Thank you for making your own repair brackets. I did this exact same thing 15+ years ago ... long before these OBS parts sellers were a thing. I'm happy that you're not a typical OBS KZbinr, buying their overpriced products and parroting how great they are. The OBS community has a lot of great people, but sadly it has a lot of money grubbin' opportunists taking advantage of people new to the OBS world.

Hey Cody, you're doing a great job with your how-to's! I'm 70, owned and driven a lot of Fords over the years, and your approach to keeping your great OBS Ford on the road is smart, realistic and the way to do it. It's how I've kept my 1996 F150 Eddie Bauer looking and running great. Thanks for what you are doing. All the best to you!

Awesome step by step video! You are very creative in your solutions. I just picked up a 1994 Ford F-150 for my son and it needs quite a lot of interior TLC to get in decent looking shape. The dashpad and doorpanels are the number 1 & 2 issues I'm going to resolve first.

Nice job. For those little cracks in the abs plastic of the dashboard, a little acetone goes a long way. The repair will be invisible because you not adding any new material just reflowing the abs a little. When you overlay metal and rivet or bolt it together, try applying body adhesive or simply some metal impregnated epoxy between the layers. It keeps out moisture and distributes the load more evenly for a solid feel for years to come.

My reply to their, "why don't you get a NEW car?!" comments was always, "Because, I can live in her if I had to!". Not bad at all! If you need to lubricate door hinges, handles or other spring/lock mechanisms, give fluid film a try. It's pretty reasonable in an aerosol can. It can be messy though, so watch where you spray it!

I also now have an 1987 Ford F-250 that is fairly nice too. I'm work'n on the Tranny its not in the best shape. I seen your video on the Fire Extinguishers and I Subed & Liked your video's. Thank you sir! It’s definitely been a work in progress, but I’ve had a lot of fun so far. That’s amazing you’ve got a pristine Lightening! First gen Lightnings are becoming more rare by the day, and the fact it’s got low miles makes it that much cooler. Since you’ve enjoyed my OBS restoration so far I’d highly recommend you check out my KZbin friend “3rd Coast OBS” down in Texas who’s actually restoring a first gen Lightning on his channel. You can find him down in the description of all my videos. Thanks again for the kind words, and support I sure do appreciate it.😀👍 BTW that’s interesting about what you said about the freeze plugs on the top of the transmission. I never thought of that before. I have always heard they were holes left from the casting, and Ford just put cheap plugs to seal them up. However that being said if they’re there to release pressure that’s gonna be a problem...🤣

You'll find that CA glues are not well formulated to work on plastics. Stuff might stick a little, but fails easily. Even a lot of two part epoxies don't bond well with plastics. There are some good adhesives for plastic (polymers), finding a universal one is a challenge. Nice repair with the hurricane clip.
