Preach it! After my blood pressure and cholesterol levels were both alarmingly high, I went vegan and focused on a diverse plant based diet. Part of this included oats. Organic steel cut oats for when I had the time and rolled oats or granola when I was in a hurry. I topped up my morning bowl with oat milk, a hefty scoop of nut butter, berries, fruit, ground flax, ground chia, hemp hearts, walnuts, and other nuts and seeds I had on hand. Did this for 8 months. I also adopted a rule, no oil, sugar, or salt added to my foods, like you do, Derek! Anyways, in a nutshell, I recently got my blood work results back and to be honest, I was blown away. My doctor was thrilled. I cut my cholesterol levels in half and am now under the suggested levels for LDL and above the recommended HDL levels. My blood work was described as "beautiful" and I had full support of my doctor to continue my lifestyle. I know for damn sure that the oats every day for the last 8 months did so much. As mentioned they are anti-inflammatory and reduce blood pressure and bad cholesterol. They're amazing for health and make for an awesome breakfast packed with flavour. Derek, you're doing great things by spreading the information, knowledge, and benefits of a healthy lifestyle and diet. Your videos have been inspiring and are always informative. Your attitude and personality make it easy to digest all the information too. Lastly, being in Nanaimo, where the heck is this oat farm!? ✌️👍

@@Simnettnutrition Oats are full of lectins (gluten is just 1 among many lectins) which make you inflamed and to gain fat. Fiber makes you constipated, inflamed and bloated. @Ramiel It's not conclusive if lectins are bad across the board. Anyways gluten free oats are recommended on a low lectin diet. As far as Omega 6. This is in essential in essential fat, but can be inflammatory if not balanced properly with Omega 3. Being so low in fat it's quite easy to compensate with omega 3. In fact they have very little fat, that I don't see the omega ratio being a problem for most, if any people. Those are all facts.

Thank you for sharing these info, I did learn a lot about oats (in particular regarding blood pressure and the microbiome). I love oats (granola, porridge, muësli, crêpes, milk, cookies, flapjack, etc…) I love it for skin and hair care as well, try rubbing your skin with a thin sock full of oats that was immersed in the bath water, perfect for sensitive skins and a soothing bath experience. I use the milk as an after-shampoo rinse and sometimes a light sieved porridge as a curling gel. No toxins, no chemicals, just food for my scalp, and it feels great!

Oats are full of lectins (gluten is just 1 among many lectins) which make you inflamed and to gain fat. Fiber makes you constipated, inflamed and bloated. The fat in Oats are omega 6 which again make you inflamed. The phytic acid in oats prevent all Zinc absorption.

@@disa7082 So gluten its a protein in the family of of Lectins. The reason why gluten is popular it's because it can cause visible symptoms and acute inflammation you can feel. However, its other family members are just as bad but more insidious... Because their damage is not immediate but its profound, they can: make holes in your intestines letting bacteria, fecal matter, and more lectins to come inside the body causing arthritis, inflammation, brain fog weight gain, etc. Others lectins can mimic cells and neurotransmitters and cause anxiety, depresion, parkinson disease, stunt growth in children, etc. Also the nutrients in grains feed the kind of bacteria that dissolves teeth which cause cavities. It's not a coincidence, plants evolved these defence mechanism against things trying to eat them. The only reason why you believe there are good things about grains it's because publicity money...

Cardamom, fresh grated nutmeg and a heaping tablespoon of Ceylon cinnamon is my standard spice mix for all my baked oat recipes (cobbler, clafoutis, muffins).

Grace Hall lots of farms do this in smaller Canadian cities 🙂 In my city they have vegetables out on a table on the honour system. Even pumpkins around Halloween.

You are truly amazing!!!!!you are my inspiration! I've been vegan for 2 years already and I'm in love with this lifestyle. Before discovering your channel I was a bit frustrated because I was eating only salads and was always hungry. So I ended up eating a lot of vegan processed food and ended up gaining weight. Then I discovered your channel and your recipes and tips have helped me so much. I eat much more now but all plant based and I feel great. I love your new series. I also love how authentic you are!!! Crystal is such a lucky girl😊..cheers to both and keep it up. The world needs more of this motivation!! All of this is for the animals❤

Delightful vid! I make those cookies occasionally, with the addition of dried cranberries, toasted coconut flakes, and lots of cinnamon/nutmeg/cloves/etc. Absolutely unbeatable breakfast/snack on-the-go. Thanks for spreading the oat love!
