Wow we had something similar... my mom was screaming in agony for her first pregnancy with my older brother, she was laughing because I was a c-section and she was so relieved that it wasn't as painful as the first pregnancy, and she was singing to the music with my little brother. My older brother wound up being a criminal and is still serving in Georgia, I ended up being always engaged with humor and joking with her, and my little brother has taken an interest in music.

I came out silent, my mom thought I was dead. I learned to walk at 10 months and then decided I was self sufficient enough that I didn't learn to talk until I was 3, then spoke in nearly full sentences. Also stayed bald till I was about 3-4. I think I'm an only child because my parents were scared of WTH the next one would do.

How can you not know that first movement of the fetus called " quickening " How can you not feel heavy? I'm a flight attendant and yes we get to fly for free domestically and internationally we just pay a small fee. My parents and one travel companion of my choice also fly for free :) Benefits depend on the airline though.

My grandma worked for pan am back in the day and theyd literally fly across country for the afternoon for free just to eat lunch somewhere, downside is they measured your bust, waist and hip and heel size as well as weigh, along with strict makeup and hair requirements so.... probably not worth it back then

I was on a flight from Dallas to St Paul and a passenger went into premature labor. During the Christmas holiday, turbulence and snow. It was so scary but I've never seen a tougher woman. She labored for the entire flight, refused to have the plane rerouted or turned around. The main thing was how the entire flight banded together for her and supported her by counting her contractions and just being excellent humans. Beautiful experience, 10/10 would do again. ❤️

TBH, most of the things expectant parents and their friends buy for the baby are not necessary. That oh-so-adorable holiday dress -- most likely not ever going to be worn, or only worn once and the next week it will not fit. Don't spring for expensive stuff that becomes useless! All of mine were quiet when born. The two first ones were breathing and looked a bit surprised, wrinkling their noses and looking around, so completely fine without screaming. My third one got a bit of a shock since he flew out of me like superman 😂 looked around with huge eyes and just held his breath! He was connected to the umbilical cord and it was still pulsating, so we were all good and simply rubbed him down, talked to him and very gently blew air on his face to prompt him to breathe in. At some point he got the hang of it. 😂

There's actually been studies showing that it's easier to learn languages as an adult (as in grammar and vocabulary). It's just easier to learn accents/different sounds you're not used to as a child.

There’s advantages and disadvantages to second language acquisition in both children and adults. Young children do acquire languages more easily in that ‘critical learning period’, although for a second language they don’t have much motivation to learn (Milo’s not going to understand that he needs to learn Spanish so Mommy can travel for free) and obviously don’t have the attention spans for a formal learning environment. Adults, while out of that critical learning period, are good at sitting in classrooms and learning stuff and also have a reason to learn the language. So basically, you’re never too old (or too young) to learn another language!

Peppa Edits no... Toddlers don't even fully know their first language. It would likely take them more than 4 years to learn both languages fluently. It really is not easier for them to learn a second language. It's easier for adults to actually learn the language. It's easier for toddlers to listen for sounds that are not common in the adult's first language.... But adults can still learn how to do that.

Oh I totally had that “starry eyed movie love”!!! I had my only child 3 months before I turned 20 and from the minute I knew she was in my tummy, she became my entire world. I always wanted lots of children!! I wanted a crazy, loud house full of kids! My first pregnancy unfortunately ended in miscarriage. I conceived my daughter with my second pregnancy, and then my husband and I tried for 20 years to give my little girl a sibling with no success. I have 5 babies in heaven and I can’t wait to meet them one day. As of right now, I’m 42 years old, and my dreams of having more children are over. I have finally come to terms with how my life played out. The biggest part of me finally being ok and not bursting into tears every time I see a pregnant woman, or having to remove myself from the room every time a diaper commercial comes on the television, was watching my miracle child; my daughter, as she has become a Mother herself! I cried myself to sleep every night for 20 years, but now I sleep soundly and wake with a smile every day. My daughter had a gorgeous baby boy in January of 2020, and she just delivered a second perfect baby boy in August of 2021, just a few weeks ago! I feel like the luckiest woman in the world!!! My grandsons Sage August, and Salem Jude have made all of my baby dreams come true. I didn’t realize that all of the feelings you have as a mother, for your babies, extend to your grandchildren! It’s the same love! It’s incredible and I truly believe that my struggles have made me appreciate the blessings of my baby boys even more than I would have if I didn’t ache so desperately and long for babies for so much of my life. Same! I always laugh at how big babies "just being born" in tv and film are. It's too funny. I always think about that fact that someone allowed other people to goop up their baby and make them look "just born" for money too.🤣 Sometimes they just show them all wrapped up in a blanket but often they try to make it look as real as possible and show the baby all bloody and goopy from birth..I just wonder what they are putting on the baby to make them look like that? I was a flight attendant for United Airlines for six years. My absolute favorite time in the business was the year that I flew internationally and did nothing but jet back and forth to the UK. We were able to fly domestically for free, so when my sister lived in Hawaii I was able to go a couple of times to see her at no cost. International flights were not free, but very cheap compared to paying full fare. As with any job, there were things about it that were great as well as things that weren’t. I left the airline after getting married because I just really wanted to have a more regular schedule and be home with my husband. I have never regretted leaving, especially after having kids. It’s a lifestyle that I have no interest in anymore now that I have a family.

When my brother was born, he didn't cry. He literally just looked around and went to sleep. The next time they saw him awake, it was the next day and they were giving him a bath. Woke up when put in water and went back to sleep when being dried off. He was never a handful in the sense that he slept more than anything else and he's an extremely quiet child that was happy with his bottle and a nap. So they had a second child. Who screamed, cried, never slept more than an hour at a time, was impossible to get to rest, always got into things they shouldn't, and over all made them decide two was enough.

She told the nurse to spank me to make me cry/breathe but the nurse kept telling her that I was breathing and just kept looking at my surroundings, and my mom being stubborn as a mule didn’t care what she said and kept telling her to basically hit me 😂

In France, we call this situation "déni de grossesse" and the mothers felt nothing during the pregnancy because the mom's brain switches to "smuggling mode" and gets the message to the rest of the body to hide the baby and even to the baby to act like a stowaway! Happened to a good friend of mine and it can happen to any woman even women that have had several pregnancies before… sometimes it's even not for the whole 9 months and when the brain is ready to let the mental information processing, the belly can start to show in minutes only! Freaking wow, like 15minutes ago the woman had a flat belly and then it pops out like an air mattress to show a 6 months pregnancy belly.

That happened to me!! I went from not showing at all - zero showing. Went to dinner, had to unzip my pants and luckily had a longer blouse. It was a weekend. When my first son was born and they put him in my arms, I really felt like..."What am I supposed to do with this?" It took me 2 or 3 weeks to finally bond with him. With my second son, I couldn't take my eyes off of him from the very first moment. Everything was opposite. First pregnancy I was excited, felt great, couldn't wait to meet him and then.....what is this. Second pregnancy was utterly miserable uncomfortable and unhappy, zero excitement, and then...instant love. Bizarre how these things go.

For me, I don't like to feel like I'm out of control, don't like gigantic needles or being numb. So even though the labihr without it was painful, I felt it was a much more enjoyable experience. It went quite quickly and without fuss too.

@@vanderbam2741 I was wondering whether the being numb kinda made you feel you were somewhat distant, like being behind a glass panel, during your own labor. Or maybe if it was a movie the epidural labor would be in black and white due to the numbness. The pain is obviously one of the downsides to labor, but being able to feel what happens during childbirth like how the muscles naturally do what they do, how each step your baby takes out the birth canal might feel, how it feels afterwards, etc. It might make you feel more 'there', and if it was a movie it would be in technicolour. It is actually quite enviable on one hand for me. (Single and childless by choice. This is due to bad DNA from both awesome parents that a biological child is likely to inherit regardless of how amazing the hypothetical (currently non existant) partner's genetics are. Another major issue is that I am too ill to even manage to care for myself. Also my Mum had me 'late' in her words, and I'm older than she was when she had me). I feel sad that I won't experience what pregnancy, labor, birth, attempts at breast feeding etc would feel like. However, I feel it is the most responsible choice to make for welfare of any child. (Not to say others in my situation could not have children/care for children and be amazing parents. Just personally for me!).... You''ve got to be so careful on the internet these days! Eugh!

Yes as a first time mom at 21 I didn’t know what to expect but once my son was born a breathed a HUGE sigh of relief for my body, and next was hearing my son cry and then holding him. The nurturing love was there right away and then total love within 24 hours (which I was understandably sleeping for most of). 9 lb 10 oz baby boy. 💙 Best feeling ever. 💝

With my first pregnancy I didn't notice kicks until I was over half way through. At that point the kicks in the ribs and low down in the pelvis were pretty distinctive. With my second pregnancy I knew what to expect and recognized them at 13 weeks which is about as early as possible. Bigger baby pregnancy kicks just feel like quick pressure, like exactly as if a tiny foot is kicking you. Sometimes there are even rolling ones where it's like the baby is turning and you can feel pressure from inside moving across a few inches a the baby moves. Those ones are especially weird lol. Small baby kicks almost feel like if you have to poop and you can kinda feel it coming around the corner of your intestines, but the position is different since it's not coming from your intestines.

I’m currently pregnant with my first child and I’m kind of in a unique situation as far as being able to feel the baby. I’ve always heard it’s similar to gas pains, rumbling in your bowels and stomach. I have Crohn’s disease and had my entire colon removed a year ago. When I started to feel my baby, it felt like “normal” gas pains to me. Which is something I haven’t felt in so long, especially the last year. So I totally know when it’s him because I’ll get an rumble or push that’s like “hmm, I’m not suppose to have that.”

If it is appropriate, maybe ask your mom about your birth/her labor experience, and how it compared to her other labor experiences if applicable. Also, maybe also ask about how you appeared when born and what the doctors/health professionals said about it. If it went smoothly, and both of you were healthy then it could be the first 'normal' for your mom and you. I know I completely didn't answer your question, and this is probably frustrating. I recommend google and/or google scholar (if you understand/can google medical/research terminology and get the meaning!) for the statistics, and you may prefer to specify your country or location (or the location you were born), and maybe whether you want them to be recent or at the time of your birth. (Note: Never been pregnant, and totally unaware of research/statistics on this!).

When you're a flight attendant or work for an airline in any other capacity you usually have flying benefits. Each airline is different but usually the worker and their family can purchase plane tickets significantly cheaper. Also they have the option of purchasing standby tickets which are usually cheapest of all.

I personally fly through a family member that works for a European airline (member of Star alliance). Next to the aforementioned standby tickets we can also purchase confirmed seats for much cheaper (for example over the holidays I flew round trip FRA-ORD for 223€). It's actually a great thing. So yeah F.A.s should quit their jobs and work for European airlines as I believe the benefits overall are much better.

Ok guys I see a bit of confusion in the comments that I would like to clear up. We fly standby for free, only bap the taxes. These do not guarantee us a seat though. We also get a discount on full fare tickets which give us a normal seat like everyone else. Most companies allow the employee to keep their flying benefits for life if they have been with the company for 25 years. With united, you can only have flying benefits for your children until they are 26. Employee parents usually keep their flying benefits during their lives.

I was starry-eyed for my first child. My daughter who took so long to have. After over a year of trying, I finally got pregnant and her delivery ended up in an emergency c-section after 12hours of labor. We wanted children so much and fell head over heels for her! However, I always felt bad that I didn't seem to have the same connection with my 2nd and 3rd babies. I felt so bad that I didn't feel that way. The doctors were all discussing the images but I had no idea if they were still alive or not or what was going on. When I had my baby, it was an emergency C-section and he was taken immediately to the NICU. I didn't have any instant connection (though I wanted it) to this little life and my sister and dad said that my little boy was the most beautiful thing they'd ever seen and they had a connection immediately. It's heartbreaking when you are the mother and everyone else seems to have that 'starry eyed moment' without you and you have to start your relationship from scratch in a hospital, only allowed to hold your baby twice a day.

When I had my firstborn I had a traumatic birth experience, when I first saw her I literally remembered thinking who is that? I don’t know why I thought I’d recognize her never having seen her before 😂 I wasn’t in the right mind shock and trauma definitely make you think weirdly

I felt the same way with my daughter. There wasn't a connection at first. I loved her and cared for her but it was kinda like "Hi. My name's mommy. Nice to meet you." Handshake included. And now we're best buds. 😄❤

I had PPD, with primal love for my son when he was a baby. I cared that he was feed, played with, ect. I enjoyed it when he learned a new thing. But I didn't like him as a person until 2-3. I never really liked babies before having one. And I still didn't with my own. Babies feel like a screaming tomagotchi where the stakes are too high if I fail. Now that he's 5 and wanting to learn about art and science, We connect way better. I get to mother in subjects that I enjoy, and he gets a present engaged parent with a love of why questions. We've found our stride...I do feel like it took longer then I saw with the mothers around me. I always felt like a distant/cold mother in his early years because of that.

This is more common than people like to admit, and even when they do, they tend to sugar coat the feelings for the sake of appearances or being judged. My OBGYN explained her situation as this: "When we [Her and her Husband] decided to have kids he was all about the baby stuff. The toys, the toes, and all of the 'firsts'. I was always more interested in them as a person, or when they became one at least. I couldn't wait to get to know them and have conversations with them. Like I'd day dream of what classes would interest them. Would they want to go to college or pick up a trade? Would they wanna be a movie star? Or just the beer and fishing type? The world of possibilities was just so fascinating. And it was a gift I would get to open everyday in like 10/12ish years." She's had three girls, all are in their 20s and while she has no interest in returning to the baby years, she said she seemed to avoid the empty nest feelings because she was never so encapsulated in the raising aspect. She loves getting updates on their hobbies and life and she's just so excited to have seen them grow into adults and spend time with them.

When my kids were born I didn't have that starry-eyed love thing either. The thing that blew my mind was how something that size came out of my body. Like was literally the first thing I thought every time I looked at my baby, for like a week I was like "dang, I can't believe you came out of me, let's get that diaper changed".

Same with me to an extent. I was on nexplanon but due to my bipolar medication (primarily used as a medication for seizures) it failed and I got pregnant at 16. I loved her at first sight but wasn’t really emotionally connected till at least 20 weeks pregnant and not totally until she was born. Never had any prior experience with children/babies so it was pretty damn weird. Somehow got a bad uterus infection when she was 1 1/2 weeks old and was hospitalized for a week so adjusting to that and practically re-learning everything was difficult.Every birth story is different and that’s totally okay! 🥰 Way to go momma

@@phishyboic959 oy. I got an infection too, but at 25 weeks. I almost lost her, and had to be put in intravenous antibiotics in the hospital overnight then was sent home with oral ones and strict bedrest for a month-- the infection was attacking her placenta. It was all cleared up by the time she was full term and they put me on an IV antibiotic during labor just in case to avoid what happened with you.

Pamela M. M. Berkeley I’m glad everything turned out well!! I had a vaginal delivery with no complications which only took 9 hours(although I had borderline preeclampsia) so it was pretty unexpected. In hindsight I was pretty damn lucky.

When I was born I had the cord wrapped around my neck. I was given 7 hrs to live. They found out I have Cerebral Palsy shortly afterward. I am now 62 yrs old. I am a survivor!

mostly its just leave her alone, and have help on hand in case of too much post partum bleeding. birth does not often require any real intervention, and is rarely an emergency.

It actually happened to my aunt twice! After my oldest cousin was born, she stopped having her period, so that wasn’t an indicator, and she wrote the weight gain and sickness off as just, you know, she’s not eating great or it’s a stomach bug, or anything else. After my second cousin was born, she didn’t want that to happen again, so she got her tubes tied. Since it was immediately after birth, everything healed and went back to normal (it’s still a crazy small chance, but whenever it reverses it’s bc they were tied right after birth) and the same thing happened where she completely didn’t know until like, 2nd trimester at least. It was a wild ride for her and our family

Lol I didn’t know I was pregnant till I was 19 weeks I had period I grabbed a test not even thinking I was, I would always check periodically to be safe and I’ll tell you what when I took the test I thought I was only like a couple of weeks but no I was way longer the 2 weeks

Same omg!! Like I found out at 6 weeks but I don’t know how some women can be 6 months and not know. The human body is crazy. Sometimes you don’t gain that much weight and there’s no visible bump, sometimes you have very few symptoms of being pregnant... idk how but I’ve heard so many stories like that!
