Marko25Polo The game is beautiful, space battles are exciting, secrets and thargoids are intriguing but the game is an overall chore that feels like your second job. If you have time and patience to play this game then good for you but many people stop playing after a while because they get really tired of doing the same missions over and over with the only differance being the time to complete them.

I started playing this game on the PS4 this week, and I find the tutorial in the game's menu useful for learning how to operate craft, but these videos are excellent for guiding this newbie through the game, so thank you very much. I want to enjoy the game, and surely would, if I didn't have server issues. Although the server issue in this video is lag, mine is that I can't play the game for long without either seeing the message, "Could not connect to transaction server", and finding myself back at the game's menu, or the game crashes and I find myself looking at the PS4's main screen. There seems to be no one particular thing in the game that causes it; it happens when docked or docking and in hyperspace or cruising. I see on Frontier's Elite Dangerous forum that this was an issue on 27 June 2017; that was over two weeks ago, yet it hasn't been fixed. Indeed, players are still posting messages there about it today, and it does appear that the developer's are trying to establish why it's happening, as it's something that "we have still not encountered during our extensive internal testing". Approach orbital cruise at 50 to 55 degrees, low/zero throttle. You will enter glide mode at 2.5Km/s and come out just a few Km away from your target. perfect.

Thanks again, you're basically saving me hours of frustration. For the rest - best way to absorb these videos is to play the game some and then come back and watch it. That way you're much more familiar with what he's saying and the way the game is. For example I did the landing tutorial and can already notice many things I've done wrong but next time it'll be a lot smoother. Still wish the game had a true offline mode but it's still fun solo+online.

I got a Goliath kill mission in Rouch Penal Complex +++ There are system defense forces there too. Tried about 5 or 6 times, but there are just so many missiles, and the never ending police are pretty silly.

While missile racks do make this sort of mission easier, there is more often than not point defense missile installations on bases of this sort. Literally missiles that travel faster than the ones we fire that are used to counter the other missiles. First time I encountered it it reminded me of the "Asteroid" game. Glad to know people are getting into this on PS4. May have to pick up a copy to help teach people everything I learned over the last few years on xbox. Take it easy Ant

thanks for your helpful videos, one problem this newb keeps having is getting stuck in a planets stratosphere. I do what I normally do to take off (get rid of landing gear, point up, throttle up, hit triangle, stars move but I am still on planet), but its like I have parking break on. no doubt I will eventually work out what I am doing wrong.

Yup. 22mil in my bank, and I am one of the old-guard explorers from the beta. My trip to Jaques was like an exodus for me. Took me a month on and off. My brother just got a new joystick, joined me in Elite... 1 day,... one. day. And he has 2 million credits from mission running. Holy cow....!

My advice for new players is traveling through the galaxy: - Keep the arrival time between about 6.1s and 5.8s to travel in supercruize (you can see the digits). - You automatically get to about 6.5s keeping the throttle in 75% (i bound a key in my PC to 75%) in the center of the blue throttle zone. - if the arrival time is greater then 6 secs, put throttle in 100% - if the arrival time is less the 5 seconds and you are far away from the destination (no destination lock) you have to loop arround the destination untill your speed decreeses (loop of shame) - if the arrival time is arround 5 to 6 seconds and you are close to your destination, like 1500Km (that distance depend on the mass of orbited bodies), put throttle in 100% - approach a planet in 35 - 40 degrees of inclination in 75% of throttle

Not sure if it was a staged thing or not but I'm now traveling to a system which is far from where I was gonna get 4 more fabric items but it's been a good time except for that bit. rule of thumb allways make sure whenever you fly a ship make sure you allways have enough credits to rebuy the ship you fly and i can tell you rebuy costs in elite dangerous is alot lower then in eve

I was supposed to kill one Goliath on a planetary base. The base had 4 ships guarding it and if I flew over the base or drove too close I would get the trespassing notice. It would go away if I moved back. I gather if I stay too long, they'd attack. Saw no goliaths until I opened fire on the base. My srv was pulverized in seconds by the defenses and ships. The result wasn't any different when I tried the same in the sidewinder. Can't shut off their defenses because they get upset when I get close. I do not see how it's possible to complete this mission considering all the turret, skimmer and ship fire coming at me. Even in a better ship.

Those Power Down the Installation missions are often stupidly dangerous, totally not worth the money on offer. The Scan the Settlement missions are much easier and more lucrative.

Good to see you helping the new player base Mr Ant... Im on xbox and have 2000 hours in game, but still fun to watch. But God i hope we one day get the option to tell the ship to stay on ground... I think the max range right now is 2000 meters before it takes off. But i would love an option to increase that to lets say 4000 instead... I just hate when i try to land my ship in a good spot, it is gone when i come back... Not only do i have to drive further away from the base, but then call it. Then wait, only to see it land 1.5 km away... God i hate it... We can't have an auto pilot in the game, but for some reason the ship has no problems to fly away when you dont want it to... Oh well many things that dont makes sense to me in the game😄

I really want the Guardiands/Thargoid alien content to add new features or just something to do that isn't a grind. Everything else, besides long term motivation and just gamepla-content stuff, is perfect in this game. Graphics, performance, sound design, UI and game mechanics... Although, being able to save ship part configurations wouldn't hurt, so you can change between a combat and exploration loadout quickly with the same ship

I just grinded High Resource Extraction Sites.. Bought a Viper MK III, Put lasers on it so i didn't have to worry about ammo.. Saved up 15 Mil bought a Vulture.. Went and Alligned with a power and got 750 merits.. Got promotion and grinded High Resource Extraction sites and saved 65 Mil and bought a Fer-De-Lance. Did Engineering on Vulture so they where all ready for FDL lvl 5. Now combat is sorted and working on exploration, trade and passenger ships. Then maybe I'll head out to Colonia and see what all the fuss is about. I Might however stick around and get those Galactic power shields from Aisling Duval after i get the Imperial Hammer from A. Labigny-Duval. Goal is an Imperial Cutter eventually.. But I Might not enjoy the rep grind.

KZbinr The Mighty Jingles found 2 systems one jump apart that had a constant flow of courier missions back and forth to each other. He took the rep reward instead of the cash and was more quickly promoted up to where he needed to be to get the ship he wanted. It can be done, some grinds are easier than others, never give up.

When I started ED I kept the Sidewinder until I'd completely maxed it out, something I suspect few bother doing. It was fun having such a nimble ship which had a bigger sting than might normally be the case. However, it was great to finally move up to a Cobra Mk III. One thing though, I did the same with the Cobra, not only maxing it out but also saving up enough to then by a really good Asp Explorer straight off - with hindsight that was a mistake, it would have been more fun to switch to the Asp much sooner, get the buzz from upgrading it bit by bit.

It's kept fully safe, nothing to worry about. You have to wait 10 seconds to quit the game and then your ship dissapears until you log back on.

Cmdr Zethis The Detailed Surface Scanner doesn't need a button binding. You scan a body the same way.

A low level surface scan can be done using any Discovery Scanner (basic, intermediate, or advanced). Target object, point ship at target, and get close enough for scan to start automatically. Unlike using the Discovery Scanner to scan FOR objects, it works like a Detailed Surface Scanner but for a lower level detailed surface scan. You won't get details like what materials it has, but it will give you the name of the object and where any surface settlements are located. Also less CRs than a full-on Detailed Surface Scanner.

You can also scan the physical Nav Beacon to get system info. Drop in on orange Nav Beacon waypoint seen from SC. Once in normal space at NB, target and point ship at the white Nav Beacon. Wait for scan to complete. You won't be able to make cartographics CRs but you will have the system's info.
