I moved to Japan 11 years ago. I was always admiring people who pack and leave, but I was already having a job, a career and so on. Trying to live a “normal life” and I don’t know, one day I told myself: fak, I will be one of these people. So I plan my move, just packed my stuff and moved in Japan, alone. Got rid of my job, my place, everything and I got the best time of my life. Back to my country now, but got married on the way ❤. So what to say… it’s you vs you at this point ;) just allow yourself to do it and, if doesn’t work, just come back. It is alright, don’t worry. Just follow your feelings,it’s ok to follow what you want to do.

My fiancé moved here to Brisbane Australia, from Zimbabwe, 8 yrs ago to study. We met 4 yrs ago and so glad he made that decision because we now have our soulmate and are more in love every day. Southeast QLD is a quickly growing part of Australia and opportunities are around every corner! Highly recommend 🤙🏼

Moved from the U.S. to Germany with my wife on a whim. It's been a struggle at times, other times it's beautiful. All in all, I'm glad we took the leap and wouldn't change anything for the world. We'll be hitting our 3 years here in a couple of months. Take the leap, it's worth it to learn more about yourself outside of your comfort zone. Thanks for all of your videos and keep on pushing.

best thing to do is to try and transplant your life to places that interest you on your search to live somewhere else. try and rent a place for a few weeks and instead of feeling the urge to solely explore, also try to get into your typical routine. Find places that align with the types of things you enjoy and where there is a community of people that you can surround yourself with.

New York is a great place to live, especially Brooklyn. You can find your tribe here and hang around other Nigerians and Black Americans. The cost of living is high but the lifestyle is fantastic.

Since your job is online, you dont have to move wholesale all at once. You can say youre going to move for 3 months or 6 then just reassess at the end, you may decide to stay in where youve moved to or decide to try a new place or even to move back to London. Having a remote/online job gives you immense flexibility. Use it!!!!

Just moved to Dubai about a month ago now. All the fears you said re building new routines, making new friends are very valid (and tbh I probably under estimated them before I left). Yes it's a challenge to change your entire life but in that you will learn more about yourself and discover things about yourself that may not have had the opportunity to come out in your old environment. Similarly you will find like minded people who are doing the same. But if you have the desire to move there is a reason and what I realised whilst I was getting ready to move was that a lot of people have regret that they didn't move to that place when they had the freedom and flexibility. Worst case scenario you pack up and go and don't like it, you go back home. There's no such thing as a bad experience, just an experience and that's literally what life is all about.. You can always dip your toe and start with extended trips if you're not ready to dive all the way in.

Hey Obi! The only advice I can give you is to be where your heart feels most at home. You've done some traveling abroad, so take what you've learned from those experiences to see what resonates. And if you're not ready, then that's okay too. Only you will know when the time is right to move on.

I moved to South Korea alone to teach English 2 years ago. My first year doing it was incredible and I loved every minute. In my second year, I've realised it's really not for me anymore, there are a lot of reasons (none of them terrible), but I know it's time for me to go back home. Home will always be there. You can always go back, but if you never try, you'll never know. Sure, it'll be a pain in the arse, but if it's something you really want, go for it. Living abroad in a country that's completely new is challenging for sure and it makes you grow in ways you never expect. At times, it will feel like you're making a huge mistake, but that will pass. Even if, like me, you decide to change your mind, there's no shame in that, and you can always move again. Also, I've read Norweigan Wood and Kafka on the shore and enjoyed both! They're great reads.

Hey Obi, I moved to London from Australia without having a single friend in the city. I think it takes a good 6 months to feel 'settled'. I always told myself was if I didn't like it, I can just come back. It is hard but I've grown so much having to build my life up from scratch. But I think I am the most myself I have ever been and aligned myself with wonderful people. I have confidence I can take these learnings wherever I may move to in future! 🤗💗 But post break up if you're feeling a bit lost I recommend doing an adventure trip! I just got back from Peru, spent some nights in Amazon and did the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. I'd highly recommend a trip like this, there's barely any signal, you're surrounded by beautiful nature and you are focused on the present moment ❤️

Hey Obi, I moved several times throughout Europe. Always driven by following career opportunities. But the last move (to Italy) was a concious decision after having understood what is important to me. Moving to another country and starting from scratch is always a challenge. But it's also an opportunity to grow. Even if you decide after a few weeks/months that it's not right for you. You learn and you gain experience. As someone else mentioned you can always test the water first and stay somewhere for a month or so. In Europe it's pretty straight forward, not having to worry about visas etc.

There will always be someone that do better than us but also worst … and it’s very unfair to compare ourselves to other ppl cause you have no idea of their background and especially real life and not what you see online! Don’t do that yourself Obi! You achieved a lot and you inspire a lot of ppl💜 And I think Spain will be a good place to move to ..at least for me it worked very well.. I feel you on everything you said, being alone and not being attached to anything … don’t be scared if hear that call just go for it! You will be fine!

The mind won’t present anything to you unless you are ready to handle it 😉 Anddd the fact that it’s getting louder and louder is interesting. I moved from NYC to MIA without knowing anyone (not a diff country but it felt like it) and honestly it was the best decision I could have made. I felt like my life was so stagnant at the time and needed a change. It was so worth it. Alsoooo.. we would love to have you in NYC! I’m sure you have subscribers from all over the world you can always do a workout meet up and meet your subscribers who might turn into some friends 😃

I moved to New Jersey at just 14 years old to study abroad and 10 years later I am still here lol. Just like you, although at a very young age, I just had a strong feeling to just leave... I grew in Paris and I just got tired of being there but it was so hard to explain because everything was going well for me: lots a friends, had gotten accepted to my dream high school, my family... But it was the best decision I could've made for myself. It was hard and I definitely was out of my comfort zone but I learned sooooo much and grown to be the person I am today. Once I graduate from grad school I plan on moving to Switzerland and start "over" there :) If you two have this strong sense to just pack it and leave... do it!

Yeah I have made some mistakes with moving abroad. All I would say is think about all the good things about London first, evaluate but definitely if it's been a thought for a while and you want to then go for it, travel light in terms of what you bring with you, don't be scared of it maybe not working out and coming back, I would think asia would be the best experience, Vietnam, Thailand, Korea or back to Japan. Bro you are so cool and have reached some really nice point in life try be grateful and happy ❤

I haven't done it, but my friend just moved to Germany from Canada. He didn't seem to really think about it a lot. He just had the simple goal of wanting to travel Europe and he went for it. Maybe what helped him out mentally was that he set a time limit of 2 years to live in Germany after which he can come back home. Who knows, if he enjoys it, he may stay there for good.

It’s good to see you enjoying yourself and still finding the joy in the things that bring you happiness in the midst of “still not having everything together”…low key feel like ALL OF US including those top influencers don’t all have it all together either. I feel like we’re always evolving, growing and expanding and the beautiful thing is that there isn’t ONE WAY how we should live our life, everything is figure-out-able! And I feel like whatever you feel called to do! We will be cheering you on every single step of the way, and you will continue to thrive Obi!!

I really appreciate your candor. It's funny to always hear you say things similar to what many of us feel because from the outside looking in, it would seem like you are the influencer who has it all figured out. But it really humanizes you Obi. Really love your channel. I know some people when they pick up and leave they do it through those like work-exchange programs like Plan My Gap Year or WWOF. But I'm sure there are a million ways to do it. You just have to give yourself grace. I am in the middle of moving across the world for work. Moving from the US to France and the idea of it is terrifying to me. Because I don't speak the language. And everything is going to be completely new. But I am trying to take it a day at a time. That's all we can do sometimes man. Love and light to you brother. ✌🏾

Do it! I have now 1 year in Rome and I’m from Colombia. I’m far from home, also hard for me to make friends, to adapt, this is the most challenging and beautiful experience I’ve ever experienced. Is great to try and see how it goes, I have learn to also appreciate my time alone and I’m also happy to have new friends and new jobs. In 10 years you will think back and feel grateful for choosing that decision.

Obi-Brillant video. I totally understand your plight about moving away from London. I think currently a lot of people are thinking the same. I personally didn’t move. Still a London bod. But a lot changed for me in the last 14 years. I got married, brought a house and had kids. The urge to move became greater after the children were born. London, can be overwhelming and daunting at the best of times. But I’ll say this, I’m going to see how things pan out. Btw. COYS.

I moved from Beirut to Dubai and then to London. 1st move was due to a job, it was a bit hard in the beginning but once I found an appt and got my bank account up and running (this is a bit annoying to do in Dubai) it was super easy. Dubai is very convenient. Then move to London was easier! having experienced a move before, I managed to fit in quickly in London. Again came to do my MSc and Im still living in London now but working. I had friends in both cities but found it a bit easier to make friends in Dubai. London isn't as convenient but still pretty easy as long as you are willing to pay for the stuff

I turned 30 this year and had the exact same crisis. I have a good paying career which I’ve done for 13 years now but the qualifications I have don’t travel well outside the anglophone world so I’m currently starting an apprenticeship on £13k a year in the hope that I can move to France in the next few years. It’s really scary but with only one shot at life, taking the risk seems a no brainer. I think you’ll regret not giving a move to a new country a shot

Firstly you have to get over the breakup hump.. once you are sure you are over that you then strategise.. if you have a regular source of online income or have the possibility to work remotely, there are no ends to the possibility..But remember Britain is not part of the EU so it might make it a little more complicated but not impossible, you just need to have a plan for where ever you decide to live.. life moves on pretty quickly in a city like London so if you're not 100% sure on your move keep its good to keep your onion contacts. maybe try short stints till you find your way and understand the system and laws of such country.. Moved from London myself almost 30years ago and never regretted it..

9 years ago I moved to Asia for a new job. I then moved to Africa for another job opportunity after living and working in Asia for 6 years. My contract ended in July (Africa) and I wasn't happy with renewing it. I also felt super overwhelmed. So I'm on my first sabbatical in Asia. Oh the moves have been scary, but I've taken my common sense with me. Before I left in July, I researched the places I wanted to start my sabbatical, where the farmer's markets were, good gyms, cycling paths, and the beach etc. It's scarier to stay and keep wondering what it would be like to take the leap. As someone said below, you can always return to London. Go for it! I also packed my road bike and bought it with me🚴‍♂

Hi Obi, i'm one of those people who moved across the world (from Mexico to Seychelles but i'm originally from Slovenia) almost 10 years ago. I was (am) very adventurous person and deciding to leave everything behind and just start again from scratch is not for the weak. When i came to Seychelles i knew only one person, had no family here, no job, no real friends, didn't know the culture .... so it was hard but at the same time i loved the idea of new beginning. And if i didn't go, i would always ask myself WHAT IF ..... So i just decided that I simply HAVE TO GO. So, i slowly integrated myself into their culture, i opened my own fitness business, got married and build my own family here. The hardest part of the whole big move and transition was and it still is: finding true friends. After all those years, i still have almost zero true friends and isolation and loneliness sometimes hit hard. I really get along with other expats but the problem is, they never stay for a long time (usually max 2 years on working visa). My best friends will always be the one i have in Slovenia. I advise you to just go where your heart desires and take a leap of faith. Usually we grow the most when we put ourselves in challenging situations. I'm sure you will find your way when you reach new destination ❤ Regards, Maya from Seychelles

I've moved countries 3 times. I'm not gonna BS you and say starting over is great -- it isn't, it sucks --, but it does get a little bit easier every time. As far as putting/keeping a community together goes, there's nothing terribly obscure or complicated about it: figure out your routine, be polite to the people who share that lifestyle with you, and then sooner rather than later you'll be friends. The tricky part is just keeping the narrative of your life together; I forget a lot about myself... and sometimes it's very difficult not to be around people who know me well. You wanna make sure you know yourself very well and that you'll befriend the right people, otherwise it can be pretty miserable. Obviously, it should go without saying, you also wanna make sure you speak the local language of wherever you're going and that you have sound finances.

It rains more than in the UK tho. Definitely not ideal for an outdoorsy person.

I don't think so. Replying is putting yourself out there and it's a lot of pressure.

@@cherb3145 Well!!! Putting parts of your life every week on the internet is already putting yourself out there. Might as well go all in and interact with your audience.

@@Zenny89 Yes, he shows 'parts' of his life, what he wants to show, not all. And he decides not to do the part where he interacts with his subscribers. What can you do. It's his choice.

Okay, but as much as you travel, don't you ever wonder if the places you visit might be places you can see yourself living? While you're single, try a place out for a year. Make a short list of places where you'd like to live and see if you can commit to renting a space for six months at a time until you find your place. I sense you like stability and routine but, the only way you'll know where you want to be is to give these places a test run. Don't be afraid to try life on for size Obie---life is short! 🤎🤎🤎
