About sweat on Tatooine: when you are adapted or acclimatized to extreme heat (especially when it is dry heat) the body stops sweating to retain as much liquid as possible and begins to use other methods of heat dissipation such as controlling the temperature difference between the trunk and limbs, changes in blood pressure, etc.

I think Vader's last line with the Emperor also answer the "When I left you..." quote. Darth DID left Obi: he let him go, as the Emperor commanded. He left him behind for another 10 years... Another interesting note for Qui-Gin's force ghost: He was the first Force Ghost in eons and he didn't even know that such a thing was possible. Thus, he had no actual training to be a better ghost. The first time we get a hint that his force ghost was even a thing was when Yoda was meditating and heard Qui-Gon react to Anakin slaughtering the Tuskans. Even after all of those years, he was still just a voice. It took him quite awhile to become more and to have a full on conversation with someone. But he was able to help both Yoda and Obi-Wan prepare themselves while they were still alive. Thus, they would be more atuned to seeing his force ghost and when they would eventually died, wouldn't have to wait years upon years to learn how to do things like Qui-Gon had to. (And as a side note: It's kind of implied that only those who have a strong connection to the Light Side of the Force can see these Force Ghost, and Obi-Wan had basically lost his connection with the Force after RotS, only getting it back fully in the last episode. Whereas Luke was fully trying to embrace the Force even though he wasn't a Master Jedi by any means.)

When Star Wars first came out (when a lot of us were kids) did we really care about all these things? NO, we just wanted the story and action. We got just that, a story and action. The Obi series made me feel like that kid again filled with suspense and excitement. Knowing what we all know what was to come in Esp4 didn't take away from Obi, it just complemented it. I just assumed older Leia didn't mention knowing Obi-Wan in the message because they haven't seen each other in years and she thinks he might not recognize her as an adult on a blurry hologram but he remembers her father so she just mentions her father and he can fill in the blanks. And I think Vader never felt Leia and Luke in the force because he wasn't searching for them and they didn't have a strong connection to the force. To him older Leia was an obstacle he had to overcome.

I think depth of emotional connection/significance also plays a role. Remember, prior to Luke's duel with Vader on Cloud City, he could neither sense Vader's presence nor hear his telepathy (an ability conspicuously rare in the Prequels). And yet in the immediate aftermath of the duel, when Luke is still in emotional and physical shock, he suddenly can. It's also interesting that the person he successfully calls out to is Leia, with whom he has a strong emotional (as well as genetic) bond. Yet Vader and Leia and Vader (whose main experience together is in a torture chamber as defiant enemies on opposing sides) can't sense each other this way. Likewise, in Ep 4, Vader does not sense Luke (until he is tailing him in a dogfight), but immediately recognizes Obi-Wan, with whom he has a deep emotional connection as the older brother who worked to raise him.
@Captain-Luma2 жыл бұрын
1:20 - “Vader knows first hand how agonizing it is to be left to die and he wanted her to suffer from her wound. And if she made it through, it wouldn’t matter because she was insignificant to him.” I’m sorry but that’s just not true. Three things: 1) “…he wanted her to suffer.” - what Vader went through was personal to him. He would have no reason to choose such a personal method of execution for just another imperial pawn. Vader cuts down Jedi left and right, why for Reva would he all of a sudden want to go out of his to make sure she “knows what it is to be left to die.” - he wouldn’t. That kind of special, personal execution would be reserved for Kenobi sure, but for some third rate imperial pawn and off-brand sith, not a chance. There was not only no purpose in it but it was also dangerous for Vader to leave her alive which leads us to my second point. 2) Reva knew Vader was Anakin and Vader knew Reva knew that. All imperial records show that Anakin was killed; the Galaxy thought anakin was killed; and the only people outside of people like Palpatine, Yoda, and Kenobi, were usually killed BECAUSE they knew too much about anakin and Vader. Vader would regularly kill people who made the connection without a second thought. - Thrawn deduced the connection but never said anything outright because it would put him at risk. He did hint at it a time or two but Vader couldn’t do anything since thrawn was too useful to the emperor. Still, it’s not information that thrawn felt comfortable enough to spread. He was safe as long as he didn’t push it. Throughout Vader’s life, we see him struggle time and time again with trying to rid himself of the existence of anakin. Vader was powerful but information is greater still. He knew that the leak would make it impossible to be rid of anakin once and for all and so he made a discipline of executing those who knew. No loose ends. That said, “Reva was insignificant to him.” Does not make sense because by virtue of being privy to highly personal information of Vader, she became extremely significant. He would have not only cut her down but he would have ensured that she was dead. Vader regularly forced choked people. Part of that is so that he could confirm their death by feeling their life drain through the force. Vader would not have just stabbed her and left. He would have taken an interest in making sure she was absolutely dead to ensure the destruction of that loose end. Not to mention, Vader is extremely enraged. Being “betrayed” by someone who caused him to lose Kenobi again while ALSO reminding him of his life as anakin Skywalker would have earned her an enraged execution. She 100% would have been dead before Vader even took a step back. 3) and no, it does not “make it better so that she could make it for the scene at the end of the show.” Because it was established that she was deranged psychopath. Her “redemption arc” if you can’t even call a last second side switch a redemption arc, comes out of no where and makes no sense. - The only reason we saw it coming is because everyone saw from a mile away that Disney wants a Reva spinoff or at least, to be a recurring character.
@meganofsherwood36652 жыл бұрын
Of course, this is 9-10 years pre ANH. For all we know, his mistake with Reva is why he now chokes people and verifies that they are dead, lol As for the redemption arc, it's very similar to the one used for Luke in ROTJ - she recognizes that she is becoming the very thing she sought to destroy, and chooses not to. Admittedly, Luke had cut off his father's hand, vs hunting down Jedi & force-sensitives for years, but in Star Wars canon, Vader gets a redemption too, and he's done more and worse things than Reva.
@Hawk1990312 жыл бұрын
Another thing that could explain why Luke seems to have such ease with interacting with force ghost, could very well be innate talent. Many force users would find they were better at certain things regarding the force than others all the time. Leia was espeically talented at influencing others minds and reading their surface feelings with out any formal training. It's what made her such a great senator. Mace created a variant form of lightsaber combat that totally circumvented the original style's highly potential darkside corruption. There are tons of examples more of stuff like this. Also that wasn't Qui Gon on Mortis, That was the Son messing with them.

Agreed. If people paid even the remotest attention to the movies and the show, they would know the answers to their questions. Not to mention, Lucas wrote the originals not knowing he would make the prequels. He wrote the prequels not knowing there would be sequels. He created the Clone Wars to fill in the many stories of between ATOC and ROTS. He had no way of predict that Disney was going to have a streaming service with shows that would be directly connect to something he created in the mid-70's. So all this nitpicking is pointless. It's fiction. It's pretend. Fantasy. It's a story. Most of these "inconsistencies" happened simply because it suits the plot of a specific story. People just need to relax. I was thinking about Leia's message to Obi-Wan and her reaction to Luke when he told her that Obi-Wan was with him to rescue her. I think the message wasn't to get Obi-Wan's help, but to keep Vader and the Death Star away from the Rebel Base. First thing, the Death Star was built in secret. So no one out side of Rogue One, who are all dead, the Rebel leaders in that last meeting before Rogue One, and the Empire. And the attacks on Jedha and Scarif were not know because the planets were not destroyed. So anyone outside of the those mentioned would not have any idea of the power of the Death Star. I think that the first target for the Death Star was to be the Rebel Base and not Alderaan. Moff Tarkin, I think, went off on his own with destroying the planet. But Emperor Palpatine back his play, because right after he dissolved the senate. Leia must know that once the Death Star was used that more Planets would rebel against the Empire. She sent the the message to Obi-Wan to take the plans to her father not to a Rebel base. Which means she was willing to put Obi-Wan and her family in danger, but not the Rebellion. She was about to give up a old base on Dantooine, but not the current one on Yavin 4. Empire was to get the message before Obi-Wan then they would have heard her say "Obi-Wan" name. This would make Vader move his attention away from finding the Rebel Base and to focus on finding Obi-Wan, because she has witnessed this due to events of Obi-Wan the series. This would have gave the Rebel's time to either move the base or think of another attack plan on the Death Star.

Great explanations, seems like an incredibly weak argument for how Reva beats Leía to the end of tunnel though. To say Reva took a different (longer and slower) path without any kind of guide or that she mind tricks a pilot at the end of a tunnel she doesn’t know exists yet to tell her the fastest route to the end of that tunnel (which Leía would already be on the fastest path) are some logical leaps that just don’t feel necessary to make. The writer’s have a number of oopsies in the show and this is one of them. Not the end of the world and like you said with Obi-Wan’s hut we don’t need to know, it’s a plot contrivance no need to complicate things even further by giving Reva super mind reading powers (which I’m surprised no one brought up why she didn’t use a mind trick on Owen like she did Haja to find Obi-Wan, *spoiler* the reason is plot and that’s ok) or magic tunnel maze navigation.

@@waxrepine1298 The port couldn't be hidden because anyone can see ships take off and land from those ports. Reva took a shorter and quicker path. The tunnel clearly isn't a straight line, so Leia wasn't on the quickest path. Reva knew Leia was trying to get off the planet. Given the backwater nature of the planet there was probably only one port in the vicinity, and Reva could travel directly there.

Secondly if there are multiple paths how would she possibly know that one path doesn't just branch of to some random place or isn't a dead end? At the end of the series, he realized that a part of Anakin had risen during their fight and was telling Vader to back away so that Anakin would be less draw to the surface. As far as sweating on a desert planet, one of the ways to stay cool is to wear light colored clothes that block the sun, but let air through. The cloths they wear are just that type.
@houseofaction2 жыл бұрын
wrong in a desert the best clothing is dark colored baggy clothing. light colored clothing reflect heat and as such it reflects body heat back at the body trapping it
@roberthicks16122 жыл бұрын
@@houseofaction Then why is everything that is worn in the desert is light colored? Your body does not radiate heat as light. It does it as convection, which means the air is heated. Since the clothes are light in weight, air can pass through it, taking the heat away. Dark clothes absorb sunlight, and radiate it both inwards and outwards, meaning it heats up the body.

Great video. I think the show does an excellent job of standing in its own. Most of the plot holes are addressed in the series. The one thing that bothered me for a while was Obi-Wan leaving Vader alive in the final episode. Especially after Vader said he killed Anakin. I know it may have spoiled that final reveal, but how awesome would it have been to see Kenobi staring down Vader before hearing “He IS the Chosen One.” This would have caused goosebumps. We would have all thought that was the Qui-Gon cameo, and it might have made that final scene better. If Vader doesn’t live, would Luke have defeated the Emperor? No, because Anakin was the Chosen One to bring balance to the Force. Loved the series and thanks for the content.

while I'm much softer on the shows plotholes now, I do feel you had to make some leaps to fill in certain plot hows. for example Riva both with the tunnels and getting to Luke first without any way to do so. You do explain it but when you have to give a string of logic a specific string of logic like. the tunnels MUST but divering paths or nwo that vader doesnt care about her (I like you take on keeping her alive) there is no way they would allow her to get on a transport or polit her ship out of there . they would have taken wit with them (assuming she had a persoanl ship) If all of this WAS the case my only thought the Vaders sadism went as fair to let her live, let her keep a ship or a transport out of there just so she can live her injuired life knowing she was inferior to him. but I feel even THATS a streach. she knows so much she could leak

For me, I think Vader truly never learned his lesson, even as far back as Revenge of the Sith. Sure, he was a Jedi Knight, but seriously, he never EARNED the right to be a Master. Palpatine forced the Jedi to do it. If his service in the Clone Wars would have done it, he would have been there. The Council knew his recklessness. So they kept him off. As we saw with the flashback duel, you were spot on. At the end of the day, what I think this series showed us is both sides of Vader. Yes, he’s powerful in the Force, and physically. But he never MATURED. That’s the failing of the dark side. Your overconfidence. Not to mention he needs to constantly prove himself, especially when he confronts Kenobi, TWICE. Even then, Obi-wan outsmarts him. And on the Death Star? Physically, neither were at the top of their game. Either that, Obi-Wan was toying with him, which is possible. His end game wasn’t to work n, but to ensure the Falcon left. He knew he wouldn’t get out alive, and if he lived long enough, Vader would have tortured him, so he let him cut him down.

Stretching to explain some of these. Reva knows he is Anakin. He used her and she was no longer useful. In the original trilogy, he killed commanders for minor screwups. Vader left Reva because they want her to have a spin off. Vader walked away from Obi-wan on 2 occasions because the story required it. There wasn't a viable in story reason for it. Also are people really debating a line from a New Hope? Vader's line meant what he actually said until they decided to add content that wasn't originally there.

Why is Bail Organa so stupid? Why does he have to say, I am going to Tatooine, to the very special boy, the one who lives on the farm with Owen? Why didn't he just say something like" I am going to look for the other one"? Something like that, something that isn't that on the nose. And if u still want your grand finale with the inquisitor chasing Luke, just make her follow Organa.

Because Disney Organas are actually very bad at operational security. There's a novel or a comic where Leia goes to Naboo, dresses up as the queen and gets recognized by someone who knew Padme. Like it's a whole goddam planet, and she stumbles over EXACT that guy and again not only that she had to ask for his name and again again again not only that. Owen had to be stupid enough to tell her his real name. Like if he just said "my name is Jeff" or the inquisitor asked the person next to him, or she fought Vader two meters on the right or the fake Jedi didn't lose the thing or Organa had some brain left, the whole finale would break.

I never understood how people thought any of these were plot holes if they gave it three seconds of thought. I really think people just WANT to find plot holes so they have more reason to hate Disney's Star Wars content. Or just hate on Star Wars in general as some of these things are strictly about the original movies. Like the one about Leia remembering her mother. Since the prequels came out I never thought it was a plot hole even though her mother died right after child birth. We're talking about Force using wizards who can see the future and past in their heads. Sure, she didn't know what we was doing with the Force at that point but it could easily be mistaken as memories instead of visions. Anakin also had Jedi abilities when he was just podracing as a slave. No plot hole. Not everything has to be 100% spelled out for you for it to make sense. They do that too much in movies/shows already.
