There's a reason Catherine Zeta-Jones is in this movie, and why there's an emphasis on acrobatics with lasers... The answers are in the movie Entrapment. I'll be glad to sponsor that reaction 😁

Only if combined with the "Thomas Crown Affair" remake. A movie about a museum heist starring Pierse Brosnan, came out same year as Entrapment. Having a deja vu moment now?

The issue I have with oceans 12 is that almost everything you see is irrelevant to the heist. It doesn’t matter. In 11 (and 13) the things you’re seeing are relevant. Not in the way that you think they are at the time, but they still matter to the heist.
@JDP5127

I think that captures my problem as well. It is still a fun film, and I would happily watch it, but it is not my favorite of the trilogy.
@aznthy

Ding Ding Ding, what those other fools praising 12 is not understanding what they are watching, literally nothing mattered since the moment they arrived in Europe, it was not a heist movie and the stuff they did didn't matter to the plot or story, it's just to make the French guy look like a fool which in a 2 hour movie, it is a waste of everyone's time because they were just messing around until the ending.

@Lloyd00
@Lloyd00 6 ай бұрын
You missed the point. This movie is different. It's showing that they're not the best thieves. They're great but there's always someone better. Your connections are just as important as your skills which is what actually makes them the best. It's why people need time with this movie. The entire theme of the movie is about connections. It's not about the heist, which obviously to some is a problem.

This ultimately became my favorite among the three. A large reason is because I really dig the musical score, it's so dope lol. Plot wise this one is definitely less serious and a bit more outrageous, and maybe that's why some people don't prefer it, but I think the dialouge and engagement between team "Ocean" was a lot funnier and a lot more fun since they had already established a bond, so to speak. And I really love the reveal of how they actually stole the egg first. And how the simplicity of that heist contrasted with the complexity of their decoy plan...and even the Night Fox's strategy. And as far fetched as his little dance in the laser field may seem, at least they had the wherewithal to show cut clips of him training for it, in between the scene when the crew was getting pinched.

I think Ocean's Twelve is a grower. I thought it was way worse than Ocean's Elven when I first saw it in theaters but it really grew on me. With this trilogy I kind of reached a state where I watch the movies for the characters, the music and the general coolness. I think Ocean's Twelve offers a lot once you put aside the expectation of a heist movie like the first one. I also think that it's the best one from the perspective of how it was shot. The freeze frame of Brad Pitt jumping out of the window at the beginning, the way Amsterdam is introduced letter by letter, all the different ways Terry Benedict visits the different characters, the insane dancing/break-in scene by Vincent Casel. It's just beautiful to look at. To me it's the most beautiful of the three. I also started to like the whole Julia Roberts gag but that's just me enjoying the actors having fun. I totally see if this kills the immersion for some people. As I said I felt the same way when I first saw it.
@goldboy150
@goldboy150 6 ай бұрын
Totally agree with this. It’s definitely more convoluted than the other two and probably requires a rewatch or two just to fully understand the timeline and little details. I find this the most charming of the three but in some ways it has the advantage over the other two in that it’s got beautiful European cities as backdrops rather than Vegas (where you pretty much film at night like 95% of the time). So visually it’s a lot more appealing. I think it actually fits right in to the franchise. It’s different from the other two but in a really lovely way - it’s more lighthearted and a real delight to watch again and again.

in my opinion, the heists before the egg were just stories, retold by other master thieves. Matsui got hired by the fox, and "the bellagio job" crew made all of it up to mess with him. I really like this movie after a rewatch!

One reason why this movie feels so different to the other two is that is was partly based on a script called "Honor Among Thieves" about two Chinese thieves competing with each other, and the story was adapted to be a "Ocean's" film. If I recall correctly, the original script was meant to be more of an action/comedy, starring someone in like Jackie Chan.

27:01 The thing that's even more ridiculous about this scene, that I didn't notice until a couple years ago, is that he didn't have to go through the field of lasers at all. He could have just walked down either side of the room behind the statues. That's a strike against the effects people for not adding in lasers that cover the whole room, so that his navigation of the lasers would be necessary.

I don't want to use 1,000 words describing it, but I love her look at that part it just makes me laugh. Edit: Also that dude you suspected as being Hagrid (and you're right) was also in Goldeneye. I was first watching and my mind was blown when I realized they were actually the same person. Hagrid was so nice and sweet in the Harry Potter movies, but in Goldeneye he played quite a different role. That huge beard he rocked in H Potter totally disguised him from me and I'd never have made that connection without watching this. Good stuff.

The most famous heist I can think of is the D.B. Cooper case. He high-jacked a plane, took everyone on-board hostage, had it land, received ransom money and enough parachutes for everyone on board, then had the plane take off again and jumped out of the back of it at night, in the rain. Despite an enormous manhunt he was never caught, and only a small amount of the money was recovered when a child found some cash washed up on a beach, something like 15 years later.

So the closest I can get to the master thief is the leader of a group who robbed a bank in France. If I remember correctly they actually tunneled into the bank vault. They welded the door shut so no one could open it, had a picnic and then opened up a bunch of the safety deposit boxes that had a bunch of embarrassing stuff in them and plastered it up in the vault. Before they left they spray painted a taunt on the wall that was along the lines of "Without guns, and without violence." Fast forward a few weeks and the group gets caught. When the leader was in court, he jumped out a window and onto a waiting motorcycle. I'm not sure if he was ever caught again.

14:44 - Master thief advice: Make sure the person(s) you steal from doesn't think anything is missing. Also, check out the Eli Lilly Pharma heist for a fun read - The dudes were caught but, it took a while and they were a solid bunch - No harm or casualties during the heist & to steal from a POS pharma company is a major bonus imo. Thieves working with quiet professionalism. The Bank Job with Jason Statham - good heist movie.

Good to see the younger groups playing the same style as the senior group.

I have seen Oceans 13 only once but its a bit more in the vane scope vice of the oceans 11 (Al pacino is it that one and maybe he dibs in little bit more extencively for the "yelling Pacino" type of acting for his later years that I would like😏)

This movie is a grower. But it’s also really fun to watch and rewatch the music cinematography and the general coolness of all the characters together makes it super fun. I also really like the third movie so I hope you guys make your way to that one as wellholding my breath until you react to oceans 13

George, how can you still be surprised when Simone says her silly quotes at the beginning of the reaction?

To answer a question- Bruce and Julia have been in a couple of movies together. I'll ignore that they were both on Friends, as they weren't in the same episode. But they were both in The Player, both playing themselves, and again in "I'm Still Here" which was a documentary about Joaquin Phoenix. They're also in "The Final Cut" which is cheating as they're both in stock footage. Bizarrely, they're both in a film called "Grand Champion" which is a film about kids participating in stock shows. Roberts had a reason to be in that one, but Willis' involvement seems random.

simplest way to describe the ocean’s trilogy. 11: one for them (studio film) 12: one for me (Soderbergh) 13: one for the fellas (for funsies)

I really think you two need to watch the original Ocean's Eleven(1960). The cast was at it's time period larger than the remake. Five members of the Rat Pack: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop. Angie Dickinson, Richard Conte, Cesar Romero, Patrice Wymore, Akim Tamiroff, and Henry Silva. It includes cameo appearances by Shirley MacLaine, Red Skelton, and George Raft.
