Yep! I never knew coconut could be combined with Chilli like that. I add peanut Chilli oil to amp up the heat but it is a beautiful dish regardless.

There are so many terrible videos claiming that their recipe is an authentic laksa with most of them using some kind of mass produced 'laksa paste' from the super-market. Most of which contain 621, 622, and 623 flavour enhancers. Your recipe looks fresh and vibrant and I am heading straight to the kitchen to make it for dinner. Hi Grace, Thank you so much for this recipe! I made it yesterday and it was delicious :) Two questions though: 1) I found I had to add some sugar to make the sweetness of the soup a bit more pronounced. Where does the sweetness in your laksa come from so I can try that next time? 2) The noodles tasted a little bit bland while they are usually the favorite part of the laksas I eat... What can I do to really let them soak up all the flavors better? Thanks!

Awesome recipe! I tried making it few days ago and find that the large amount of blended spices make the final broth a bit on the thick/grainy side rather than more "soupy". I'm just wondering, is it common practice to drain the broth through a sieve to remove the grains from all the blended spices? Based on my Google search of various laksa recipes, practically none of the recipes suggest draining the broth through a sieve.
