Here in this case choose “parents”. I am assuming that the child has not taken Indian citizenship after birth in Canada. Don’t worry if parents are not in India and just hold passport now with Canada TR or PR

I was born in Canada and then went back to India and stayed there for 18 years on a study permit, but I did not apply for OCI as my high school was completed and I have to return to Canada. To apply for OCI, I needed 3 months of valid visa, but I was left with 2 months, so I was told you can apply from Canada. I checked Parents are not in options. The options are father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, great-grandfather, great-grandmother and self. Hi as per logic the day you get married is the marriage date as in most cases religious ceremonies are recorded at the religious institution by the priest, marriage registration is a step next followed. It is widely accepted however you will be dealing with BLS so speak to them and whomever you speak to record name time and date incase later there is any rejection so that you can write to BLS and CGI

Hi you can apply for OCI immediately on getting the passport. The only challenge with newborn is getting photo. Just speak to professional photo if they can take photo of child in lying position. I could not find photographer who could do this so had to wait for baby’s head to stabilize for photo in sitting position. If you can manage to get the photo all is good

Each Individual submits separate OCI application, You can create online credentials of one person but application will be separate. For example I used my online credential to login to OCI application and all our application was filled here.

I wish I had seen this video before. Came back disappointed today from BLS. The OCI form asks for relatives in India. It has a name with a star asking for a relationship. But there is no separate box for Relationship anymore. In the Current Passport, I wish they had written as "Current Foreign Passport". For the National Identification Document, they must specify "Citizenship Certificate number". I mentioned my Aadhar card! Now, I have to redo the application for the third time!! Hi sorry for late reply. If it is problem with upload. Instead of starting all over again. Note the temp ARN number/ if already submitted ARN number and then on the OCI page you will find reupload photo and separate reupload document section. You can replace the one which you want. It will save time. If this does not work you can fill new application

I have few questions regarding entering name in the oci application 1) according to Indian passport my entire name is entered in given name field and according to my Canadian passport the same is written in surname field so my question is should I enter the name as in Canadian passport and 2)should I include any notarized document stating both are same person? Or should we follow the error in Canadian passport. Now to apply for a new Canadian passport is the only way to correct it. Hi this is unique situation. If I am the official reviewing application this would come to be as inconsistent detail(just my thought). I would get it corrected in my Canadian passport and then apply. Saves time and effort

Also, just a couple more questions. When I put the number in the 'Employer Contact No' on Page II, it didn't show up on the 'Verify Information Page' for some reason. You are still employed with company so choose your profession accordingly and on a piece of paper you can write down that you are on Mat leave. Also call BLS to know if any additional documents are required

Great video, a few points : For self employed , need to upload Certificate of Incorporation and a self employment letter. Question: Who will be attesting the spouse's passport? Is it the applicant or the spouse? Also, the postal application fee is $50+50 in Toronto, is that normal?

Thank you 🙏 that’s correct for self employed. Spouse passport can be self attested by applicant and spouse. Frankly fee is high, you may have to do due diligence and get the breakdown. Service provider for some reason is not forthcoming. I made a video on the same where I got the refund
