Here is another Odyssey Dual Force Rossie II restoration. I decided to try out a different finish on this. Turned out decent. I still have a lot to learn to get these finishes down. Am constantly changing the way I do things so eventually, everything will come together! Soon I will be doing nickel and copper plating! Hoping to get those iron restores started soon.
Also stay tuned for another Scotty restore.

I use these foamy abrasive wheels off Amazon for dremel. I finish with cotton dremel attachment and 2 stages of polishing compound (black then green compound). Doesn’t look any better than yours but won’t cause the course scratches.

Looks awesome, didn't think you were going to be able to save the face insert but it turned out nice. Enjoy the restorations, I come from an auto body background and see vehicles being restored. I may need to try my hand at some clubs.

That's awesome. I have a dual force 2. I got a good 25 years out of the old girl. I just replaced it this past spring with the new stroke lab rossie. Hopefully get another 25 years out of this one.

As someone who refinished a putter to the same shiny finish, it’s like laying a mirror down. Putting on sunny days is impossible. It looks AWESOME. But, it’s not practical

It's paintfilled with acrylic or enamel paint. Then let dry and wiped with acetone.

@igolf906 Thanks. I appreciate the reply. Every "paint fill" video I've studied is performed on a bare metal (surrounding) surface. What if the surround surface has been painted? Does it work the same way, or will the "wipe" with acetone or mineral spirits also wipe off the surrounding surface finish?
@igolf906
@igolf906 Ай бұрын
@bodynfocus well by paint, I assume you mean a finish. And using standard paint for a full finish is not recommended. And yes, acetone will eat away at any standard paints. That's why Cerakote is used for coating putters. It is resistant to solvents.

Could the face of the putter be restored without involving the bench grinder? I own a Rossie II but I don't have a belt sander, I'm trying to figure out alternatives. Thanks!
@igolf906
@igolf906 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! You just need to find a nice flat surface and some sandpaper and slowly work at it. In this video I used a large chunk of granite for a nice flat surface.

Looks great! Love watch all the restoration videos you have put up. Do you use a deburring wheel on your bench grinder? They are really hard to find! Curious if a 100 grit grinding wheel would work the same for getting rid of nicks but not re shaping the clubhead.
@igolf906
@igolf906 Жыл бұрын
Look up convolute wheels also. Essentially the same thing. I found some on Amazon that are actually pretty amazing for the price. I could get you a link to them if you'd like? You can even get them in 3 different hardnesses.

Have you had any luck torching then oil quenching a putter with a black finish? I picked up a Sean Toulon Zevo 2 putter and am considering pulling the head and torching it. There is a black finish on it already, but I don’t believe it’s a finish that acetone would take off. Any tips? Would I be okay to torch it with the finish still on it or should I possibly sand it down?
@igolf906
@igolf906 2 жыл бұрын
I haven't oil quenched a putter yet. I've thought about it though. And honestly I wouldn't recommend trying to add a finish on top of a current one. I looked up this putter and depending on how good of shape yours is, if you don't have the proper tools, you could get away with maybe some 400 grit sandpaper and sand the current finish off, then torch it.

@iGolf906 how difficult is it to cerakote at home and do you prefer sandblasting before doing so?
@igolf906
@igolf906 Жыл бұрын
Lewis Conley You have to sandblast before cerakoting. To get a good finish cerakote is not just something you can jump into. It takes practice and it's a process. You have to blast the piece, soak it, bake out the moisture, coat it, and bake it again. And if you mess up you have to start all over.
