O GAUGE, O SCALE WILLIAMS FM CROWN SERIES TRAINMASTER FIRST RUNNING SESSION AND A TRICK!

FIRST RUNNING SESSION WITH MY FM TRAINMASTER BY WILLIAMS. 1980’s VINTAGE BUT LOOKED BRAND NEW ONCE OUT OF THE BOX. HAD ISDUES WITH THE ELECTRONIC FORWARD AND BACKWARDS CONTROL USING A LIONEL CW 80 TRANSFORMER. APPARENTLY THESE SPECIFIC LIONEL TRANSFORMERS HAVE ISSUES CONTROLLING THE WILLIAMS TRAINMASTERS. THE FIX IS TO CUT POWER TOTALLY TO YOUR RAILS AND THEN DO A FEW OFF AND NO CYCLES WITH YOUR TRANSFORMER TO MAKE THE TRAIN CHANGE DIRECTIONS. UNCLE SALTY FROM KZbin SUGGESTED THIS MANEUVER AND IT WORKED. HE WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. SO THE ENGINE IS WORKING GREAT, ITS OLD SCHOOL WITH NO SOUND OTHER THAN THE AWESOME NOISE IF THE TRAIN WHEELS AGAINST THE TRACK. NO TRACTION TIRES ALSO. THIS THING IS A BEAST!!💪💪💪💪👍🔥❤️

It is!. The box was in good condition for its age. I opened the train and it really had not been run much if any. It looks brand new inside and outside. Little to no wear on the wheels. It almost looks like it was purchased then put on a shelf. The engine is awesome and what a first time experience for me with a Williams FM Trainmaster. 👍👍🙏🔥

I have bought many of them. I have modified everyone of mine. The boards failed and would not move at all. I removed the board and added a bridge rectifier. I then wired the locomotives to only go forward. I also wired the motors in series.

Nice addition to the collection! I have a Williams SD45 from the same era that’s a beast! Those things are pretty much indestructible!
