Since it was so close to being the winner in the poll, I had to check it out for a Tie-Tuesday. 😉 While I heard bits and pieces of this over the years, I never actually listened to this song in full or watched the music video. It always made me a bit sad! Let me know what you think of this one and if you're listening to it for the first time, like me!
Don't forget to leave me a request! 🎵

@@nikkireviews much better to delve into their live performances. ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’ is an out and out rock song. Seeing Oasis live was like being hit by a wall of sound. This is from 1995. Not long after they were playing the biggest indoor concerts in Europe and then stadiums and then biggest concert in U.K. history at Knebworth 1996 kzbin.info/www/bejne/j52QkIibfbhjpKMsi=W0RJMBH4d-L5xXg1 🙌🏽

@@nikkireviews you’re welcome. Their debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ released in 1994, was the fastest selling debut release ever in the U.K. As it’s it 30th anniversary, Liam is currently touring it. KZbin searches will bring up many performances. To throw a curve ball in, another great live U.K. band from the 90’s was Jamiroquai. Very talented and creative musicians with an awesome lead singer/songwriter. Won’t link it, but check out ‘Jamiroquai - too young to die - London 1994’ the bassist was only a teenager but a groove beast. An anti war/government song that is still relevant like a lot of their early music is

Oasis were HUGE !!!over here 🇬🇧 during the 90s but across the pond only Wonderwall (Most well known song but far from their best and also like the drunk national anthem over here 🇬🇧😂) and champagne supernova really got airplay but HIGHLY recommend checking out some of their live stuff, Live forever (Live at Maine road) has Liam on vocals and Don’t look back in anger (Live at riverplate stadium) with Noel on vocals are a great place to start ….BIBLICAL !!!

@@nikkireviews that was one of their big commercial hits , also supersonic , and don’t look back in anger. They have some good ones. Interesting contrast to Chris Cornell, he and his bands, and Oasis are my personal favs. Oasis is really tight and in synce. Noel is the older brother guitar player, Liam is the younger brother. He got into more trouble etc. originally Liam had a band, songs were crap and Noel said ok, I’ll join but I write the songs etc then definitely maybe came out!

Also, the charismatic voice is awesome, you can tell she loves music , it’s refreshing to see someone with such passion! She reacts to Cochise by Audioslave but live 08. Yes the live is amazing and incredible! You totally should react to it but if you don’t, you should just check it out in its own anyway even if not a reaction. Definitely worth your time! The live version of Wonderwall from 2001 is far better than the original, although I HIGHLY recommend the song Live Forever, either studio or live but if you do react to the Live Version then the 1994 Metro Chicago one is the best

Noel is the one on lead guitar, the main songwriter, and his brother Liam was the lead singer, he also wrote some songs. Oasis' first album 'Definitely Maybe' has their best rock material, in my opinion. I think you'd definitely prefer the songs Supersonic, Columbia and Rock n Roll Star. Their live cover of The Beatles' I Am The Walrus is also fantastic.

'Wonderwall' became the biggest single by Oasis in 1995... but believe it or not, lead singer Liam Gallagher did not like the song when he heard it in the studio; his brother Noel Gallagher (guitar/ vocals) who wrote it had to fight to get Liam to sing it. After Oasis split up in 2009 and Liam Gallagher went solo in 2017, he still performs 'Wonderwall' in concert - it's his bread & butter 😂 There are better Oasis songs to check out that became huge hits - 'Live forever' ... 'Supersonic' ... "D'you know what I mean" ... "Don't look back in anger" (lead vocals by Noel Gallagher) ... 'Acquiesce'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘 Liam Gallagher (lead vocals) of Oasis is a huge John Lennon and Beatles fan (So is Noel Gallagher) and Oasis had a lot of Beatles references in their songs... They even sampled The Beatles' 'Strawberry Fields forever' in their song 'Go let it out'... and covered "I am the Walrus" live. (FYI - Paul 'Guigsy' McGuigan on bass, they pronounced his name Guigsy as "goo - eeg - zee" (McGuigan as "mac - goo -ee -gan") Oasis was formed in 1991 when Liam Gallagher (lead vocals) joined a local Manchester, England band called Rain, on the condition that they change the name to Oasis... Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs (guitar), Paul 'Guigsy' McGuigan (bass) and Tony McCarroll (drums) rounded out the band... Liam's older brother Noel Gallagher was a guitarist who wrote songs as a hobby but had no band - he worked as a tech and roadie for other bands... Noel came home and saw Liam's band and was impressed. Liam asked Noel to join and convinced him to let Oasis play his songs cos they felt that their original songs were not good enough. Noel brought in his early songs like - "All around the world" ... 'Columbia' ... "Rock n' roll star" ... "Digsy's dinner"... His lyrics were very much influenced by The Beatles' trippy material like "I am the Walrus" ... 'Come together' ... "Lucy in the sky with diamonds"... Oasis were signed to a British label Creation Records, which gave their artists full creative freedom in 1993. Noel began writing more songs for Oasis' debut album and one of the songs was 'Supersonic' - an uptempo rock song w/ lyrics that didn't make much sense, but it set the standard... Another standout song was 'Live forever' - that single broke big in America in 1995. 'Supersonic' was released as a UK single in 1994 and Oasis exploded in popularity immediately... Their debut album 'Definitely maybe' was released in the Fall of 1994 and went to #1 on the UK charts and became the fastest selling debut album since The Beatles' debut album in 1963... Oasis landed in the USA in '94 to tour and saw 'Definitely maybe' chart in the US and sold gold, then platinum by '95. With pressure to write a follow up record, Noel Gallagher opted to fire drummer Tony McCarroll and enlisted Alan White (drums) in '95 for Oasis' 2nd album "(What's the story) Morning glory"... The album went to #1 in the UK and outsold 'Definitely maybe'... w/ major hit singles like 'Wonderwall' ... 'Champagne supernova' ... 'Some might say' ... "Don't look back in anger"... The album sold 4x platinum in the US. However, drugs... alcohol... and infighting between Liam and Noel Gallagher threatened to derail Oasis on tour. In 1997, Oasis released their 3rd album 'Be here now' w/ high hopes... Unfortunately, Noel Gallagher and the band were grappling w/ drug abuse in the studio and the resulting album was rather bloated sonically... Another major hit, #1 in the UK... platinum in the US but unable to match the success of 'Morning glory'... despite the singles - "D'you know what I mean"... 'Stand by me' ... "Don't go away". With the 90's decade over, Oasis saw trends going against them, as well as setbacks behind the scenes... Creation Records folded... both guitarist Bonehead Arthurs and bassist Guigsy McGuigan quit the band by 1999... Noel Gallagher wrote and played most of their 4th studio album "Standing on the shoulder of giants" released in 2000 w/ Alan White on drums, Liam on vocals... Gem Archer (guitar) and Andy Bell (bass) did the tour and joined Oasis full time. Subsequent Oasis albums did well in the UK and Europe but failed to match their 90's success overseas w/ the albums - 'Heathen chemistry' (2002)... "Don't believe the truth" (2005) and 'Dig out your soul' (2008)... w/ later Oasis hits - "Lyla" ... 'Songbird' ... 'The Hindu Times' ... 'The shock of lightning'... Oasis split up in 2009 after Noel Gallagher quit the band following one too many fights w/ his brother Liam.
