Most people don’t understand shimano as a company. This is designed for one purpose, jigging for pelagic fish and to manipulate the jig Speed. Not for versatility for trolling or any other fishing technique.

Let us know when you come out with an identical conventional reel for bait casting because here in America some use jigs but most mainly use live or cut bait and this real looks great but for $500 and only for jigging I'm going to pass

It's for people who drop in deeper water, all day. That much line wears your thumb out after a while. Here in Japan the waters are extremely deep. Its normal to be jigging in 800 to 1,500 feet of water. I doubt this little 2000 OJ can reach 1,500 though. Some even push deeper into the 2k ft mark for larger exotics like Oni Kasago.
