I eat 15 almonds a day for snacking. And add avocado daily in my smoothie for my healthy fat. Everything else is plain Jane. .....lentil soup, falafel sandwich and fruits.

Nuts with an unfavorable omega 6 to omega 3 ratio can be a problem especially for those with cancer.

@@katiecushing1470 Its just antidotal from some sources so it (as far as I know) does not rise to the level of science. Given the reported data for walnut consumption and its benefits, it may be accurate antidotal evidence. Someone needs to do a thorough scientific study. Since I have cancer I am not taking chances so I'm sticking with walnuts.

I've been struggling to lose weight and cook more nutrient dense foods. I love cashews, pecans and salted almonds. I try to add refried beans, black beans, or if lentils to my salads. It's an uphill journey from fat to fit. My doctor recommended a plant based Vegan diet. Also, to help regulate hormone levels. Sometimes I try to eliminate processed foods and sugars. Ice cream, cake and chocolate chip cookies are my favorite snack.

Your best best is eliminating or at least limiting a great deal highly processed foods, as you say. As far as animal products go, the most problematic are full-fat dairy and red meat, although other meats are not good either. Fish in moderation has been shown to be healthful, but it's not necessary. No animal products are necessary, and in general animal products tend to be much higher in calories than plants, which is why it's easier to get to an optimal weight if you eliminate or limit animal products to a small amount. Nuts are one of the few plant sources of high calories due to their fat content, the others being avocado, olives, and seeds. And also oil (like extra virgin olive oil). As the video suggests, you have to be careful with quantity for those because they contain a lot of calorie per volume of food. All OTHER WHOLE (not refined) plant foods, be they whole grains, beans, fruits, or vegetables, have a much lower number of calories per volume of food, so basically you can eat as much of those other foods as you want and as long as you don't add any (or much) of the higher calorie items, you will not gain weight, and most likely will lose weight to the point you are at your optimal weight, although some people need to cut out the higher-calorie items entirely in order to get to that optimal weight.

Quarter cup of Walnuts or Pecans a day are the best. Ration that quarter cup for times throughout the day when you're eating foods with a lot of other phytonutrients/antioxidants (like in a salad or with some berries or fruit) to help absorb those phytochemicals!

Why do you pick only pecans and walnuts. I can see walnuts due to their higher levels of Omega 3 compared to other nuts, but why pecans?

1/4 cup nuts is healthy. As long as you don't over eat them. Nuts are a benefit. People who avoid nuts have dry old skin. You can put oil over your skin but real moisture and radiance comes from within, from what you eat. Whole food avacado and nuts will help your skin look smooth. Don't avoid nuts.

@@swatipatil2367 the amount of nuts you should eat daily is cosidered to be a small handful, what fits in the palm of your hand, like 2 ounces at most. Not sure the grams amout. The belst w as y to eat them is to sprinkle them over your food or salad. The reason would be because if you put them on food you won't be dipping your hand in and out of bag. People have a tendency to get carried away eating nuts, so sprinkle them on your food and put the bag away before you eat more than a handful.

One soak s 7 almond s 2 walnuts pieces 10 pistas in fresh water after washing them nice ly . Eat with breakfast or lunch . Soaking great ly enhances value d nutrition . Similarly , soak dates and dry figs separately for 4 hours , eat with lunch , good for digestion , haemoglobin . 30 black raisins soak at night also separately drink the water , eat the raisins . Best luck

Peanuts are quite a controversial nuts coz many people put them in legumes category due to their high protein content and other put them in oil seed category due to very high fat content. Whatever it is, you need to update your video with the high usefulness of Peanuts as nuts for healthy heart and cell membranes.

Chestnuts are a low fat nut, and not as high in calories . They are about half carbs, half protein. Unfortunately, they were largely wiped out in the US. But you can still import them.

There's some biased in their opinion about certain nuts, nothings wrong with eating cashew nuts nor peanuts on daily basis...did they know that peanuts are high coq10, niacin and magnesium which were essential to heart health, cashew nuts are the highest among nuts in magnesium per 100g, all nuts are all high in saturated fats but like doctors always says anything excessive is bad for the health...i prefer peanuts and cashew nuts because they're less expensive as compared to other nuts..

I could not survive (I have been + still are thin) without nuts + this year I had plenty of walnuts from my trees. You can make wonderful dishes with nuts, like vegan cheese + healthy chocolate with a bit of stevia powder, a little coconut oil + a few dates or raisins. Or just put some on top of a salad.

Hey doc, I lost weight eating nuts and cured my chronic inflammation. Doctors couldn't help me. I do not eat small doses. I'll stick with what's been helping me, which hasn't been medical professionals in over a decade.

Dr. Greger gathers some interesting research, but doesn't create the research. Much research is created by the industries that produce the item researched, so beware, and do your own fact checking. There are other whole foods that can give you all the phytonutrients of nuts without all the fat.

I personally eat lots of almonds and peanut butter everyday and haven't gained weight from it. I also do heavy squats and deadlifts which may be the answer....

Stepping Ahead the reason those 2 on the left said no cashews or peanuts is because they advocate a raw vegan diet. Cashews and peanuts have to be cooked to be consumed. Even cashews labelled 'raw' cashews are steamed I think

Nut milks have very few nuts per serving. The best thing about nut milks is that they give you an alternative to dairy milk.

I like raw nuts in general, but I don't digest them (even soaked). As a matter of interest, the longest lived people, the Japanese, have never had nuts as a part of their diet, apart from chestnuts.

I'm guessing you are talking about the Okinawans, one of the Blue Zones, who, you are correct, do not eat nuts. However, another Blue Zone, Loma Linda, CA, nuts ARE a part of their diet. In other words, nuts can be a healthy part of your diet, but you also don't require nuts to live a healthy life. Crazy, huh? :)

No one is "worrying" about studies, but studies CAN actually inform us about what dietary patterns are helpful, neutral, or harmful, and certain food groups that are. Everyone is already getting "real life experience" - it's called living, lol! Most of us do our own one-person studies by trying new diets from time to time, and that helps us inform which foods work well for us, what diets are sustainable, etc. Not sure what you're so worked up about!

This information is dated, fat deed does not make you fat. Carbs and sugars do. Calories don’t matter food is information. A thousand calories of vegetables is not the same as 1000 cal of carbohydrates.

I'm sorry but all nuts have good nutritional value . I don't understand the dissing of cashews . They contain anti oxidents and magnesium and they have kept me regular with the fiber content . I 've been eating them every week for several months and just started eating walnuts , pecans and hazelnuts , too . Don't like almonds and peanuts

Johannes Anttila I still think eating nutts csn help with weight loss provided u drop something else out and replace with nutts . Im alot more satisfied 4 longer after a handful of nutts then a bag of chips . If that lady dropped something else out instead of nutts shed have lost weight just as well. i just think nutts r so good 4 you 😍

Danya Christine Smith Well if you replace potato chips with like almost anything you will have easier time losing weight. What these people are saying is that adding nuts and therefore eating less more high carb lower caloric density plant foods will probably lead to less weightloss and even weight gain in some individuals. Foods are not good or bad but better and worse. Nuts are better than potato chips. Oatmeal is probably better in terms of feeling satiated than nuts. Green peas is probably better than the oatmeal and kale is probably better than the green peas.

Nuts do have fats, just not the bad kinds. Almond milk, coconut milk is a great milk if homemade. HIGH calories, you are lucky with your metabolism or you have not really tested it. Btw. Fit or fat. Slim is not necessary healthy. That's another topic

The only things that I've heard about peanuts that were negative, and someone mentioned one in the video, was the high amount of saturated fat and also they are difficult to digest causing stomach issues with some people. I still eat peanut butter though, just not as much as I used to. I do notice that I get a brief stomach ache after eating a spoonful. It doesn't last long though and I like the taste so I'll continue to eat it.

Ryz AM bad. They are not real nuts, they are legumes and rich in omega 6 which is pro-inflammatory. Nuts such as walnuts are far far better. Best to have them raw too

Well this was helpful. I keep hearing I need to not eat nuts to loose weight but I don't like nuts. I just like a few in my morning oatmeal or on a salad. I can't stand to just eat a nut. Yuck. So I guess I'm fine.

Nuts decrease iron absorption. Have high levels of omega-6 fat and are high in phytic acid ....if you know anything about nutrition, you would knew this and tell it to people. Eat grass fed animal flesh and organs. if you like vegetables and fruits, eat seeded ones. thats it.

I have tried all types of nuts and they stop me getting erections. I no longer take nuts. Nuts have L arginine yet that doesn't work. I think the fat prohibits my erections. Nuts are not for me I guess.

they forget that there really is no such thing as "raw" nuts. most nuts will hurt you or kill you eaten raw. they're heat treated in some way, roasted, etc. google it. you'll see what i mean

It’s really hard to stay lean when your diet is based off fattening carbohydrates. Funny I can eat all the calories my body wants with meat and fat and never gain a lbs. I guess I must be the anomalous observation

Sure need to study nutrtion calories are not fattening insulin is fattening we do not produce insulin to controll fat. Many people that have a wieght problem are eating to few healthy calories such as good fats. A diet that contains twice the calories from fats and unrefined oil as from carbs has been proven to burn body fat

@@machyne82 carbohydrates when stored as fat have to use 25% of the carbohydrates calories just to store it as fat…therefore fat is more fattening than carbs, not to mention the fact that your muscles soak up carbohydrates into your glycogen storages. So youre wrong have a nice night, hopefully you learned something.
