From an earlier video it appears that the woman pursued the kids in her vehicle (big mistake) #1, got out of the vehicle and ran up on them #2, didn't "discuss" anything #3, before pepper spraying the driver #4 through the window of a moving vehicle, on only a suspicion, because they had been parked on a public street in front of their house. That's not "protecting" kids...that's assault...and that's how you end up dead on a sidewalk in Oakland. Should have stayed on the porch, or better yet, locked the front door and talked to her kids about the "dangers" of vaping and other unhealthy behaviors. Better yet, news reporters don't get it twisted by throwing 911 operators and law enforcement under the bus 👀

A 16 year old teen(boy) sold a 15 year old teen (girl) vape pen earlier that day. Mom found out. Took the girls phone and DM the teen (boy) acting like she was the girl saying she needed 3 more vapes. So he comes back to sell her 3 vapes but is now with friends randomly and pull up to the address 2020 57th ave but the mom rushes the car trying to open the door screaming at them, the 2 teens in the car tell the driver to leave but the driver puts the window down and the mom attacks the gentlemen pepper spraying the entire inside of the vehicle the driver now can’t see and is stuck in park reving the engine untill he manages to put it in drive and drive off. grandmother then drives after them with the mom, not knowing they where being chased yet the men came to a stop and the woman approaching the vehicle again with a hostile demeanor and then shots rang out. Word on the street is the mother had a gun and when she got shot and left laying there alone bystanders took the gun before police showed up. Also word on the street is the mother was also dealing drugs.. the grandmother left a lot of the story out. And they lied to police and sf chronical about who in their family was purchasing weed.

This is obviously terrible and no one deserves to lose a life for something like this. These types of occurrences have unfortunately become commonplace and emblematic of certain parts of Oakland, especially east Oakland. That being said, and at the risk of being called a victim blamer - I hope everyone's BS meter is going off with respect to this story. This is 99% a drug deal gone wrong with the family now trying to control the narrative that they were not in the wrong. Anyone with a brain should be able to put that together from this nonsensical account. Unfortunately, local news here (KPIX, KRON, etc.) are more interested in coming up with a sympathetic attention grabbing story that reinforces existing stereotypes of Oakland (mother of 8 killed trying to stop drug dealers from getting to her kids - this could happen to you) then actually reporting the facts.
