This mixture does not present a physical hazard. Refer to the recommendations regarding the other products present on the site. This mixture does not present a health hazard with the exception of possible occupational exposure thresholds (see paragraphs 3 and 8). This mixture does not present an environmental hazard. I've used PUL - but it slips and slows me down. I've used vinyl laminate and while I've learned a few tricks (dry iron, wool setting on my iron, let it cool) the resulting fabric is difficult to turn right side out. I want to experiment with foam batting and can't imagine adding foam and vinyl laminate and actually creating something I can be proud of!. I just saw Odicoat a week ago and am so glad I found your detailed explanation.
@DebbyHunker6 жыл бұрын
I too have had that journey with PUL and vinyl laminate! I’ve made some modifications to deal with the laminate, but still wasn’t totally happy with the results... So far, I’m just thrilled with the results and ease of use!

Hi Debby! Iactually tried it on cork, and I love how it enriched the colors just a bit, and I'm not concerned about the colors fading like I've had happen before.

Cork hah? Please do let us know how it stands up. I got some sheets of cork and find it splits at the curves and maybe this will help. I worked so hard on a wallet and not happy but maybe odicoat will help. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Deby. You'll have to let us know how you think this compares to a vinyl fuse which as we all know can sometimes be finicky to sew. And when you birth it, it gets wrinkled. Let s know how this behaves when you sew it, birth it, and how it holds up. Im gonna pick some up and try it out on something small.

I can tell you, I like it better already! It doesn’t crease or wrinkle, it sews beautifully, and I’m going to continue to use my bag to see how it holds up!

Debby- now that some time has passed are you still happy with the product? Do you know if it would be possible to put it on fabric that has already been fused to fusible fleece?
@DebbyHunker6 жыл бұрын
I used it on a purse and I gave it no special treatment... It was on the floor on my truck and tossed around... As a matter of fact, the only reason I stopped using it was because the zipper gave out (my fault totally). The cotton looked as good as new. I’m looking forward to using it on a wallet or something that I use often, but I expect that it will stand up very well. As for using it on fabric fused to fusible fleece, I don’t think there would be any issue... It might soak up a little extra product on the first application, but I don’t think it will be a problem.

So if your fusing interfacing after with the pretty side of the material showing you would use a press sheet and what about steam how would that apply ?
@DebbyHunker6 жыл бұрын
I put parchment on my ironing board, then the fabric, right side down, then the interfacing, then pressing cloth... Steam does not affect the Odicoat. Once it's set, it's set! The parchment keeps it from sticking to the ironing board, although that's not actually necessary... It kind of sticks, but it doesn't hurt anything either...

Wow looks great Debby going to try some.

Hi Debby, can i use it on Jersey, too?
@DebbyHunker3 жыл бұрын
I would test it first. Make sure you stabilize the jersey before you apply the Odicoat so that you eliminate as much stretch as possible. You will probably find you use a lot of product on the first coat too. I've never tried it, so I can't say for sure that it will work.

I don’t have much experience with modpodge, and none with using it on fabric... From what I do know, it’s a very different product. I think it’s waterbased and Odicoat is more like a silicone. I wouldn’t recommend it.

My pillow discolored and became very dirty looking after a very short time of having applied this product. I tried to wash it but nothing would remove the look. I'm afraid to try it on anything else. I put it on a triangle pillow top I had pieced together. A lot of work and it was ruined.

When using odicoat in a fabric do you still have to fused it of sf101?

Great video Debby! Do you fuse before or after all applications. Also could I use the opportunity to set the odicoat to also fuse simultaneously? Would you use in a heat press with teflon sheet or should I only use an iron? Thanks.
@DebbyHunker6 жыл бұрын
I fused after I applied. I honestly don’t think it would matter what order it was done in. I just happened to do it in that order. It might soak up a bit more product if you have your interfacing fused already, but just for the first coat. I wouldn’t be scared to use my heat press with a teflon sheet!

Can't tell from the video, can you see where the product is?
@DebbyHunker6 жыл бұрын
You can really only tell by the sheen when you’re working with it, and you can feel it more than see it when it’s set. It has a slightly rubbery feel to it. It doesn’t add any color at all.
