@@eliclown0808 It's definitely improving, however I think it's important to be selective about the brands that we support. If you cary darker shades but refuse to employ black people I don't see that as much of an improvement. Beauty Bakerie is a brand I know of that seem to genuinely care about people and have an extensive range that BEGINS with the darkest shade. Quite cool

Well, yes, they are not charity. In a majority white country, the shades will be light. Simple economics. In Africa and India, the shades are almost exclusively dark. So, no, you are right, they didn't struggle, they just conduct their businesses in a profitable way, as could be expected, by any sane, at least moderately intelligent person.

@@Wandering.Homebody ironic you'd make this whole ridiculous ass comment, and then try to comment on intelligence. 🤦 I know how business works, so I'm not sure what big thing you think you just did there. No black lipstick for me. My skin prefers brights colors. But if you can wear it, go for it. I did have a phase where I wish I could find blue lipstick, but now I am like, nah, I take a pass. I am ready to find a Crayola orange lipstick, though. When I sport purple for the first time, going to think of my lovely late extra mom. Purple was her favorite color. It is my only child's as well, my baby boy ( he is early adult ), and his girlfriend's.

I too had to turn to the internet to find beautiful women who could teach me more about makeup for dark skin. My schooling was rather lacking, unfortunately. When I was a new MUA I went on a job (my second one) that had one very dark skinned model and the ONLY reasons I didn't mess up her makeup were: 1. She was so beautiful it was hard to make her look bad, and 2. Some kind of magic was working in my favor that day because I sure as heck didn't make it through on skill, lol! The first thing I did when I got home that day was look up makeup tutorials for dark skin.

I remember my college days years ago and I used lipstick and face paints to alter my cream foundation into my shade. I am really glad that people nowadays have the access to more shade range, esp us in Asia region. My perfect match is Maybeline 312 golden, and back then when drugstore and Mac is super difficult to trace, we only had 3 colors from local brands. Light, Natural, Tan, and all of them were basically pale beige. Aunties in family events were looking like bootleg geisha wannabe because of their white face and super pink eyeshadow lmao.

Honestly, I think its sad that people have to resort to using BLACK LIPSTICK instead of normal contour or even foundation (I'm not black though so I wouldnt know what its like) but I am pretty disappointed in a lot of make up companies for having their "darkest" skintone foundation barely match half of the black people who use it. I hope companies are more inclusive soon.

@@Autumnpearly black don’t crack because we care for ourselves and understand moisture needs and eczema needs etc. meanwhile we go through the most facial issues and y’all complain about being “red” like that’s not how you’ve been all your life. Our face changes through winters and summers without fake tans. Through skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis and rosacea etc. It “doesn’t crack” because generation after generation takes care of their skin. You’ll find plenty of black peoples with extremely aged skin and bodies looking like they’re damn near 45 in their late 20’s early 30s simply because they didn’t take care of themselves. 🖤 it’s not just being black, it’s being raised in a black household with values and at the least skin care common sense.

You're Beautiful, Confident, Creative... BEAUTIFUL MELANIN. That's why WE ALL Must Support ONLY Black Companies who Make products for Us. Those Years & Years of Insult comes with a price. Like NOT. So, Creative Black Entrepreneurs... it's YOUR Day. Anyway... those other companies didn't struggle making products to compliment Our Beauty. We struggled. You did. So... BUY Black, Babe! Smiles! You're GORGEOUS, Sis! Thx, for sharing! 🎉
