Fox because it’s horrible how brands think one “dark” shade of a bronzer will work for all dark skin tones. Yes as a lighter skin there’s many choices, but that doesn’t sit right with me. It’s unfair and these brands think it’s ok. The fact that she has to use a small eyeshadow pan.... I definitely have seen people as well as me acknowledge the lack of shades in not only bronzer but many other products due to Nyma’s content. So yeah that’s why I’m hurt. Still see no change but Nyma having to make a video/s about it is already a move.

Fox because she is seeing her struggles. Why are you hurt, fucking weirdo?
@kokoxiao43325 жыл бұрын
oh hi because seeing her struggles means that a lot of dark skinned people are struggling with the same problem and there is nothing weird with that, light skinned people are lucky because they all have a lot of choices but as a dark skinned person,we do not get that and it hurts when brands make products that are for “dark skin” when they aren’t even dark enough.Take milk chocolate as an example,it was made for dark skinned but it’s not even dark at all. You are probably not going to understand so I’m just wasting my time and there is nothing weird for feeling hurt lol

@tasniaislam39515 жыл бұрын
Emma Lantz they look sand colored in her video because of all the lighting. Also she’s super dark so in contrast the colors will look ashy. If i were to swatch them they’ll have pigment and some darkness to them because against my skin it’ll be darker. They’re not all white. Just too white washed for her. Inclusivity should be every brands priority but i guess not everyone cares.
@Emi-pd8cu5 жыл бұрын
Tasnia Islam exactly, I’m an artist and if you put one color on two different other colors they for sure will look different even though they are the same. These colours would be ‘deep’ for lighter-tan skins tones but definitely not for people with actual deep skin tones.

@giselle_kvm5 жыл бұрын
@Sylvie Kb that's literally what she said in the video, if you even paid attention. "It's so easy to complain and not do anything", that's just rude and disgusting. If makeup brands should make products for all skin tones. Why is it that we have 25 shades of beige-pale-ivory and maybe 6 shades of chestnut-chocolate? That's excluding individuals that have deeper, darker tones and itself alienating af. To think that by producing dark shades, they'll lose money is ridiculous. If anything those companies should be putting in the effort to diversify their makeup collections that can be marketed to an even larger crowd or people with all different skin tones and thus, they'd be making even more of a profit than before. Fenty Beauty did just that and look at how fucking great it did in a short span of time.

No it isn't "hunty". It's an optical illusion, I'm sure you've seen the one where there is a checker board and there are two Gray squares which are the same colour but look vastly different based on what the surrounding colours are. If I tried those bronzers it would look like I'm doing something extremely offensive or being a "Manchester girl" meme. The reason for lack of inclusivity is statistics and business. There are way more white people buying makeup than there are darker people. And the darker you get the less and less common it gets. It sucks but instead of complaining, Nyma should just make her own line and she would make big bucks from it.
@yeeyee8825 жыл бұрын
*Thats white chocolate hunty*
@spoony49385 жыл бұрын
icymeow Wow I haven’t thought about that. Rather than pressing for change in the beauty world regarding “equal” skin tones, people of deep skin color should just “make their own line”. Cause that’s simple, easy, fun and tangible for people who have just happen to have deep skin color. Finding your shade shouldn’t be that hard. In order to keep up with supply and demand they could just make less of the skin shades that aren’t as common rather than denying their existence all together.
@icymeow34175 жыл бұрын
@@spoony4938 - Please avoid talking about things you have no clue about. It's not cost effective to have all the equipment running to produce smaller amounts of an unusual shade that doesn't sell a lot. Even Rhianna as a POC didn't make a bronzer dark enough for Nyma so stop making it a racism issue. The "issue" is that companies do whatever makes them the most money, so producing shades that are very common in make-up wearing countries is going to make them the most money. And yes, why wouldn't you make your own brand? Nyma has the capabilities of making a successful brand that caters to the very deep shades such as her own skin tone - especially with her channel which is basically free marketing - complaining isn't going to solve the problem. It's a niche and if someone was smart enough to invest in it, it could make them big money as they would get support from that specific community. But no, it's much easier to sit on your ass and type comments / make videos about how hard it is to be you. OH no! I can't wear bronzer! My life is over! I can't just use contour to get definition on my face and just be light handed!
@spoony49385 жыл бұрын
icymeow Not cost effective? It’s not as if their creating new technology, machinery, or factories - they’re just adding some darker pigments. You’re point on it being financially irresponsible is also beyond foolish. Not only is a viable solution available (addition of greater variety in correlation with quantity based on market demand) but the market for very dark skin shades exists. Additionally, just because something makes financial sense doesn’t mean it’s socially viable. Denying the existence of an entire skin shade regardless of its implications on corporate budget isn’t and will never be okay. Rihanna, whilst a being a women who’s made great strides for POC, shouldn’t be a benchmark we limit ourselves by. To YOU it may seem as if a video like this is just “whining” but in reality it’s an exemplification of how colorist the beauty world is. Without videos like hers the equal color movement wouldn’t have taken off the way it did. It’s much easier to enact change with a solid base in terms of social protest, rather than silently shove millions into a market who’s opinions haven’t been voiced “Please avoid talking about things you have no clue about” - Dumb Bitch

Because bronzer is designed to make you look more tan. She clearly doesn’t need a tan. Bronzer is not designed or shaded for contouring (it’s often too warm and too light-so that people who use it correctly won’t look like a Cheeto), and this is why she’s struggling in her search.
@glynfrans5 жыл бұрын
@@thegreenmachine90 bronzer is not only supposed to make you look tan; it should bring warmth to your face
@mars93995 жыл бұрын
glyn if she wants warmth she can use blusher. The bronzer is designed to be used on the parts of the face where the sun naturally hits and tans the face. So it indeed does bring some ‘color’ and ‘warmth’ as if the wearer went to the beach for their holiday. But it also mimics a tan. According to the concept of the bronzer, people who don’t get any darker from the sun will not find a use for a typical bronzer in the market. If she really wanted to bring warmth into her face, she could get a powder, liquid or even cream blusher to do that. We can get creative with makeup. One product has many uses. Or...some company can repackage a blusher and call it a bronzer for darker skin tones!
@mamartinez25835 жыл бұрын

As a makeup artist I have learned when someone is of a very deep skin complexion we do the opposite of someone who is lighter. Instead of focusing on bronzing the face (which is hard because there really are no products) we highlight more and let the natural depth of the skin be it's own natural contour which will help create more shadow and dimension. Otherwise with bronzers and contours the skin can have a caste over it making the skin look dull (ashy). This is just something I've learned from working as an MUA and as an Esthetician, but girl I absolutely am in love with all of your videos. I can't get over how beautiful and rich your skin in like oh my goodness 😍😍 much love❤❤❤❤

People just want to wear it and anyone who wants to should have equal access to enjoy any type of makeup.

Nadia Smith right?! I’m always so grateful when WoC share their experiences like this. It takes bravery and a lot of strength to talk about disparities, even something as “simple” as makeup struggles. A lot of backlash happens when WoC speak up about their lived experiences.

Brands putting the name dark chocolate on a light as heck shade: this is representation right?

I have no room to say anything as I’m a light skin toned woman and makeup is made with my skin in mind I get so angry and heated when I talk about how non inclusive the beauty industry is - and it doesn’t even affect me! You speak so eloquently on this subject and are just so classy! I wish I was like that We are in 2019, brands need to step up

It's so sad to watch this and to imagine the struggle of someone with a deeper skin tone in a beauty industry. and to think it's something i take for granted, to have shades that match me in stores. I'm glad I watched this video and i hope things change for the better in the future, in all ways.

Phantomhive they are dropping lighter ones, she’s just referencing because this video clearly shows that these bronzers do not work.

@@PhantomhiveOW you're missing the point on purpose lmao, fair skin is already catered to so that was never a surprise to see.

Phantomhive speaking as a fair-skinned woman, we don’t need any more fair-skinned products - we’re WAY over-represented in the makeup industry.
