Torque spec for injector hold down bolts is 10 inch pounds. Basically hand tight. Always good to retorque after you put a few miles on the new injectors. Also, glad you mentioned the hydro locking, I dealt with that too. Didn’t have anyone to tell me lol

I bought a new set of heads with my injectors, so I didn’t check lash. Hydro lock wasn’t so bad, it’s just a solid and firm bump that is audible, and it’s obviously keeps the motor from cranking. I just popped my injectors out real quick, cranked a few rotations out, and she was clear and ready to go. Just be ready for the prime up period when it’s all back together, it’ll act like a hard cold cold cold start.

No it’s not. It’s 120 inch pounds. Which is about 10 ft-lbs

I'm currently replacing the passenger side glow plugs. I found it easier to remove the last bolt from the valve cover near the firewall, by going underneath the truck. I used a 1/4 inch drive racket with 1/2 inch quarter inch drive socket. Just my opinion. Frank

For the back passenger valve cover bolt, you can just use a deep well 13mm on a 1/4 inch ratchet. Love your videos man! I'm in Yuma doing 250/100's today along with headstuds, springs, and push rods!

@@blowingdiesel wow is all I can say! This thing moves now, but I need a clutch so I can see what the higher tunes are like. Even the economy tune slips the clutch past 1/2 throttle. Mines a single cab manual too.
@rossvanluven65335 жыл бұрын
@@blowingdiesel you definitely sacrifice useful space, but I love the look too much! I ordered a Southend dual disk clutch on Monday, hopefully that holds up, I really want to try the hot tunes!

@@blowingdiesel I went with the 650 horsepower street dual disk. It's definitely Overkill, but it's the same price as the 550 horsepower clutch. When it gets delivered and I install it I'll try to let you know what I think.

Thanks for explaining things at a snails pace and giving the extra tidbits to know along the way. Hey I wanted to ask you is it best to drain the oil prior to taking the injectors out? I'm starting my injector pull project very soon. Thanks again.

Does it matter which cylinder the injectors are going in ? I seen no difference in the injectors and their cup size and I want to be sure before I finish the other side and get ready to start it

I wish had watch your video as well as all the other ones I watch. I didn't take out the glow plugs, or turned the harmonic balancer. I replaced the injector cups, after putting everything back in it's place. I tried to turn the truck on. It sounded like it locked up. So what damage do you think I just caused, what do I need to do next? Thank in advance.
@blowingdiesel4 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that brother I would start by taking your valve covers back off and taking your glow plugs out so you can drain the cylinders by turning the engine over by hand once it spins freely you can put everything back together and try to start it or take it to a shop to get it looked at.

Hey man, I have no idea if you’ll see this but I’ll give it a shot. I’m looking into getting an obs and trying to build to 500hp. I’m no crazy mechanically inclined but can do my own work, just don’t know everything. Is there anything that I should watch out for or make sure I do when I build it? I.e. what brands for parts or better ways to do certain installs or parts that should be upgraded/built if I go for 500hp. Thank you for posting all these videos they are helping a ton

@@blowingdiesel yeah at first i tried 3/8 short with a wobble, then i started feeling around back there and was like wtf there isnt any room, so then i grabbed the ¼ drive and ujoint and it popped right out really weird how low of torque they are for the size, ima use threadlocker on them when i get them all re-installed, i always have bad luck with valve covers so i dont want any more oil leaks than normal for the diesel lolol!

yeah... disaster struck tonight... putting the last side springs in... and it's WAY off... needed .190 of shims to come out right, but at that much shim it's now in coil bind when trying to open... valve guide is ovaled and leaking exhaust gas and boost, the seal is melted... so the head has to come off to get new guides installed... and I thought I was close to being able to get it running again T.T
