@Slimzie Maygen "Change the value of Pi to suit your needs and the task is completed." Why didn't we think of that before? So we could just change the value of 3 if we need to. Or 10. Or 1. Why, there's a whole new mathematics out there!!! Fred

To say Boole "influenced what we do now with computers" is something of a huge understatement. Boolean logic is at the very foundation of how digital computers function and there's absolutely no sign that it will change any time soon.

This guy is AWESOME! Calcutta in the mid 1800's. Imagine someone this motivated today. Charles Hudson (active 1825-1836) British civil servant based in India. The Calcutta Monthly Journal and General Register for 1836 notes a functionary of that name as ‘head uncovenanted assistant in the Office of the Civil Auditor.’ Hudson sent several letters and papers to Thomas Young at the Royal Society in the period 1825-1830 mainly on inventions and his business address is given as ‘at the Accountant General’s Office’ None of these papers were published, but are preserved in the archives as AP/12/11-13. Hudson published his ideas independently as A new and demonstrative solution of the geometric quadrature of the circle and of the geometric mean… by Charles Hudson, of Calcutta (Calcutta, printed by Andrew D'Souza, c.1831).

If I had to guess, using what someone said (u & v possibly being interchangeable) and the fact that phonetically arr is essentially the same as are (pirate speak lol) this becomes “Beware of this be are who is sent as a spy over you” I’m not to sure about the “this be are who” since it doesn’t make much sense (maybe it’s supposed to be something referencing the reader being a spy?) but the last part definitely makes sense.

I've been watching this channel for a while now. Seen most videos at least twice. I love it. But something has just suddenly struck me about it. (Call me slow if you want.) No music. Now I've finally noticed it, I just have to comment on how much better that makes this channel IMO. So many popularization of [x] channels think that adding music (usually at completely unnecessary volume and badly mixed) make things more accessible and entertaining. You seem to have taken the approach that the _subject_ should be the interesting part. And you are completely right; it is. And with nothing to distract from it, the subject shines. The fact that it's taken me months to even notice there was no music possibly proves the point; it is _not_ needed if the content holds the viewers attention. GJ.

The dots on the cypher say: "Beware of this bear r who is sent as a spy ouer you" ...huh, I just noticed that there's no "V" in the letters at the top, IDK if that's because they didn't use "v" back then or just to save some space, but I guess that is supposed to say "over"...and the extra "r" might just be a mistake, IDK Now that I think of it, the message is reminiscent of mccarthyism during the Cold War when Americans thought that Soviets (the bear is the national animal of Russia) were spying on them...except that this was made 250 years before so...interesting
