Very interesting, mirrors much of what I've experienced myself since I made the switch (at roughly the same time actually) to mainly fingerpicking. The trigger for me was learning to set up the vibrato bridge effectively and listening to a lot of David Torn! Discovering you and your music helped a lot at a later stage.
