Imagine a process that has been recorded for 10,000 years still being around! The Odu Agbaye, or sign of the year, is a tradition that has been around even longer than that! It is conducted once a year in Ifa’s birthplace, Nigeria. Specifically on a hill known as Oke Itase, Orunmila’s residence while on earth! This divination is done on behalf of the world to see how next year is going to be for all of us. The odu revealed was Baba Otura Ogbe! To find out more about what this combination has in store for the earth this year, watch this Our Roots Podcast episode with Joseph Baba Ifa!

Sharm'. Peace and Freedom. Alaafia. Corn did exist in Ancient Africa. There are words and Mdw NTR (hieroglyphs) for corn. It is sacred to Wasir (Asar, Osiris).

Was corn in Africa before colonialism? That's a strange question, if Yorubas have a name for something, it mean their ancestors had contact with the item. Corn of all thing. We call corn Agbado. And from corn, we make different kinds of staple food like Eko, Ogi, Egbo, Sapala, and so many others. These are core traditional staples. These are solely yoruba foods from corn. Eko is often used in some Ifa rituals. I saw online thay Portuguese brought maize into Africa in the 17th century. Then how did we have names in our native languages for all these foods. I regard this as one the many fabrications by Europeans. For the fact that a lot of history is fabrication. This is surely one of such. They are trying to sell Africa their GMO corn. So, this could be part of the tactic.
