September 29th, 2023, will be etched in New York City's history as the day the skies opened with an unparalleled ferocity. The deluge was so intense that JFK Airport recorded its highest 24-hour rainfall since 1948, with an astonishing 8 inches pouring down.
Brooklyn faced nature's fury head-on, as three hours of ceaseless rain equaled an entire month's average downpour. Witness water roaring into basements, stranded vehicles, and impassable roads that brought the Big Apple to a standstill.
This video dives deep into the heart of the devastation, spotlighting the worst affected regions like Brooklyn and Long Island. From shattered rainfall records to streets that became rivers, experience the magnitude of NYC's epic flood crisis. For more unforgettable insights and updates from this storm's aftermath, subscribe now.

I live in Brooklyn, in the area you filmed. I cried watching this video. We are one floor up but my downstairs neighbors flooded and we helped them. I went to Prospect Park yesterday after 8 straight days of rain. It was sunny and everyone was happy but everyone was talking about the rain and how scary it was. Seeing this helps me realize how dangerous it was. I’m so thankful that I’m OK and that I didn’t choose a garden apartment.

This is a powerful piece of storytelling - especially given the speed with which you brought it to KZbin. You tell a compelling story and stay out of the way of the camera. This is clearly about the people featured and not so much about you and your reactions. THe scenes of strangers coming together to solve problems in real time with real consequences is good medicine for so many feelings of division and conflict in the majority of media and mindset these days. How they bent their backs and pushed with mighty force to calmly escort the stalled cars to shallower waters was inspiring. Also, your conversation with the woman reaching into the muck with her bare hands to clear the drains and your conversation and suggestion that she take a shower soon was telling. It might be gross to go further into it but I think necessary for people to understand how much waste, sewage and other dangerous things are swirling about at their ankles in these situations. Blessings on you and all New Yorkers.

Exactly! It goes beyond that, too... it's important to pick up garbage anytime you see it. When the floods come, it all gets washed into the drains and clogs them up. Pick it up before it causes a problem.

People should be warned that driving through deep flood water can short out the car's entire electrical system. It's very dangerous at night because you can't tell how deep it is. You won't be able to unlock the doors or roll down any windows and you get trapped. If the car drifts into deeper waters, you will drown. If you ever find yourself in this situation, break the glass of the door with a blunt object - or remove the headrest from your seat. Most importantly, aim at the corners of the glass. Stay safe out there.

Hey man, not only was that great reporting, but you obviously care doing so much to help all those people. Thanks to you and all those guys hanging out pushing out car after car after car, I live in Florida there are many rules. We follow when it comes to deep water Slow and steady never stop and if you’re not sure the depth or you see ripples, don’t risk it.

NY counsel NEEDS TO IMPLEMENT A LAW PREVENTING PEOPLE FROM THROWING OUT GARBAGE. They are as guilty as officials that dont clean the drainage.

I live in Rockaway. I Survived Hurricane Sandy and I never thought I'd see anything like this again in my lifetime. The folks in basement apartments have lost everything they owned. I know what that's like. I really feel for them. And of course, our idiot Mayor kept schools open....

So nice to see, first they waved and warned the drivers, deep water, do not drive, stop!!!! It didn't work and then the owner of that car sits comfortably steering while 4 guys pushing the same stupid, helping him out.

I love that you are helping people and not just recording . My prayer goes to people living in basement. Believe me you will remember it for the rest of your life and I hope in a good day and there is nothing you can do let nature do its job and enjoy it.

Considering the short turnaround time, this video was very well done. Takes away the sensationalism of the 30-second newsfeeds & really helps one experience it like the ppl who are actually going thru it. Bravo 17:53 to you guys as maybe ppl will see this & be less inclined to take chances out on the road. Shoutout to the "Long Island Neighborhood Push Crew " who represents the true definition of community. Sadly this era has been lost to the swarm of knee-jerk phone videographers on a quest to go viral. Kudos to everyone involved in this film!

One of the bright spots in a very dark situation like this is in some people the good comes out, and we start helping one another! My family survived hurricane Michael, but we lost everything, but it was worth it all to make friends with neighbors that I hadn’t talked to before because we all had to help each other ! After five years, we still have a yearly Michael’s barbecue to keep in touch with each other! To remind us that people are more important than things!
