When I was a teenager, I worked at a dry cleaners in Alhambra, CA during the early 1980's. I had a customer that would come in every week to get his suits dry cleaned. He had a heavy European accent, walked with a limp, and appeared very old like in his 80's or 90's. His name was Bela Kiss. I remember him because he was always flirting with me and he was quite the character. Certainly makes me wonder....now. Thanks for the nightmare!!!

Kiss had relatives, this man at the dry cleaners most likely died within the decade considering his age at the time. Its highly likely relatives of Kiss are still alive in Hungary today; if someone was to locate the grave of this Bela Kiss in Alhambra and then get permission to exhume the grave AND get a DNA test to the surviving family members....that could be an important breakthrough in a case over 100 years old!

@TheGreatGodPan6 жыл бұрын
Facebook doesn't like people using anything other than their real names because it's a creepy spy machine, and if it can't spy on you it has no use for you. Anyway, great and well put-together video, one of my favourite serial killer cases as it's quite obscure and overlooked and it's basically impossible to find out more than this information about both Kiss himself and his eventual whereabouts. I read someone in America was certain they saw Kiss at a train station or something, but quite how they'd know that when. as far as I am aware, no photographs were made public of him, I have no idea...

It as part of Hungary back then, now it is Romania; There was a woman who lives there, her name was Marca Rota, she was a witch, who always wandered around with a goat on her shoulders. Everything she looked upon eventually would get sick and or die. One day, she passed in front my gran grandmother house and praised her for a sow's litter she liked, All of them died next day. I can't help thinking of a scenario where there is a man who is a career criminal. Petty theft mostly, but his name is well known to law enforcement. He enlists during the war and it occurs to him that he can get a fresh start after the war by taking the ID from a fallen soldier. He comes across a body and takes the ID of one Bela Kiss. Wouldn't that be a hoot? Out of the frying pan and into the fire! It would make a great Twilight Zone episode.

@obsolete when I was in the Navy in 1990 a shipmate told me a story of his sister running away in the 80's to be with a guy she was younger than her love interest. She slipped out the window when he was younger holding her finger up to her lips whispering shhhhhh! And she was gone.....4 days went by then she called home asked her Mother could she come home. Her Mother said yes! His sister told his mother she could see the family car in the driveway and she was down the street using the phone booth. His mother say in the living room chair and waited.......one of her neighbors seen her and called their house to tell his mother her daughter his sister was walking home...she was so happy....but she never made it home. That was the last time they ever heard from his sister. He was from St. Louis. That story has always stuck with me.....everyone spoke why they joined the military that was his story. And his mother died in that chair waiting on his sister. Shortly thereafter his Father died after in a distracted driving accident looking for her.
@ObsoleteOddity5 жыл бұрын
That's a very sad story my friend. How tragic for the parents to have their hopes built up....and to be waiting for the knock on the door that never came. I wonder if it really was their daughter calling from the phone box? Was someone playing a cruel trick on the family? or had the girl been murdered and the killer found someone who sounded like her to make the call. Only God knows.

The true Kiss of death. Serial killers usually can't stop. I wonder if he went on to kill with his new identity, eventually becoming notorious again, and perhaps getting caught this time, with no connection to his old identity ever being made.

Falafelzebub's Den of Vegan Iniquity That is probably what he did. But I'd like to think that one of his would be victoms may have fought back & killed the sickco. But even if he didn't get caught while here on earth- after he died I believe he had to face God or maybe he went Stright to hell. This 1 mean guy had a heart attack while sitting at his desk & had a near death experience. He said he was tied to his desk & his office wall opened up & his chair slowly went to the edge. He could see flames & hear screams. He begged God & stated if he was given another chance he would change his life. He's now a minister.

kickasses you sound like me! I hadn't eaten in a few days and didn't want to overdo it so I sat here with my waffle fries nice and hot, refreshed my green iced tea and clicked the video! I probably should have had tea and toast as well as it was 2 a.m. here. Oh well I've lived this long without dying hahaha!

It could be someone he knows in real life who he pissed off, like an ex-girlfriend. More likely it is some crazy person online who doesn't like his channel for whatever reason.

Great video! And also great research! Loved the pictures, i used to to school in cinkonta, you can still recognise some of the buildings, one of them is a pharmacy now, also the tramstation looks exatly the same, not much changed there... Some peolpe knew about bela kiss at school, and we discuossed it every now and then, he actually made the tin roofing of the church right in front of the school

Thank you Oddie, for a truly creepy Halloween tale! I am a new Oddite (I hope that I have spelled that correctly) and your stories have become a new spooky tradition in my house, not only on Halloween, but whenever I want to tuck myself tightly under my covers with no lights on except the eerie glow of Oddies creepy KZbin videos giving me a good dose of fright before I slip into my nightly slumber. Needless to say, you have given me quiet a few good frights and not just on Halloween. Happy Halloween Oddie!!!!💕🎃

He got away with it?! Wow. Thank God that today we have DNA...
@johnlewis38914 жыл бұрын
I don't think dna would have helped much in the case of Bela Kiss. DNA is best used when dealing with an unknown offender. A detective arrives at a crime scene, discovers mysterious DNA underneath the victim's nails. He runs the dna through the database and finds a match. Now the detective has a name and a suspect. However, in this case, the killer's name was immediately known. Discovering his whereabouts was the issue. The only way that dna could have been useful is if Bela had been arrested for another crime and his dna taken, or if the police recognized him and he was compelled to take a test. DNA would have been useful in identifying the victims though,

Another masterpiece! Each of your narrations compliment these stories ten fold and I'm finding that even stories I've heard before seem brand new and almost personal. Your truly gifted and your concern that your listeners are satisfied is another amazing quailty that keeps me searching for more of your stories I may have, somehow, missed. Many thanks!

Your presentation was much more informative, +( of course), more interesting than Wikipedias, that`s for sure .The maggots at 8:10 were a nice touch, btw! Those must have been the real bodies, because they WERE pretty well preserved .I also got the distinct feeling that housekeeper knew much more than was assumed- she seemed like she had done her own investigation before the police even got there. Happy Halloween, Oddie!
