I followed her advice for years and during that time I continuously gained weight and experienced EXTREME hunger, in the sense it seemed like no matter how much I ate I was outrageously hungry in about half an hour. After doing it for about a year, I ended up going back to being vegetarian and due to losing SO MUCH muscle, I gained 20 pounds in six months. It was by far the most UNHELPFUL DIET ADVICE I have EVER followed in my life. What I realised after, was that it is just EXTREMELY difficult to eat a lot of calories on that diet. I was coming from a place of extreme restriction, hence why I gained weight but recently I went back and looked at how much I was eating at the time and it couldn't have been more than 1500-2000, which is why my weight stayed down. When I went up to eating the amount I eat now (2500 - 3000...I'm very active btw), I uncontrollably and very quickly gained more weight than I'd ever gained in my entire life. This was due to running a lot and barely doing any weight training or eating any protein, which is exactly what she suggested. She owes so many people an explanation and honestly, I think she's done more damage to veganism than good.

Anybody who was around in the vegan community a few years back, when she was still with Durianrider, knows she lost the weight (she didn't have much to lose tbh, she was always thin/skinny fat at her worst... ) by biking all day (biking trip across Australia), that she maintains her weight on her insane diet by overexercising and that the people who were successful on her diet were not eating as much as she recommended... People who were really trying to stick to the diet she prescribed for everyone ended up gaining an insane amount of weight and she tried to pass it off as "metabolic damage" that would magically disappear after being on the diet for long enough... It doesn't make any sense at all and she straight up made things up to sell her miracle diet and lifestyle to gullible people.

Not to mention she was horrible to people who did anything she deemed "unnatural" yet she herself has breast implants. Not here to judge her for that, but she was there to judge everyone else about it. She got called out SO much about it (because of how very rare it is for someone so, so thin to have breasts her size), she then admitted she got breast implants but claimed it was for health reasons. This isn't about the implants, this is about her dishonesty and hypocrisy. It's also just bizarre, she values being thin above pretty much anything. And any time someone loses weight or is thin that doesn't do exactly what she promotes, she baselessly claims they're lying (they have an eating disorder, they're on steroids, etc). I mean, this woman, Leah, came after Jenna Marbles. Possibly the most beloved creator on all of KZbin. Yet she accuses other people of using HER name for views??? Spiciness is one such "Don't eat this" feature of plants, yet we use it as a seasoning to our food now because we adapted to liking it. And eating 3-5k calories worth of bananas is vastly more than a normal human would eat. Your average banana has 100-120 calories. That's about 30 bananas in a day. It would definitely make you fat and could possibly cause issues with your kidneys with the strain brought on by excessive potassium and vitamin C. Even if nature intended for us to eat bananas, it would not want us to eat 30 of them.

Warning signs of pseudoscience: 1) The discoverer pitches the claim directly to the media. 2) The discoverer says that a powerful establishment is trying to suppress his or her work. 3) The scientific effect involved is always at the very limit of detection. e.g. no clear picture of flying saucer 4) Evidence for a discovery is anecdotal - never trust anecdotal evidence 5) The discoverer says a belief is credible because it has endured for centuries. 6) The discoverer has worked in isolation 7) The discoverer must propose new laws of nature to explain an observation.

Sup guys. Freelee does not represent all vegans. Please don't use this as an opportunity to hate post about veganism. Veganism is NOT a diet. It's an ethical principle that affects your diet. That ethical principle is basically: "Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude-as far as is possible and practicable-all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals." If you want to talk about veganism or have any questions, hit me up. *edits: I just want to say that freelee is a vegan. I edited my post because i want to make it clear that she is vegan, and i believe that her reasons for being vegan are correct and she does make good arguements for veganism. I think that raw veganism however, and calling normal people terrible people is not the best way to approach things. Everyone makes bad choice, we should let people change and improve.

I love fruit and other carbs so I was excited to see a lifestyle composed of mostly fruit and carb consumption. Her claims that it reversed Type II diabetes particularly appealed to me as it runs in my family. Well I gained weight. A lot of it. I fell into a deep depression and gave up. Years later, I ate a balanced diet with a slight caloric deficit and lost 60 pounds, putting me in a healthy BMI category. Freelee's videos are predatory and prey on young, teenage girls.

When I went vegan, I followed many vegan bloggers that ate a high carb low fat diet. I love carbs, hate calorie counting and wanted to lose 20 pounds so it seemed like the perfect diet for me. I put on 13 pounds while on this lifestyle within 11 months despite of my efforts to tweak the diet to make it “healthier”. I went to a doctor who asked me to log my meals to review it. She was shocked when she saw the amount of fruits I was eating. At the time I ate a lot of banana nice creams that consisted of 2-3 bananas, dates, other fruits. The doctor told me that I should not exceed a couple of pieces of fruits per day and I need to go on a more balanced diet that consists of 50% veggies, 25% carbs and 25% protein. I lost the 13 pounds since and an extra 10 since, and all this this year, when we have a lot of stress due to Covid and limited amount of opportunities due to gym closures. I feel great and will continue this lifestyle forever. I’m not saying that being on a high carb low fat vegan diet is harmful for everyone, but it was not working for me.

I was still a teenager and had image insecurities that are typical for that age. I remember really questioning my diet and seriously contemplating following Freelee’s advice because I wanted my body to be as toned as hers. I also remember feeling ashamed of my then diet (which was just my mom’s home cooking) because she was so convincing that what I had been eating my entire life was wrong, unethical and bad for me. I’m glad it was a fleeting idea because when I look back I really think it would’ve lead to an eating disorder. She was horrible to people who did anything she deemed "unnatural" yet she herself has breast implants. She built her entire career not just using other creators for views but being cruel in doing so. She also called Abbey Sharp fat. Which is obviously insane. She insinuated Jenna Marbles was overweight, as well.
@JennRighter4 жыл бұрын
I'm harping on the breast implants because she got views, sold books and diet plans, by telling people they could have a body like hers if they paid her. She was an over-exerciser at the time, claiming someone could be as slim as her with no exercise. Despite her videos that showed her biking DOZENS of miles a day and doing squats while she made her smoothies. She lied about how much she was eating, she lied about how much she was exercising and she lied about having body modifying surgery in order to make money selling shit. It's not right.

I will not criticize her appearance; she is pretty, although it's hard to see that because she's such a mean and judgmental person. See, around 24:30-ish-that’s what she’s not getting. There is NOTHING wrong with advertising your own merch on your own channel, but it’s all about context. The way John advertises his merch, whenever he does so, is usually just like “hey, we launched a new thing, go check it out! Listen to my podcast if you like my videos. We updated our logo, what do y’all think?” And he doesn’t often interrupt the flow of the video to do a super$intrusive ad read-it’s at the beginning, and/or at the end, or whenever the merch comes up in conversation. I’ve watched fl for a long time, I can sum it up for you: 1. We have very long intestines, carnivores are very short. This supposedly show our need for food with high fibre content 2. Our teeth are not meant to tear through animal flesh, try comparing them to the ones of a real carnivore 3. We aren’t meant to survive off raw meat, like carnivores do (see salmonella and other diseases, plus adverse side effects of a diet high in animal products such as cholesterol and diabetes) 4. We aren’t natural hunters (can only hunt with devices we’ve evolved to invent, try killing a cow with your bare hands), but we can easily pick fruits 5. Fruit (at least good quality fruits, not the flavourless stuff in our supermarkets today) tastes awesome to us naturally. Maybe not everyone likes every fruit but we all can find a lot of fruits we love plus there’s many more kinds that have gone basically lost. There’s more points too but I’ve typed enough lol. Feel free to get back to me

@@gablison but it's the tiniest bit, and also she makes a ton of other ridiculously bold claims to be saying "do your research cause I'm right" over and over again. She's not backing anything up with much science, she's just saying "this is what its meant to be and this is the truth"

@@qualcunoacaso6733 1, So no one has said that humans are carnivores, we’re *omnivores*. Meaning we (just like other primates) are able to live off of both plants and meat. Your (or maybe it’s freelee’s) argument here would only have been relevant if the assumption was that we were carnivores, because then yes, our long intestines are too long. But since we are (for a fact) omnivores, we have longer intestines to be able to break plants down *too*. 2, Out teeth ARE made for it. You (or maybe it was just freelee’s info you copied) confuse it with carnivores that use their teeth to KILL their pray. Their teeth look different because their teeth (fangs for example) are their weapons/tools. Like what else is a wolf or a shark supposed to use but their teeth? Our teeth are perfectly made to EAT meat however. Also again, of course we’re not “real carnivores” since we are not, in fact, carnivores at all. We’re omnivores. 3, Again, we’re not carnivores, but omnivores. Our stomach acid is actually quite good at breaking down diseases so I’m not entirely sure where that idea is coming from. We can eat raw meat, it’s even popular dishes in many countries (including my own). But I also want to point out something extremely crucial here - the earliest definitive evidence of control of fire, was about more than 1.5 MILLION years before the first human (homo sapiens) existed. So human ancestors used fire for at least a million years before we existed and it’s highly likely that the stomachs of the human ancestors some 2 million years ago were different from the ones we have. Since human ancestors learned how to use fire and cook meat, humans’ stomachs evolved to what we have today. Simple evolution, right? Also, all evidence about diabetes points toward high sugar intake, so refined sugar is the villain there, not meat. High cholesterol is being debated, especially since there is a good cholesterol and a bad cholesterol. But yes, there is a link to the bad cholesterol and a high intake of red meat and animal fats. However fatty fishes (like salmon) are absolutely amazing for the good cholesterol, so that if anything would be an argument against veganism, no? 😉 4, See point number 3. Us humans have evolved for millions of years, the modern human (homo sapiens) is only about 300 000 years old. The human ancestors could once upon a time hunt without tools too. That’s most likely before we were completely erect. Humans evolved to the point where we aren’t covered in fur anymore too, does that mean that we should go around naked? We left the continent of Africa a long time ago and besides from a rather small strip around the equator, we wouldn’t be able to survive without clothes. There was snow in the Sahara desert just a week ago, what then? Just die? Our brains evolved and with our brains our tools for surviving evolved too. They are necessary for us to survive. You can see the same in nature, with for example hermit crabs. They also evolved to need a tool to survive. And if you add building nests there are few animals that can survive entirely without tools. 5, ok well, this isn’t really an argument against humans eating meat though. Fruits are awesome and especially the ripe ones you pick from the tree and I’m sure everyone can find a fruit that they like! ☺️

@@qualcunoacaso6733 this is evidence against us being carnivores but if you just look at our teeth you’ll see we are actually meant to be eating as omnivores. The way our teeth are designed SHOWS that we are designed to be able to eat meat and veg\fruit

10:22 She's distancing from her defining project "30bananasaday DOT com" that she had been promoting since 2007 until recently when she has took it down now since she replaced it with her new website. 13:57 her argument is that you can't criticize her for trying to make money if you also make money - especially if you think her diet advice is unsustainable or harmful (like saying fructose can't make you fat if it's in a fruit). 18:40 using teeth as evidence that humans are frugivores doesn't hold up. They find the one animal that has teeth like humans and eats fruit and claim humans are frugivores. Compare human teeth to other frugivores; look at the teeth of a Fruit Bat or the teeth of a Maned Wolf, both of which are frugivores. Do all carnivores have the same teeth? A hedge hog is a carnivore but it's teeth look exactly like the teeth of a fruit bat, so should a hedge hog actually be a frugivore too or does that mean the fruit bad is a carnivore? 19:00 "Human's have a frugivore digestive system" this is basically the same as above it's just cherry picking one example of a frugivore that is similar to human (i.e. the orangutan) and claiming humans are therefore frugivore. Also claiming all animals of X diet have colon X times the length of their body doesn't hold up because it is cherry picked and breaks down immediately when you find other examples. 39:20 I doubt she actually thinks John is on ped's, she's just baiting him to take a blood test because it's a win-win for her: if his blood test isn't as good as her's she'd say it's proof his diet is worse, if it is good then "who cares" cause her's is already good and there isn't really a "better" when you're in the healthy range already for everything. 36:44 When she talks about others she is just "speaking the truth" but when people talk about her they are "attacking her for views". 39:42 I know plenty of people who eat meat and have never or just choose not to drink coffee, is that because their diet is also not deficient by her logic as well? 40:27 "calorically-deficient" = bad, her diet is better cause you can eat unlimited calories and lose weight magically. 41:30 I'm calling John "the lost frugivore" from now on 48:13 I disagree with John, standing up to a bully does not also make you a bully. btw I haven't eaten meat in over 5 years

That graph showed more than teeth though
@asherrfacee4 жыл бұрын
@@blackarchon8778 yes true, the other big one I see talked about is digestion track length, but there are other comparisons on there as well. I’m not saying it’s wrong, I’m just saying it isn’t proof to just compare humans to one example of a frugivore (the orangutan) and then claim that we are therefore also frugivore, because if you compare humans to literally any other frugivore then you find those assumptions fail. Looking at historical fossil records from human evolution I think is a better indication and those would indicate starch and other cooked food has been a crucial element of human diet from our earliest records.

She complained about him "framing" her, and then she literally accused him of "juicing, and I don't mean fruit" with zero evidence or backing... That really irritated me. I get she's doing it to get a rise out of him, but that is very unkind. But like people say in the world of gaming, the highest complement is when someone accuses you of hacking.
