Not that hes wrong about bike lanes. .. but this youtube channel is a case study on a typical crazy person from New York. Not meaning all new Yorkers are crazy, but among the crazy group, he is a typical one. I cant explain how its crazy. Maybe he does well in his personal life. But this behavior is unhealthy and isnt a form of happiness. If it is effective l, it is only effective temporarily. Like a bandaid. A more effective solution would be to ride your bike with equanimity and joy. The traffic dynamics are what they are. Or move to a less populated major city.

I used to bike in Texas back when running over long-haired cyclists was considered a sport. But even so I don't agree with having bike lanes that require reducing the lanes of car traffic. A few maybe, but to very many. I certainly don't agree with the Agenda 21 objective of forcing people out of their cars and onto bicycles.

But take a look of how many people there are on the sidewalk. There is no room (for pleasent walking) so they come to bike lane. And at the same time there are some 20 cars stuck in the traffic with maybe 25 people inside, and on the side walk and bike lane the number of people flowing is ten times as much. @@hulabalooize in brooklyn, NYC, along the eastern parkway, there are 2 rather large/wide, parallel walkways alongside the main boulevard. Both are used for pedestrians and cyclists and even have markers dictating which side is for whom. Pedestrians still absentmindedly waltz into opposing cyclist traffic. Even with space to walk freely, the pedestrians here wander wherever their feet fall. Also, equality is not about giving everyone a fair slice, its giving everyone a fair amount considering what they need. Cars travel faster, need more space. People walk slow, need less space. Bikes are in between. Put them in between

People who bike in to work/bike for work here would most likely agree. Peds can annoyingly get in the way of your commute but this guy is overly aggressive in his yelling and honking. Unless you're a food delivery biker, AVOID 8th & 9th avenues. The sidewalks can't handle the foot traffic so there's going to be spillover. There are ways to make your commute much more stress free but many cyclists like the drama and self righteous position of telling people off. It's so weird, and these are the types that give the rest of us a bad name.

@@pkal244 Dude, I can't agree more. I worked as a Food Delivery (in Cafe) for 2 Years [Now just in the Cafe]. 8th and 9th Avenue are the *worst* places you can choose as your way. Total Chaos.

Yeah, cyclists will likely always be disrespected in an overcrowded urban environment like that. These kinds of roadway-parallel bike lanes are an open invitation for pedestrians etc. Motorists will always have the bigger stick. Raging about it like this guy just gives inconsiderate or ignorant folks the moral high ground and keeps you stressed out. Best thing is to stay calm, reduce expectations and use the brakes a lot.

As a Dutch person who bikes every day from and to school, this is just stress and anxiety-inducing to watch. Guess I should be glad that here it isn't as chaotic as in New York. With the fast pace of NYC, nobody has time for manners. I agree, you have a very brief amount of time to interact with pedestrians, so if you choose to speak, try doing so with kindness, otherwise you're just a jerk on a bike giving other cyclists a bad name.
