Anthony Bourdain is huge inspiration on so many including myself. He helped us see that there is a much bigger world than just our backyard. He will be greatly missed, but his influence will live on forever in those who continue to explore what it means to be human.

It truly hurts to have someone who spoke for us take his own life. That morning we took my son to the airport KZbin first notified about something concerning Mr Bourdain... I googled the news and was in complete shock. the news left me in tears. Anthony has left a huge hole in our hearts. HE WILL BE MISSED.

Having had lunch with Obama and knowing that Anthony was not a Trump voter was enough of a reason, I doubt they know much more about him - Trumpers & the alt-right are like hungry zombies once triggered and feel justified to create any lie and smear anyone as those 3 uber-morons did in this thread.

So heartbroken. He shot a No Reservations episode in my home country and he treated the food, the people, and most importantly the culture with sincere respect. It was and still is my cure for homesickness. I can’t get over this. What an icon. Thank you chef Bourdain. x

I think he’s one if the reasons why I wanna be a journalist. He really had a way with words and he was always honest. His constant unapologetic way is a trait that a wish I had and I think because he was never anything other than himself, it was a real shock when he died. Not even his friends saw it coming

I read all of his books. He brought me into his world, and made me comfortable with the unknown. I traveled to places I would not have otherwise, after gaining the confidence from following some of the things he spoke about. I have the confidence to eat things that turned out ultimately to be absolutely delicious, that I would not have thought about otherwise, had I not had his encouragement. Thank you Anthony, for the enlightenment you have brought to a lot of us. You will be sorely missed. Rest in peace my friend.

The truth is we don't know the truth about why Anthony took this action to end his life. Whatever the reason, I don't think he was necessarily mentally ill, or whacked out on drugs or alcohol. My instinct is that this man who loved life was somehow driven to do this. My hope is that he is now in a good place, and that whatever his reasoning was that it will not be in vain. My feeling is that this was not a selfish act. Again, we don't know, and perhaps never will, so let's just pray that he rests in safety and peace.
