Hey Nick, I am loving your shorts recently. I am suffering from ROCD but I have come a long way on my own. I have learned so much thanks to the OCD Recovery channel. Also thanks for the humor. Sometimes you also need to laugh a bit about how silly OCD actually is. My question is: which email do I write to when I want to contact you (regarding personal coaching)? Kind regards, Hanna

The thing that helped me with my tinnitus is at night when it’s bad, is instead of trying to focus on something else, just focus on the tinnitus itself. And usually just like when you try to focus on breathing or anything else, your mind gets bored of it eventually and you realize you don’t notice it after a while. Sometimes it comes back again when you notice but eventually I usually am able to fall asleep. I hate having it but this has helped me the most so far

I really understand all that u said here,but my mind is always bombarded with continuous never-ending conflicting and doubting thoughts whenever i read about making perspective changes and books you guys mentioned about acceptance It's like that OCD knows that by applying these tools in ofcourse a "state of being" way,it will no longer be able to make me feel that huge levels of chronic suffering anymore How do I get over this because it's almost automatic

The best thing to do is just start reading! OCD will do everything it can to stop you from making progress towards recovery.

I understand this and it makes sense but the part that gets me and I struggle with is being able to distinguish intuition from fear based OCD thoughts. Like my mind will come up with these thoughts of “what if” but it feels like fate sometimes and like a “sign” to do that thing and then I’ll do it and then have thoughts and fear of “oh crap did I do it again? What if this was the wrong choice? But it feels like the right choice…I think” So it feels like I constantly can’t really trust myself with anything and that eventually my OCD will ruin things for me again, like relationships, jobs, family matters, life choices, etc

Thanks for the videos the have given me a little hope and taken a bit a my guilt in regard to thoughts are just thoughts and ruminatilon. I have never heard of core beliefs in relation to ocd and have done ERP. I have still constant thoughts and have gone into a depressive episode. So thanks. For a little renewed hope. Are there any free ressources on how I Can work on the core beliefs?

Hey Nick, this question is geared more towards sleep which I know you just did a video on pretty recently, I have the fear of not getting enough sleep, so as you know the rumination is automatic when I go to bed, it terms of wearing it like an uncomfortable coat, do you basically just let yourself be afraid of not getting enough sleep until you aren’t afraid anymore? Almost as if not being afraid anymore just comes naturally?
@aguywhohikes1271
@aguywhohikes1271 Жыл бұрын
Hey Kyle! So absolutely, getting comfortable with not needing sleep whilst your brain ruminates is key. In time we slowly break down the fears surround not getting good sleep and or not sleeping enough.

Is it right, that the best way to deal with rumination is distraction? And is the only way to deal with OCD to ignore all this intrusive OCD-shit , do the oppostite of what the OCD tells you and follow your own REAL will?

I know i had ROCD but Is it posible that the symptom its just a thought of not being present while doing stuff with your partner? like rumination and not even knowing "why? or what the thought is really about". i used to have doubts, urges.....but then just this thought only. Constant voice that didn't let me be present not even sure what it said... maybe its rumintation itself. Just having a thought that doesn't let you be present and its stuck in your mind. not even knowing what the thought is about ,,, but thinking that something is not right all the time,,, anxiety while being with your partner.....constant noise in your head. Been aware that you are going to think or have thoughts is Hyperawaresness ocd about thinking?? or is just another part of ROCD?? i gues many people with rocd experience this right? just knowing that you will think and not be present while on doing things with your partner. i guess all types of ocd make you aware that you are going to think. The term Hyperawarenss ocd confused me a lot.. making me feel as if i had that and not rocd, however im sure i had rocd. And ofcourse i would be aware that i was going to think about thoughts. Also i guess ocd is ocd. Thanks in advance. (i ended my relatioinship because other things besides ocd, but just want to understand myself better)

Hello nick as we have talked earlier i am very hyperaware of my chewing and swallowing of food i always give attention to it i accepted it that as acceptance but now also i give too much attention to it and i fear also and my breathing becomes very hard chest and neck muscles becomes very tight i cant eat much food because of it what should i do i got struck in this cycle it happens everyday from the past 3 months.
@aguywhohikes1271
@aguywhohikes1271 Жыл бұрын
Hey Akanksha, The most important thing here is to make sure we are keeping up with eating no matter how tough it may feel, that's first and foremost. Also remember the fears that keep the cycle alive and why it's so important to break down the fear of never getting better.

hi , i think there is a difference between active rumination like to solve a problem or a worst case. thats compulsive. and on the other hand there are intrusive thoughts or images which arises just up in the mind. the y coming from the worst case scenario and you cant do nothing about it. unless you accept the worst case. i think its just two different things
