Wood cost are outrageous . This is reasonable and engineered to work.
@Quadrajettison Жыл бұрын
stucco or cement siding adds considerable weight to the walls and needs to be engineered to suit. There is no advantage to wood, the galvanised steel is probably more durable. This is a cost-effective build. Cement sheeting is a better insulating material but it is all wrapped in foil-backed insulation anyhow.

Great video. I'm almost retired. Work part-time for a Home Improvement store. Love seeing your orange buckets! I have learned so much more about concrete by watching your videos. I was born in Cork, Ireland, and grew up in SFO, London, Houston, and Norway. At Christmas, we would often go to London. I loved hanging with my uncle and godfather owned a ready-mix batch plant with 18-20 trucks (Lorrys) near the Battersea power station in Central London. While owning the business, he preferred to drive a truck daily. In the 1980s, I spent a couple of days of a two-week Christmas break riding in the passenger seat of his truck at 4 am and learning a ton about the correct mix and pour. The London Street view from the truck's cab (Lorry) was terrific. In most sites in Central London, I had to help get all the job site muck off the truck before we hit the street. I never see that happen elsewhere:) Even though I was 14-16, We finished daily with two Guinness and Pub Grub with all the concrete workers we had poured with earlier in the day. They had such solid Irish accents I could barely understand them:) Great times: He taught me that hard work can be enjoyable. I miss him so much. My mom was one of 9 children, so I have a couple of relatives who are still in the trade in Ireland.

Did they not give you j-channel or some other flashing for around the windows and doors? Maybe it's there I just didn't see. These metal designs are neat. Some use a foam like filter in between the ridge cap and roof valleys to fill that void. I'm amazed how many swear by using just the 10x17 or x20's Harbor Freight or whatever carport portable shed alone and only adding the steel roofing and siding with the self tapping screws. Including in hurricane zones. That's not even the heavier square tube car ports. Though many I've seen do add extra wood or hat channel material for studs and/or purlins and whatever they want for an end look. Nice! Awesome getting some plants growing as well.

Nice building! I just ordered a very Similar building and am doing it myself. I have construction experience but zero concrete experience. Due to lack of finances My plan is to basically just pour perimeter footings and 6” stem walls, construct the building then later on pour the interior slab. Do you think I am able to pour the footings and stem walls all at once? I’ve seen videos where guys will pour footings and then wait for them to set up before pouring the stem wall. My concern is if I pour all at once the wet concrete in footings will push up too high and out on grade from the weight of concrete in stem wall forms?

@@OdellCompleteConcrete thanks, hard to get a price out these companies. From your videos I’m thinking you’re in 315 area code , I grew up in Syracuse and have lived in Rochester for 35 years. Live in a neighborhood and with the inflated property prices I guess I’m stuck here for the duration, so I guess I’ll try to put up a building. Watching your quality work and also Victory’s trying to learn about concrete work, judging if I can do it myself. I’m a machinist with a business in my two car garage and pretty clever but concrete isn’t a one man job. Considering it from all angles ( small sections with a mixer or short loads) it would have to be pumped 100 feet. Pole barn with a slab, foundation with a sill plate…… I don’t know!

Best in the west! I’m personally biased with inspectors, I believe you need to be old enough and have had cut your teeth for years in the trades to then be qualified enough to “inspect”, rather than some millennial trying to tell someone with 40 years experience that they’re wrong. That’s just me tho, as I’ve come across my fair share of shitty young inspectors whom think they know it all. Good video as always!
