Everytime i rewatch naruto, i learn something new and go into a deeper realization of some moments in the series. Like thinking "i never thought of it like this before". It just gets deeper in time. Kishimoto really poured so much wisdom in this anime.

People who hate on obito for starting a world war for a girl , that is actually understandable why ? If you think of it obito was an orphan and his team was everything he had and think of that theres rin who actually geniunly cared for him and watch out for him , you would ask if he was an orphan why he never mention it ? The reason obito never showed and sadness growing without parents is coz he was meant to be a counterpart to Naruto they both have really high similarities having an optimistic nature and cheerful , but obito went dark due to uchiha curse. If Obito was so desperate to see Rin again, he literally could have made a deal with Kabuto/Orochimaru when they were around. People seem to not realize just how easy it'd be for Obito to actually bring her back. The thing is, he doesn't. At least, not with the way the world is. He probably thinks that the events of the past will replay again and so decided to destroy the very system that put him in hell, to him, to begin with.

In the manga, it was not excessive. And you’re right, if Obito wanted Rin so badly he could have revived her with Edo Tensei, but he doesn't because Rin would just die again by the flaw of the shinobi world.
