For the first case, you could also use MPC-BE. Open the input device (webcam) on it and hide the window frame by pressing 1.

You could probably use the vertical add on for OBS to record your web cam, 2 separate videos.

@@TechnicallyTrent I haven't. you could try a move transition add on, and move your web cam around with a hot key, I have stream decks, I use. The good with the vert, is you can use it for shorts, set it up to record :59 and then use that clip to promote your video, vert is the future I think, people are tired of holding their phones horizontal

"Display capture!" - so that's how you do it🙈. Been using a Panasonic S5 to record video and Quick Time for the screen recordings and syncing with Voice Sync in Davinci. Just could not figure out where the screen record option was in OBS - now I know. Perfect timing, thanks👍

The "Sprite MOd". That's smart! A trick I never thought about and it's so simple :-D I did install a plugin that records also the sources separately. However this is also a great solution.

Hi, I agree it can be tough on Davinci Resolve at first. But have you tried creating proxy media? I do that for all my videos and performance improves dramatically. You can right-click on a file in the Media Pool and choose "Generate Proxy Media". Then, above your viewer, make sure you click the dropdown to choose "Prefer Proxies". You can see additional settings in File -> Project Settings -> Master Settings and check out the "Optimized Media and Render Cache". When you render your project, it will use your high res files. I delete the proxies after I finish my project. Hope this helps!

Hi @Aussiecakes! My guess would be that there is something in the Settings -> Output -> Recording section that is not correct. You can try comparing it to your profile that works. You can also duplicate your profile that works and modify that to create a new profile. Hope this helps!

@@TechnicallyTrent Thanks for the reply again, I tried duplicating my main profile that works and it still crashes. In the end it was because I was running Obs as Administrator, not sure why that caused the crash. So all working fine now. Thanks again Subbed as well!

Okay so ive done this b4 n it works but the only issue is that my game footage is very laggy so what am i doing wrong ?

Hi @ClutchxChaosx, sorry to hear it is lagging. If you record the game by itself does it record correctly? It could simply be too much for your PC to handle.

@ i never tried recording just the game footage in that quality but it most likely is the pc im using a labtop even tho its windows i7 n i dont have nvidia as my encoder as well

@@ClutchxChaosx Got it. I'd recommend just trying the game footage to start with and see if your PC can handle that. If it can, then you can try to add in more thing (ex: webcam). If not, then you know it's a PC limitation. Good luck!

do you have to record the whole screen? I was wondering if it possible to record two different open windows at the same time on one screen, so each open window would be a seperate recording when done, I hope that makes sense

Hi @rogerwines6947, you can just record a window if you like. When you add a Source, choose "Window Capture" and you can add multiple windows and use the method I describe. They will go to the same video file, but you can crop them apart when editing. I should note that I have seen some external plugins that can actually output to multiple video files simultaneously, but they seemed more complicated than I wanted to deal with and i think performance can also be an issue. Under Audio Mixer, click on the three dots for any of the audio sources, then Advanced Audio Properties, then select only the tracks you want the different sources to be in. Then from OBS settings, output, make sure to select as many audio sources as you need.

Hi @TreJackson-n9s! You don't need 2 monitors, although it does make it easier to deal with. I like to have OBS running on my second monitor. But you can have a setup with just 1 monitor and keep OBS minimized.
