I'd been 'borderline' in need of thyroid medication for a couple of decades. About three or four years ago, my doctor finally convinced me to start on medication, which I took for about two years. Then I started carnivore, and I started taking iodine supplements; I haven't taken the thyroid medication for almost two years. At my last annual checkup in September 2024, my bloodwork, including thyroid, was all excellent -- my thyroid is doing well, even without taking the medication. I don't know if it's because of the iodine supplement, or the carnivore diet, or both, but it's good!

This is brilliant. My focus for 2025 is to reverse my Hashimotos and hypothyroidism. Talks like this bring hope and insight as my TSH went down to 0.06 taking some iodine and I was feeling better. Usually my TSH is high. I'm no longer afraid to take iodene.

My wife was using lugols 2% just topically on skin for Cystic acne and she has adrenal insufficiency and had bromide poisoning that really messed her up! She had to salt load and speak to someone about adding in cofactors and companion nutrients ! She since having double vision , severe insomnia, headaches and other symptoms from bromide poisoning has not returned to using iodine but she does suffer from cold hands and feet , brain fog and insomnia still! 😭 I think she needs an iodine literate practitioner who can walk her through her specific issues and get her salt up from her adrenal insufficiency before starting the iodine protocol again !

Hello Dr. Judy i discovered J. Crow's Lugol's Solution from Dr. Ken Berry. I bought the 5% solution took 10 drops in morning before breakfast than had my carnivore breakfast with my Redmonds salt. Then found out the Salt/Iodine flush from Dr. Elizabeth Bright so for 2 weeks im doing 3 drops J. Crow's solution in 1 ounce of water with half teaspoon of Redmonds salt then I'll go back to 10 drops. My TSH levels have been elevated for years and i have thyroid nodules. Of course my former and current primary care doctor never told told me i was completely deficient they just wanted me on thyroid drugs.@@NutritionwithJudy

Thanks for this video. I had a nasty respiratory virus in January which left me with low TSH for months although my hyperthyroid symptoms only lasted about a week. TSH was almost back to normal by the end of February, but I was told by someone to stop taking iodine, and even though that didn't make sense to me, because I'd been listening to what Dr. Berry & Dr. Brownstein say about iodine, I stopped. Three months later my TSH was way down again and my T4/T3 were abnormal too, so I was referred to an endocrinologist. I still felt fine. I restarted the iodine and stopped listening to this person. Last week I saw the endocrinologist who said my numbers were back to normal and nothing further to do but get blood tests once a year. I truly believe if I'd kept up the iodine, my May numbers would have been back to normal. Still have lingering wheezing occasionally (I had to go on an inhaler for a few months to sort out breathing) but I'm hoping that'll clear up when I do BBBE after Christmas. Dropping dairy could certainly help that!

Hello Judy! So far iodine is the only supplement I’ve started and i think it might be helping. I quit sugar Thanksgiving day but broke down and got a 90% Lindt chocolate bar and I’ve had a few Rebel ice creams. I’m still doing better overall though and hope to order the rest of my supplements soon.

Request for help: Two months ago I started taking 2% Lugol's iodine, about one or two drops per day. Since then I've had symptoms of hypothyroid (cold hands and feet, dry skin, itchy skin, sensitivity to cold). I've never had any thyroid issues before in my life. So taking Iodine triggered thyroid issues that I never had before. I also had other side effects like insomnia, diarrhea, and body odor (which may be related to bromine detox). What should I do? Should I keep taking Iodine? Note: I have a very clean diet, I've been a strict ketovore (almost carnivore) for the past 9 months. If I keep taking Iodine, I'm worried I will make my hypothyroid symptoms worse.

Can too much iodine cause toxicity to the liver? I have seen some studies on amiodarone induced hepatoxicity (amiodarone has significant levels of iodine) and they seem to say it’s the iodine. Can it be the other ingredients in amiodarone? Or can too much iodine be the cause of the toxicity to the liver?

Hi Judy! Why does lugols iodine make my hair fall? I was taking it everyday 2% 2 or 3 drops. I also do ketovore for almost a year. I know it's definitely the iodine bc when I stop it.. about a week later my hair stops falling. I've tried this little experiment a few times to test it out in past year.. Have you ever heard of this? My tsh was 4.5 last checked a couple months ago. No one can really answer my question so I thought I'd ask you. 🙏

your T4 should be converting to T3. You may need to work on your gut health & get a particular thyroid med to help with it at 1st.
@Lizz771115 сағат бұрын
Thanks very good summary- just have two questions: 1) should we keep sole water in the fridge? 2) addressing those on thyroid meds. I was on armour and had started carnivore in August this year. Began iodine drops and got up to 10 drops then had a hyperthyroid episode with anxiety, diarrhea, heart palps and high blood pressure. I figured it out and stopped the meds and then started iodine again at only 4 drops, now back up to 10. Will get labs soon but I really think I don’t need thyroid meds anymore .

Great information. I take 3% Lugol's diluted down to 1.5% with water. Only taking about 6 drops in coffee per day. I will be using your drop calculator for sure. I'm definitely on the low side as I was scared off with toxicity worries. Thanks again for your work
@my-yt-inputs258011 сағат бұрын
Hmmmmm....I remember seeing the 2% Lugols is basically 1 drop = 1 mg. Is that incorrect? Your calculator seems to show 1 drop = .5 mg.
@my-yt-inputs25806 сағат бұрын
This is what I see printed on a J. Crow's page......."Calculating Number of MG's of Iodine and Iodide per Drop of LUGOL'S 2%: Each VERTICAL "metric" drop (= 1/20 ml) is approximately 1.0 mg of iodine and 2.0 mg of potassium iodide. The Iodide portion of Potassium Iodide is about 75% so that is 1.5 mg. Therefore the total Iodine plus Iodide is 1.0 + 1.5 = 2.5 mg and 2 drops is about 5.0 mg's of iodine/iodide (2.0 mg iodine, 3.0 mg iodide)."

Really helpful video Judy! I've been on a Ketogenic diet for almost a year. Lost 100lbs and show no more signs of diabetes on my blood tests. However I used to drink heavily and eat lots of sugary sweet foods in the past and my poor liver lol. It deserves an award for tolerating my abuse. Lately been trying the full carnivore diet and struggling with low energy and cold feet and hands at times. Been trying to make sure I eat enough fat and also taking J.Crows Lugol's iodine solution 2%. I'm at 5 drops in redmonds salty water in the morning. I think I'm going through a bit of detox at times as my nose gets runny at times. So I'm going to keep at it and slowly increase it over time. Thanks for all the content you put out on good health... it means so much to those of us who have trouble finding this anywhere! Literally you are a lifesaver! :D
