Hi Dave, I'm new to the channel & enjoying it so far. I have an RR & found my optimum setting is Sport mode with suspension set on comfort. (90kg rider). And I've fitted a Powerbronze double bubble screen & the wind protection is much improved. Addicted to thing!!! At 55 I don't find it uncomfortable once out on the open road. Such a beautiful bike & people are picking these up for under £15k new now.

Mine arrives next week. I'm 70kg. Be interesting to see what the suspension is like. As every triumph I've ever had, has been incredibly firm....saying that. I don't ride a bike to feel like I'm a passenger in a range rover. But looking forward to the electronic suspension

Exactly! The 955i Speed Triple was a Daytona 955i with the fairings removed, but the engine was detuned to bring the max 72lbft of torque in at a lower engine rev. You rode the torque, no need to redline it. Similar with the Speed Triple 1050i. These Speed Triples were a sporty road machine that could handle a track day. As far as I know that was the concept. This new Speed Triple 1200RS and RR should have fairings added and made a Daytona! They are not Speed Triples in the true sense of the concept, ultra stiff suspension, revvy engine and track focused. Numerous well known reviewers have stated if you are not into track days buy another machine and not the Speed Triple 1200RS! I understand Triumph are trying to match competition with Super Nakeds but these new Speed Triples will be a niche market, previous Speed Triple owners are not interested including me!! We'll keep our Speed Triple 955i's and 1050i's thank you! The 180bhp and 92lbft of torque on British clogged and bumpy roads is laughable too. Not to mention the prices - 11.6k more than what I paid for a new Speed Triple.... Forget it!

Headlights and sparkplugs, the only electric devices needed on a bike. And even then they don't always work on mine and I still can't cancel the indicators after nearly 40 years, then I can find the switch without pressing the horn. The gizmos on modern bikes would be the death of me Quality video once again! though The "bends" are so good that I bought a house on them and now perversely take the "back road" instead to save on tyres and fuel. As far as testing roads go, the "bends" are full of pot holes, funny cambers, tightening blind bends, first gear nonsense, tractor poo, wet leaves, and ditches just waiting to be filled with unwary bikers, yet still an absolute joy when the mood takes you.

@@dougiequick1 just try taking a 916 around the Bucknall/Bardney bends. Your kidneys will bleed. Superb bit of road but riddled with poor surface and occasionally mud dragged from fields by tractors. Oh, and horses. I genuinely moved here for that stretch of road though despite everything I said. From Bardney to Bucknall it's tight and "technical", from Bucknall to Horncastle it's more flowing and open. Turn left at the end of the road, first left at Baumber and take the back road back to Bardney, lovely, fast open road.

Thanks for a great review Dave. As a 6m owner this bike, I agree with some of the niggles. I think in Road mode, the throttle is very plush, but sport mode makes it worse. Wheelie system is very confusing, and getting a hold of the configuration takes time. I also think Euro5 has restricted quite a lot of the fun parts of the bike on lower RPMs. A proper exhaust (e.g SC-project) and a remap will make this bike much more fun (my plan for next year) Definitely not made for city traffic, some part of your body will start hurting soon. Alpine roads, curves, tracks are where this machine machine shines. Bonus: Watch a Speed Triple RR on Nordschleife on full attack mode (not me :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2jcn6KOaMx5ZpI

And really WHY did Triumph feel the need for the extreme ergos? Its obviously NOT a racebike so why on earth did they shove the bars down like that? IMHO the fairing should have been larger higher and not even put clip ons but rather just a flat standard bar ....or clip ons that produce the same effect as a higher bar just so they can say it has clip ons ....seems like nobody in charge of the project really tried to masaage out all the rough edges and make it a truly loveable motorcycle ....hence as much as I love the looks they lost my sale sorry to say ....hoping they fix it for 2024 I dont think it would take much

Great way to come back from Mexico, Wavey. I'm sure the RR niggles can easily be ironed out with a little bit of money, but I was kinda thinking you're more of a Tuono guy on the road? I still think the RR needs a full fairing. Yes I'm that old.

Having done 700 miles now on mine, I’ve taken the plunge and bought a 95nm spring for the rear in the hope it just gives it a little more plush feel, the issue I found was that if you turn the rear down to ‘softest’ all that happens is it removes all the control for the shock so it’s still jarring and yet then looses all the plushness. I’m a heavy guy at 15st so in theory a 100nm probably isn’t miles off but I hope that the 95 just gives me the perfect balance. The street triples come with a 95nm and they feel firm but manageable

Triumph mismatched a few components on some of their bikes recently. I feel its due to think tank design via customer surveys. Who puts top grade brakes on a speed twin with basic suspension? Weird. Who leaves cruise control off their new sport tourer?

that bike is very stable, the powerplant owns plenty of torque ,but the bike in general looks out dated a bit. certainly a great choice as street ride,but i'm guessing the new S1000R,which basically follows the same ideology of the tuono in relation to the RSV4 , IS the best hyper naked out there.i'm eying it in fact lol
@dougiequick1 Жыл бұрын
Why compare a faired bike to a naked s1000r? Compare the non RR version without the fairing street triple naked high bar right? Arguably this one is more in line with the S1000RR except it comes nowhere near close to as good ... And as for outdated looks THAT obviously was the goal here I believe..no? ....too bad Triumph made the ergos ridiculously uncomfortable ....with a higher larger fairing they could have maintained naked comfort and STILL captured the retro cafe "RR" look ...I think anyway darn I might have bought it save for the ergos ...as for naked bikes you can have em all lol.

Think a tuono v4 is better for the road. Triumph made a mistake with the race replica riding position. I hope the new yamaha r9 has a more considered bar height than the r7
@falcodog29172 жыл бұрын
I've owned a Tuono V4 factory and a Speed Triple RR. They are both great but very different. I personally like the Triumph's smooth linear power delivery and light weight. It also rides a bit better than the Tuono and for me, it's more comfortable because the RR riding position makes sense at higher speeds. The Tuono is very aggressive and wicked fun up to about 80mph where the lack of any wind protection makes the Tuono tiring and kind of a bitch. They are equally fast but where the RR is classy and deceptive, the Tuono is sexy, loud and in your face. Personal taste.

It won't wheelie on throttle due to the electronics which are awkward to navigate, but will launch off crests ok
