Within the first minute, stating that no scan tool will tell you what's wrong with your car=thumbs up!
@alozborne2 жыл бұрын
You mentioned that BlueDriver won't scan ABS, transmission, and airbag data but that's not true for all vehicles. Their support page provides a compatibility lookup so you can find out what it scans for your vehicle before you buy. For my 2006 Nissan X-Trail, I'm fortunate to be able to scan not only engine, ABS, transmission, and airbag data but also TPMS and 4WD code data too.
@JRLawson123410 ай бұрын
I think he said it won’t do live view. It only does live view for engine. With that being said, mine will check transmission codes, ABS codes and clear said codes but I’ve never tried to do a live view of my Transmission or ABS.

Something else to note: Be absolutely certain the bi-directional scan tool you buy will do the tests that you want to perform. This fall I spent $800 on an Autel MP808K kit. I bought this tool thinking it will work with three of the vehicles I own, but most importantly it should be able to do a cylinder contribution test and an injector buzz test on my '99 F350. These are very common tests done with the 7.3 Powerstroke diesel and the truck is over 20 years old so surely the software is capable. It isn't. What's worse is that I didn't find out until this week and now the return window has closed. Now I have to drop another $400+ on AutoEnginuity. Do your homework before you buy.

Are the scanners in the $50 range like the Ancel AD410 or the Autel AL519 worth buying? How much better is a Bluedriver than those?
@Marc_YTC4 жыл бұрын
Well BlueDriver gets update for the OBD2 scanner but it will take a very long time to be compatible with other vehicles or newer vehicles. So I would recommend to get expensive obd2 scanner than BlueDriver if you need to look deeper but BlueDriver isn’t bad for the money and portable

So you're comparing a lesser value OBDII to a top model OBDII and expect them both to have the same features... Of course the Top model one will be better!! Why not compare the BlueDriver OBDII to another OBDII of equal value and see which one is better?

That wasn't his point. He chose a few to show whether they may have anything in common & obviously would have different capabilities.

@RepairGeek3 жыл бұрын
If the vehicle is newer than 2008 then yes it will. The bluedriver has a barcode reader using your camera to scan the VIN barcode for older than 2008 vehicles. Launch requires manual input for older thjan 2008

how's that rust test going on? A fella like me is getting real antsy waiting to see your results. Also nice video I have a blue driver obd2 and it's been very helpful on the 6 vehicles my family has. I just picked up a 94 k2500 suburban in december and I am in need of a obd1 scanner do you know of any good ones? Hope you have a good day Kyle
@RepairGeek4 жыл бұрын
Test is going well. I have interesting results for sure. Hoping to have the video or videos up late April or early May. So many test parts it might be 2 separate videos. OBD1 is a pain in the butt and I don't have a good answer to that question. So many different adapters. Each manufacturer has their own. My Launch will do OBD1 but I've never tried it. I know with a lot of older stuff you can jumper 2 of the pins on the data link connector with a piece of wire and the check engine light will blink out the code(s). Obviously because all the connectors are different the pins that you have to jumper will be different between each manufacturer. As far as one specific scanner for OBD1 I have no idea. You can find OEM OBD1 scanners for reasonable prices on eBay because they're not in huge demand anymore.
@Kyle-ku6ir4 жыл бұрын
@@RepairGeek thanks for the information on the obd1 I'll see if I can find one on Ebay or maybe an adapter that will play nice with blue driver. over the past couple years I've been using fluidfilm religiously twice a year ( I know probably overkill) but it's getting expensive with me having to do 6 vehicles. I keep hearing about that boiled linseed oil and it being very cost effective for rust prevention. Has that performed well on your tests? I also tried that crc that you tested and it worked great but the cans leaked like crazy and I lost most of the product did you have anything similar happen to you when you used your crc cans?
@RepairGeek4 жыл бұрын
@@Kyle-ku6ir I can guarantee you one thing. Buying FF for 6 vehicles is cheaper than fixing rust on 6 vehicles lol. Never had that problem with CRC. Linseed oil is better than krown worse than FF. Motor oil, bar and chain oil, transmission fluid- complete waste of time. Looks un-coated they're too thin and just run off.
@Kyle-ku6ir4 жыл бұрын
@@RepairGeek yeah I agree with you about fixing rust it's a real pain. maybe I just got come bad cans of crc. This spring I'll probably get more fluid film and try to supplement it with boiled linseed oil. I've read comments where other people will melt candle wax into fluid film with a hot plate and it resists getting washed off substantially better than without. Kinda like almost making your own lps3. think it will be a pretty interesting thing to try to make the fluidfilm I am spraying last longer.

Dont get an icarsoft product. They "suppport@icarsoft.us ignore your support requests even for the most recent diag tools such as the "CR V2.0 1+4". If you are allowed to program 4 automotive manufacturers including Mercedes Benz into the device, then it should at the very least interface with a W202 PCM/ECU. Buyer beware! This is a known issue and they are are notorious for not replying to your support requests. Im posting this as a public service in order to save you time,money and blood pressure issues.
