@TheDSMsucka Not necessarily. The O2 sensor heater fault could be due to the following: Loss of power (12 volt) or ground (check relay and ground attachment). If both of these values are good then check O2 sensor continuity. If no continuity meaning that the heater element is broken, then replace the O2 sensor. So check your power and ground first, then heater element. Good luck...

CONTINUED FROM 2: If you see 12V at heater term. then probe with TL for ground. If issue is at 12V then it'll be a relay or fuse issue. If issue is no ground, then ECM is faulty. MAKE SURE YOU ERASE CODES. ECM deactivates O2 heater circuit if a code is seen to protect circuit. Does that make sense? Post back with more to let us know...Thanks for posting.

No, if it's an AFR (wide band) sensor, it pulses to keep a higher temperature. The duty cycle power prevents is from heater element damage. AFRs need a much higher temp. Regular O2 sensors (Zirconium) the heater stay on all the time. They may turn Off periodically, and if there's an issue (CODE), the ECM shuts them OFF completely. THe O2 sensor needs 600 degree F to operate. Lower and no joy on the signal. Exhaust not enough to keep it at 600 F. Thanks for posting.

CONTINUED FROM 1: Then, erase codes using chap code reader and start engine. You should see light bulb shining bright. It probably will not, hence you code. Now here's what you need to know: ECM provides ground to O2 heater. ECM activates a 12V relay to provide power to hear. Make sure heater fuse is good. Make sure heater relay work. Disconnect light bulb from O2 and with key on probe for 12 volts at either heater terminal. CONTINUED 2:

Yes I can help. This is a very easy code to fix. First, you should check the ECM heater-control circuit. Code P0057 is an O2-Heater element code. Disconnect Bank-2 of the after converter O2 sensor (B2S2). ID the 2 heater wires, normally same color wires. Don't make a mistake here. Rig a 12V headlight bulb to 2 wires with end terminal for the O2 connector. Don't use a test light as it only draws 300mA, too small. CONTINUED 1:

Need to confirm and ask general questions for 02 sensor. code says it is upstream sensor. it's not my van having a problem its my sons car. but any information or confirmations would be helpful because info. i will give the 02 sensor a test with propane after making these tests below. hopefully someone can confirm or give insight that will help to testing the wiring etc. there are 4 wires from the 02 sensor. two of which are heater wires and one is signal, the other is a ground. 1) is it the signal wire supposing to be sending 12v to the sensor from computer after turning key to on position? 2) does the signal wire suppose to be putting out to computer .1 to .9 volts after engine warms and while me fluctuating the cars rpms? 3) can i test signal wire for short with test light by connnecting test light to signal wire after disconnecting harness. if light goes on i have a short? yes or no. i read that was a test. need confirmation. 4) How do i test the ground wire going from sensor to computer to make sure i don't have open in the wire?

I have a 2002 nissan maxima. The engine light will not go off. The code that pops on is P0057. I took it to auto zone and they said it was the oxygen sensor bank 2 senser 2. I replaced it and erased the code. I've checked the connections to make sure that they were ok and they seem ok. I'm at a lose. I don't know how to get that light to go off or if I am fixing the right problem. Can you help me please?

Hi, this is a fantastic video. i am currently trying to diagnose a P0141 code for a 2011 fiat 500. i replaced the downstream sensor with a NGK sensor last year but the code came back shortly after. I am currently working without a wiring diagram. i located the wires to the ECM and the engine fuse box. i have no short to grounds or mutual shorts. multimeter says 0ohms on both sensors. its seems both sensors share the same 12v supply. i am getting battery voltage all the way to the ECM. how can i tell if the ECM is switching the circuit. any help will be much appreciated

Hi Mr ADPTraining. I have manual book says two grey wires for heater if no continuity replace. I check, no continuity on grey wires. But have ohm reading on other two wire. Could workshop have messed up the wire color if so the wire with the ohm must be the heater wires and the grey wire must be power wires. Also how do i test without breaking the insulation on wire or using pins probed into pigtail ends?
