The NYT and every other media outlet dedicate very minimal resources to journalism or any form of factual information distribution. Factual information doesn't further the agenda of the owners and it doesn't keep the audience consuming the content. The industry standard is for 90% of the content being editorial. The people on the NYT podcasts are working a career no different than Howard Stern, Rush Limbaugh or Alex Jones. They want to keep you angry and engaged.
