Hear me out: Price 5090 pc: $5000 Monitor: $1000 Average hours played: 2 hours per day Life spawn rig: 5-7 years Price per hours played $6000 / (2h x 365 x 5) = between $1.64 and $1.17 per hour that you play. Yes, sadly that would be the case. The 5060 will be completely DEAD ON ARRIVAL! Preliminary data shows that the core specs and raster throughput is around 4-5% faster than the 4060. The memory chips will be a lot faster, but the tiny 8 GB framebuffer and strained bus width will cause problems. If Nvidia has the audacity to raise the prices to $500, they will shoot themselves in the leg, pretty badly I might say.

Cable design seems like a good improvement, I actually had my original 4090 cable bending against my mid cases side eventually causing it to fail and I had to be replaced for a bendy cable, took me a while to figure it out and caused many random crashes and gray hairs before I got to the bottom of the issue

Honestly, after the takedown of Intel CPUs, the GPU scene can be turned upside down all just by how AMD chooses to release their GPUs. In fact, they should have done this couple years ago, and heed consumers' wants of VRAM. However, now is the best time to upstage Ngreedia's prices and start dominating the lower market. People have no need for 4090 level of GPU. 'Want'? Yes. 'Need'? No, and definitely not to the point of selling a bloody kidney. A part of me hoped the leaks were not true with 12gb VRAM on the 5070. But with the TI variant now confirmed to be 16GB all hope is lost. Looks like I'll be buying a last gen card on the used market. I bet the older card I get with 16GB VRAM will not only cost less but be better for some games, good enough for others and have more longevity. (I play at 4k upscaled, on sofa. Platformers and stuff 60fps is more than enough)

I was hoping they would as a baseline have 16gb on any card that costs over £300. Considering games are designed around consoles with 12-16gb, need a little extra for PC ports usually, so 12GB even now is often not enough to load in all the textures and stuff at 4k. 16GB really should be the minimum. I think we will see this with people not buying the lower VRAM cards.

That how I feel that it going to be even worst in 2 years when the 60 series comes out , at least if I spend 7k for my high end build around the 5090 and 9800x3d it will last me 8 -10 years lol

That's what I'm doing. This is the actual big brain take. People with 1060s might wanna decide what they're gonna do because this could be "the last chopper out of Vietnam." Even if you just get a 30 or 40 series second hand, at least you're future proofed for a little while.
