much!

I have had this mixer for around 3 months. I really like it. At first I was concerned it seemed that the motor kinda lagged a bit while I was doing bread. I make sour dough bread. It catches dough about every third rotation and stretches it nicely, the next couple of rotations is like it is folding it. I do not get the crumb like doing manually, but it is good. It is a trade off. My arthritis has really been flaring in my hands, so this helps me make bread. It does well on cookies, cakes, whipped toppings!

On yeast dough, the level of hydration would be similar to the Ankarsrum. The price point is definitely right for someone looking for an inexpensive version of the Bosch, and it seems to work well with smaller sized batches. I'll have to wait until the next Black Friday before I add one to my collection. Thanks for the review!

Looks like a nice mixer. I bought a Kitchenaid lift mixer on sale and love it. It’s heavy which I like but it’s too tall to store away. The paddle scraper for it workers SO well. I would LOVE to have the Ankarsrum mixer but can’t afford it. I have issues with my hands so making bread and cakes with a stand mixer is a must. I just haven’t been as familiar with the Bosch or Nutrimill mixers. They do look like nice mixers.

The bowl scraper works great on the outside area of the bowl but the inside scraper is not long enough to scrape the entire area of the centre post. BTW you can attach the bowl scraper by just pushing it down onto the hub while it is attached to the centre post....you don''t have to remove the hub first. The scraper should not be used in a dry or empty bowl...it can break which is what happened to me. I was told to wipe a little oil on the blades which removes the friction. Since you were able to use the bowl from the Universal Plus on the Artiste, I would say that the bowls are the same size and thus the performance of the 2 mixers should be exactly the same.

Thanks for all your videos, Amy & Eric. I'm only recently a subscriber but I have enjoyed watching them for some time now, even when I'm not actually shopping for anything. I really appreciate that you don't hesitate to mention a product's shortcomings. Here's where I'm at. I have an Electrolux DLX Assistent (basically the same as the Ankarsrum that you love, as you know). But I've mostly stopped using it as I make less bread now (usually just one batch of one or two loaves a week lately) and I have gotten in the habit of doing it by hand. I used to have a KA 4.5qt Artisan but gave it to a friend after taking up bread baking and getting my Electrolux. My girlfriend used to use the Kitchenaid for her various cakes & cookies, but never has seemed interested in learning to use the DLX. I recently decided to get us a new mixer, one that she would use. I ordered and received a KA Pro 600, but it has problems with bowl clearance. Even after attempting to get it adjusted with KA support on the phone helping me I was unable to get it to pass the dime test. I am returning that mixer. (I'm not getting rid of my DLX, but it is moving out of our small kitchen into a storage room and it will probably only get pulled out and used a couple times a year, which about matches how much I've used it in the last couple years) Now I'm going to replace the Pro 600, but I am trying to decide whether it's the best fit for us. Mixers I'm considering include: Another KA Pro 600, Bosch Compact, Nutrimill Artiste, and Bosch Universal Plus (Well, not really the BUP, but I like the idea of it). I think I've watched your reviews for all of these except the Kitchenaid, as well as reading/watching many other reviews. If you have time to answer, there are a few things I wasn't able to pick up from your reviews. How do these mixers do for small batches? Can you whip 1/2 cup of cream or 1 egg white? How do they compare for cake batters and creaming butter? Your reviews always seem to use softened butter. I realize this is best procedure, but we don't always think ahead and I know the KA will let you get away with using butter straight from the fridge. Will any of the others? Right now, the Kitchenaid is probably the top of the list because of the butter thing and the fact that my girlfriend wouldn't have to learn a new machine (I enjoy that sort of thing, she doesn't). But I really like the idea of some of the others, especially the Nutrimill Artiste and I'd like to know whether the Kitchenaid is actually the best for our purposes (cakes and other batters, cookies, whipping cream, etc, but not bread). What are your thoughts? Thanks!

Amy, I just purchased this mixer and it is driving me crazy! It's big and beautiful and I wanted one for soooo long, but all the little pieces you have to wash and keep up with are annoying. Thanks Penny. I think that's one of the differences between the KA and the Bosch, in that with the Bosch you know the dough needs to be a little sticky for it to not spin around. The KA doesn't really care. But then, you're risking the mixer if the dough is too stiff.

If you look at manual that came with Nutrimill, it states to knead on speed 3. However, I find that I toggle between speeds 3, 4 & 5 to knead dough; which is not a big deal. If I do leave it on speed 3, I just let it run for about 10 mind & dough kneads perfectly. Remember, it all depends on how many batches of dough you're making. When I make one batch that's when I have to toggle. Two or more batches not a problem. Just sharing how it works for me. Be well.

I now discovered that the Nutrimill definately have some advantages over the Bosch. I have a European Bosch, which means that the aluminium part of the dough hook is slightly different. So I have to use the dough divider whenever I knead dough, otherwise the dough will come up the center pole and down the holes on top, and it will make a mess like no other! The Nutrimill have solved that, I discovered. They have a thing, a stopper, on the shaft you connect from underneath the bowl, so dough can't come very far. And the dough hook is very different from the Bosch, and as I can see, that alone will also keep dough away from those holes on top, plus that you can knead small batches. I have to use the dough divider on my Bosch, but that is a different knead than without. If I want a gentle knead, I can't use the dough divider, and then I'm left with a mess of dough inside the shaft and almost down to the motor. After having tried both with and without the dough divider, I prefer kneading without it, which is not possible, so I am looking for a bowl with a bottom mounted dough hook. I love the Bosch, but at the same time hate the job their designers have done with the dough hook and the whole shebang. If the Nutrimill were available in Europe, I would have prefered it over the Bosch, for sure. The downside is that you can't use the blender and food processor attachment, which is not a big deal for most people. If the had exported the Nutrimill to Europe, they would have sold like hotcakes. But they don't like money at Nutrimill, apparently. But I have high hopes for the old Bosch bowl with the bottom mounted dough hook and it is also dishwasher safe. Their new dough hook is not dishwasher safe, and that alone should be enough to fire the crappy Bosch designers. The world stopped using aluminium kitchen stuff in the 1950's, Bosch should be reminded. Ankarsrum have some really bad design too. It is not at all perfect, if anyone should believe so. Kenwood is perfect, but not strong enough for bigger batches of bread making. Nutrimill seems like a very good option for bread makers.

Thank you for watching. We appreciate it. The Bosch Universal Plus does the same. That's why it takes around 10 minutes to knead dough that only takes 5 minutes in a KitchenAid. But then, Bosch mixers seem to last longer than KA mixers when kneading dough on a regular basis.
@Stitchinpick4 жыл бұрын
Actually, try the dye test. Drop a couple drops of dye on your dough with the bosch and the kitchen aid. Kitchen aid stirs it in in a circle. Bosch twist and turns the dough. If your dough is spinning and not doing anything, it a recipe/user error! Bosch kneads longer and skips extra rising because the gluten works up so good. I am a 40 year bosch user (no affiliation.)

Well, that's the problem with most of these non-planetary mixers. The instruction manual doesn't tell you how to actually use it. Your spinning bread dough is a very good example of what the dough divider can do, it can stop it from spinning. But, I'm quite sure it will not fit together with that Nutrimill bread hook, the extender will crash in the dough divider and break. But if you try the Bosch dough hook together with the dough divider, I think you will get a good result. But your batch is quite small, so it might be even worse. But for larger batches, it will certainly stop it from spinning. If you have the dough divider, try and see what happens. If you don't have it and don't know what it is, the dough divider is a plastic thing that you tread on the center pole. It has two wings, one on each side, and the dough divider does not spin. So the dough will crash in those wings, which stops it from spinning freely. I can see the Nutrimill dough hook does a better job on small batches than the Bosch dough hook, even if it spins. It is at least some movement instead of the dough just clinging to the center pole and stay there without moving.

I forgot to add that you are THE best ever reviewer of kitchen appliances and mixers in particular! @@gramgramsgrandkids741 It is this thing: www.boschmixers.com/product/dough-divider/ But, I have seen that the American and the European Bosch dough hooks are not completely the same, so the dough divider does not fit the American version of the dough hook. And it will not fit the Nutrimill Artiste either. The aluminum part of the European Bosch dough hook is shorter, while the American is longer. I guess the shorter aluminium part is short so that it doesn't crash in the wings.

Modern day KitchenAid mixers have a lot of issues and many of them won't last 30 years. Many believe that KA isn't the best in the business anymore. If you want a KitchenAid to last 30 years, you would have to buy a pre-Whirlpool KA mixer or one that was made when Hobart owned them. Modern day Bosch mixers as well as Ankarsrum and Kenwood have a higher probability of lasting for years and years over KA.
@donnalynn25 жыл бұрын
@@AmyLearnsToCook Not sure where you get your information but Whirlpool does not manufacturer KitchenAid mixers. They are still made as they were pre-Whirlpool buyout. In fact Whirlpool has a seperate division for the Kitchen Aid small appliance division. I grew up in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the town where the Whirlpool headquarters is located. I used to work there many moons ago and still have many friends who work in different divisions of the Whirlpool corporation including Kitchen Aid. I have a Commercial 8 KitchenAid mixer in Candy Apple Red sitting right in front of me that was $550. I was only used 4 times and it doesn't work. You turn it on and it does 1 rotation and then turns off. I don't need any more data then the piles of e-mails that I have from people whose KA mixers don't work. I've been to the factory twice. Today's KA is not the same as a pre-Whirlpool KA. Doesn't matter if they are still made in the same factory. The corporate office sets policy on the quality of parts that are used. KA mixers are assembled in that factory...the parts are made all over the place. Kenwood has been making mixers since the 40s in Europe and Ankarsrum since 1937. I am glad that you like your KA...as I like my KA too. I have 7 KA mixers. But...they are not the same as they once were. My older ones are way better than my new ones and I have no expectation that my new ones will run for 30 years.

@@AmyLearnsToCook : I guess that means the best choice I made, was when I bought my Berkel 10 quart machine back in '03. I just purchased an Ankarsrum. My KitchenAid Commercial 8 that I bought a couple years ago is still going. But, I don't put a heavy load on it. Parts are cheap, and it's easy to fix. My father's Pro 5 Plus was made in 2006, and it is as strong as an ox. My mother has a worn out KSM5 that I gave her about 10 years ago. It barely runs, and it's a Hobart design. It looks nice, though. These days, I would aim for a Globe SP8 or SP10. Maybe a Hobart N50 for lighter duty. I'm sorry, but I guess I just don't trust the Bosch and its plastic bowls. None of them are NSF rated. The KitchenAid Commercial 8 is.

Not that it should automatically lessen the value of a given product, but the Kenwood mixer is made in China. @@AmyLearnsToCook

@AmyLearnsToCook5 жыл бұрын
+Julie Jansch It looks similar but it isn't. I would stick to either the Nutrimill Artiste or the Bosch Universal Plus. Thanks for watching!

How does this mixer perform when making small batches? I found that the KA 6 qt was not able to whip butter while making icing for a single cake.
@millieh.-nyc65373 жыл бұрын
This machine is excellent at whipping. Just place the shield so you don't have whipping cream all over the place. Be well.

Either Nutrimill or Bosch are the same ,just only change brand right?
@AmyLearnsToCook4 жыл бұрын
Out of the NutriMill and the Bosch, I would get a Bosch. The NutriMill is a fine mixer but the Bosch is better. The NutriMill is similar to the Bosch and is good if you are on a tight budget. If you are willing to spend more, I would say the Bosch overall is better quality.
@cricutcrazed3 жыл бұрын
The Nutrimill is based on the Bosch Concept of a decade ago. I’ve had my Concept since early 2000s but it’s plastic. I wanted the “Solitaire” model which is stainless steel. FINALLY found one on EBay and snapped it up about 3 mos ago. Then saw the Nutrimill and bought it. It’s a great machine. I’d rather scrape the center column than have to raise the KA head or bowl lift any day. All mixers need to be scraped somewhat. The Artiste and the Concepts are so lightweight. Other mixers are heavy and unruly. Even if you keep it on the counter, it usually needs to be scooted out. And the Artiste base can fit in a drawer if you have a drawer that size.
